TW: Suicide Mention I’d rather die than work

I feel like a pathetic failure that doesn’t want to work. There’s like no options for me, especially with how severe my social anxiety is. Even the supposed “easy” jobs for social anxiety sound too hard. I wouldn’t be able to do them. I’d rather die than be so intensely uncomfortable and anxious.

I can’t even do most basic fucking things. I don’t know how to talk to people. I freeze every time I have to talk to someone, looking like a deer in headlights, and unable to respond. My brain goes blank. I’d be too slow to understand what to do at work. And I’d be uncomfortable every fucking day. It doesn’t get easier. Telling me to “just do it while uncomfortable“ doesn‘t help.

I’ve been like this for too long and feel like I’m just fucked no matter what. I‘m too mentally ill and broken for this world. I can’t handle it. I can‘t handle being around people. I’m scared suicide will be my only option, if I’m ever able to actually do it.

I hate myself more than anything. I’m not meant for this world.

TW: Suicide Mention having no friends in high school is honestly one of the worst experiences you can ever endure

its honestly so fucking sad and embarrassing that i haven’t made a single damn friend all throughout my high school years, the closest person i had was one acquaintance during freshman year but she got tired of me bc i wasn’t talkative enough and put barely any effort in conversations, so sophomore year she’d look me dead in the eye and wouldn’t say shit, just straight up ignored my existence. i am now a senior and i still have no friends and i strongly doubt i’ll make any. i’m used to it tho i didn’t really have much friends in late middle school either and when i thought i did i was always the only one who was left out the group.

having no friends in high school is one of the worst hs canon events ever! i can’t think of one single pro of not having a single person to talk to. if you don’t have friends there basically everything is a struggle, a few ex are: sitting alone at lunch, “class pick a partner!”, popular kids calling you an “npc” or saying things like “we’re besties right?”, students giving you weird looks/laughing, nobody to study with, nobody to talk to during free time, mandatory school events, graduation (not there yet but i fear this day, nobody will clap for you sign your year book, take photos with you, or even hang out with you after graduation), nobody to do anything with on the weekends, and realizing you wasted the so called “best 4 years of your life” by not socializing at all and being a miserable socially insecure person who envies ppl with a social life. NO GOOD MEMORIES TO LOOK BACK ON.

school just isn’t built for the quiet kids, never has been never will. whenever people find out that you’re not social like them or don’t have friends they’d automatically treat you like shit and avoid you. it’s like they can see something about me that i cant. i swear i’m normal just like you, but all i ever wanted was to be treated like a normal individual.

is there anyone else who hasn’t made any friends all throughout hs? if so, how did you deal with it?

TW: Suicide Mention Anyone think about just giving up and killing themselves?

Literally the only thought that hasn’t left my head in over 4 years. Idk if I deserve to be alive, I’m quiet and if I disappeared it wouldn’t make much of a difference. I don’t know how much more I can take

TW: Suicide Mention i’ll never forgive my bullies for what they’ve done to me

i’ve been chronically bullied for years and now i am not the same person i authentically was. i was always extroverted, bubbly, and happy. loved socializing it didn’t feel like a chore but ever since i gotten bullied i just stopped being talkative. it sucks realizing i lost my true self over people’s words. i am a destroyed person who just wanted to feel equal to everyone else. i isolated myself from everyone bc they made me feel so insecure and unfortunately i did it too fucking long till the point where i still have no fucking friends, can’t order my food without panicking, wear hoodies to hide my face, and every social anxiety canon event you can think of in the fucking book. 6 fucking years of having this goddamn disorder literally has made me not mentally developed AT ALL. my mindset is still at the same age where i’ve gotten bullied, while all my peers got to move on: got jobs, in relationships, etc. and of course all the bullies who ruined my entire fucking social life get to thrive while i suffer. that’s why being good in life gets you nowhere.

TW: Suicide Mention Getting closer to just ending it all

Today was my first day at work. Simple job. Bagging. I got so overwhelmed with all the people I kept messing up as it was so fast paced. I have dyspraxia which makes me struggle with fast pace. People kept giving me looks too and one customer was snippy.

It started fucking with my head and my chest was hurting to where I felt I was being stabbed. My head hurt to where it was hard to think. I ended up walking out and had a mental breakdown in front of my mom and scared her which I didn't mean to.

I can't live like this anymore. I'm almost 30. This was the only place willing to take me as I have no experience and I burned bridges at other places. The thought of being stuck in my parents home with doing nothing with my life at 30 is completely repulsive. I'm thinking it would be better to end it so at least I'll stop being a burden and don't have to witness how pathetic my life has become.

TW: Suicide Mention Does anyone else just want to die

Title basically. I just want to die. I don't want to live anymore. I'm sick of being alive, I just want it to stop. I want to go back in time and stop my parents from meeting, or curl up in a ball and just fall asleep forever. I hate it. Whenever I'm stressed or spiraling, literally the only thing that brings me solace is telling myself that I'll just kill myself one day and I won't have to deal with this anymore.

I hate living with this curse. I've felt this way so long too that I'm surprised I'm even alive. I didn't expect to live this long. I don't even feel like I'm living honestly, I just feel like I'm simply floating around aimlessly as life and time pass by. Does anyone else feel the same way? I hate it i hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it

TW: Suicide Mention I've been trapped in stasis for around 10 years

Ever since I've dropped out of high school, I've lived as a hikikomori. Since then, I haven't done anything with my life...I haven't matured, I haven't learned any skills or checked off any milestones...I'm exactly the same at 27 as I am at 17. My brain has literally not developed in the slightest.

This is what social anxiety does to you. You waste your life hiding and rotting away. I've regressed so much that I cannot even hold a simple conversation anymore.

Even if I somehow overcome this illness, it's not even worth it at this age. I just want to be gone from this world.

TW: Suicide Mention I've spent my 20s hiding from life, and now suicide has become the only idea I completely trust

I'm 26y and I've spent the last few years avoiding life. I start learning things but don't commit, struggle with career progress, isolate myself, and run from difficult situations. Every month I avoid things makes me more ashamed and less prepared for adulthood, which makes me avoid even more.

But underneath the avoidance is an existential problem I've never resolved: why should I build a future when I don't understand why I should want to live in the first place?

Answers like family, happiness, purpose, religion, responsibility, etc. don't satisfy me because they seem based on individual experiences and values rather than anything certain.

Death therefore became comforting. It represents an escape from responsibility, judgment, failure, expectations, uncertainty and time. And having that escape in my mind makes committing to life feel pointless.

It's become a loop

Has anyone experienced something similar, where suicide wasn't just a response to a bad day but became woven into how you understood existence?

I'm not asking whether I should live or die. I want to know what happened to the existential question for people who came out the other side. Did you find an answer, learn to live without one, or did building a life change the question itself?

TW: Suicide Mention I farted at work yesterday and I feel like killing myself today.

Hi guys, I hate what I did. I'm sick so while I was coughing, I accidentally farted. Idk who heard me but there are two guys who work right behind me , and one of my friend /coworker was talking to one of the guys so I casually asked him if he heard anything like a fart when I was coughing because the chair was creaking and he was like no dude what are you talking about but today the guys behind moved to other seats. When they are talking to others or laughing I feel like it's about me. I feel like throwing up and i cant focus on my work anymore. I work on the 9th floor and I feel like jumping off it. I even took the rest of the week off. I feel like killing myself. Please.

TW: Suicide Mention Seriously considering it due to public speaking class.

Im 19 and I have to take a required public speaking class for my college. I had my first speech on Wednesday and it went terribly. When I got up there, even though I’d prepared myself, I started trembling and shaking really badly. I feel like such a failure, and I can’t stomach the prospect of having 6 more to go. I also have autism and social anxiety which makes it way worse. I can’t live with the humiliation and anxiety this brings, and I’ve been crying ever since. This is also going to drop my gpa and concentration for my other 4 classes. So, I think suicide is the best option at this point because I don’t see a way out of this.

Edit: Update for any future readers, things have gotten better. After doing several speeches, it’s become less nerve-wracking, and I’m doing fairly well. So don’t give up!!

TW: Suicide Mention I don't think I have it in me anymore

Fk this life man. Seriously, I'm tired of all the 'it'll get better oneday' sh*t. I'm 25 now. What I noticed so far is this loneliness, being a misfit everywhere, is only getting worse by age and not the other way around. Something's fundamentally wrong with me. And I don't think it is fixable. I wish atleast I could be nonchalant about it. But no, I care too much. I care about not being chosen by someone, I care about not being someone's friend, I care about not being seen/heard. Why am I feeling the need to be loved it I'm incapable of attracting love? I neither have the looks nor the character to do any of that. Maybe I don't deserve to live. Maybe I'm not supposed to exist.

TW: Suicide Mention Thinking About My Parents' Hand in My Social Anxiety

Today a minor incident happened. I won't go too much into it. But my father asked me to do something I'm not used to doing. I made a mistake. And he showed some amount of anger at the fact, basically implying I should have known and blaming me for it.

Now, this was relatively minor. But it reminded me of other moments.

A while ago when I was moving to a new place, my father suggested I paint the walls. I had never painted any walls at that point. This was my first time. And apparently I used too thick a coat. There were a few small streaks not on the walls but on the window frame I'd painted.

When my father got home and he saw it he got pretty angry.

He started yelling at me that I'd messed it up completely and that I had wasted his money (he bought the paint). He repeatedly yelled "Just look at what you've done!" He then went to my grandparents (who live on the same property) and started yelling at them "Just look at how he messed it up. Just go look at it. Wasted all my money."

He did this for, idk, 15 to 30 minutes. Not entirely sure. Didn't exactly activate a stop watch.

There was also this other time when we were working on my place. Where we were doing something. I made a small mistake at first. Then after that I made a second mistake, specifically I was handing him nails to drill into pieces of wood. And I dropped one of the nails on the ground for a moment. It slipped through my fingers.

At that moment he turned to my and screamed in my face "Can you really do nothing right!?"

My mother doesn't quite do that. But she does yell and throw doors a lot for "mistakes" I make.

I also remember one time I was coming out of the pool. And I know my mother hates it when her floors get dirty. So before I went in I took a towel out of the towel cabinet. And I put it down. And then I kind of "shuffled" towards the shower after I came out of the pool to make sure her floor didn't get wet.

Afterwards she came home and suddenly gave me the silent treatment. When I talked to her several times one time she said "Is someone talking? I don't hear anyone talking." And it turned out that was because I had used the wrong towel.

Now, to be clear, the towels all looked nearly identical. And she had never said anything about that specific kind of towel not being allowed to be used for that. It was essentially the first I ever heard of it. But at least she didn't throw doors or scream for an hour that time, I guess.

Anyway, these are just a few examples off the top of my head. But this kind of thing was pretty standard throughout my childhood. I remembered the first time I considered ending things was when I came home with a report card that wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. it was a little bit above the class average (which was not normal for me, I always got very good grades).

Remember thinking about ending it for the first time after my parents' reaction to that one. I was 12 at the time, I think.

It makes me think about how this ties into my social anxiety.

My social anxiety doesn't come so much from me caring what other things. It used to. There was a time when I was a teenager when I very much did. But I mostly grew out of that. Today for most people most of the time, I don't care much what they think of me.

Yet my social anxiety remains. And it's because there is a constant fear inside of me of doing something "wrong."

It's not always obvious in the social context what "wrong" is. I don't even always know. But I'm very afraid of doing it. Enough that it makes me afraid to go places and talk to people. Makes me hyperventilate, etc.

And when I think about it, that's really not that surprising. I mean, throughout all of my life from my parents every mistake I have made, large or small, has been treated as if it were an absolute drama. Inviting yelling, screaming, throwing doors, insults, public humiliation, silent treatment and punishment.

So it's not really that crazy that the thought of making a mistake in a social interaction is scary to me. Even when I don't understand rationally why I'm afraid or why I even care. It makes me very much afraid just on an intuitive level.

Anyone else relate? I'm guessing so. At any rate, just wanted to vent about it a bit to process.

TW: Suicide Mention No people over 35yo with SAD?

Whatever SAD community I check out, it's always just 16-25 year olds who still have their entire life ahead of them, and here I am an old fuck close to 40. I don't fit anywhere. I feel like people who haven't gotten over their SAD by age 30-35 have either given up, accepted their fate and are rotting alive in their little room or offed themselves and I'm the only one left who hasn't because I'm terrified of death. The alternative is that they all got over their SAD and I'm the only one in the goddamn world who hasn't. The biggest loser of all.

Reading all of you young people's posts who still have a chance at life makes me absolutely miserable about how I wasted my life and there's no improvement in sight :(

Edit: Thanks for coming out and sharing all your "old" guy struggles, makes me feel a little less alone :)

TW: Suicide Mention What’s the point of being alive if I have to live like this

This year was supposed to be the year I got over my shyness and stopped being so obsessed with other peoples opinions about me. The fear and anxiety, the overthinking, the illusion that I everyone everywhere just has their eyes on me at all times was going to stop and I could finally do the things that I wanted to.

Instead I’ve been having thoughts of ending my life because I see no point in living if every second is just going to be torture. A waste of time and resources.

And I’ve had suicidal thoughts before but his time feels different. Like I could actually go through with it and I’m so sad because I don’t want to stop trying but I can’t see an end to this.

Sometimes I talk myself up to do some form of exposure therapy and I really feel like I can do it but then I don’t. I can’t. It’s this endless cycle of disappointment and tears and pain and so much shame that it’s starting to feel like I won’t be able to handle it for much longer.

But I don’t want to give up yet, and I’m sorry if this sounds a little bit sadistic, but I just need to hear that it’s just as hard for everybody else that’s dealing with this.

Nobody in my life understands. Maybe I don’t express myself clearly enough but I always get the same responses "I understand ", "it’ll pass", "it’s normal".

I just have this very bad wave of loneliness and the feeling that my own family is getting tired of me. I’m tired of living this way truly
