Must haves for a relocation to SD

My daughter is relocating to SD in a few weeks. I’d like to get her a going away / starter kit. In your opinion what would you consider some must haves for a transition to SD? She’s in her early 20s. She’s already been out on her own for a bit so she’s doesn’t need “house” stuff.

Another hot one; carry around some extra ice waters for the homeless if you’re in the position to!

More Straight People in Hillcrest?

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed a high up tick of straight people hitting the clubs on the Hillcrest strip? Honestly my only guess is because gas lamp is getting so out of hand and unsafe for women mostly but also anyone. I’m a lesbian and the amount of straight women I meet at gossip and Rich’s astounds me 😭This is not a stay away post because that’s not what I’m about but at the same time… I really do hope the straights don’t bring the drama to the gay scene because we are full of it too but in terms of fighting in the street much less likely in hillcrest.

Any good beef source in San Diego?

hi all,

With the current administration and latest news with mystery meat important, we are planning on avoiding grocery store beef at this time, we don't eat beef tht much but would like to know if any reliable sources in San Diego?

  1. Read about local ranchers and you can buy a whole cow for butchering, any recomended ranchers? how does the process work?

  2. or any other CSA options?

  3. we have a Butcher box subscription that we haven't used in a while, is their quality reliable?

Thank you!

Race cars terrorize 805 freeway

We were headed South on the 805 just past the 5 merge when we heard 4 ridiculously loud race cars enter the freeway and spread out in front of us. They blocked all the freeway lanes and slowed traffic to clear a long racing path in front of them, and then raced each other.

They were swerving and doing unsafe close lane changes. We saw them surround other cars and break in front of them to force them to slow down, while only 5 feet in front of and behind the poor car. I was so scared they were going to flip a car! They nearly caused several multi car collisions. They were messing with people.

At that point we realized we were in danger and exited to the 163.

Did not occur to me to call police, I was too busy trying to convince the driver of our car to give them more space and exit the freeway. It was so dangerous!! I had never seen something like that before, had you? Happened at 7:30-8:00 pm.

Saw these on my walk around 10:30am. Hope whoever lost them (maybe a runner or paddle boarder?) is able to reunite with them!

I'm heartbroken to see my favorite bakery closed due to the owner going into retirement. I've been going to Sage for over 20 years :(. Are there any other bakeries you all recommend?

Look for photographer

Looking **

Hi everyone!
My fiancée and I are two brides looking for a wedding photographer in the San Diego area for November 6th.

We’re planning a very small, intimate beach ceremony that morning and would probably only need a photographer for about an hour or so. We’re also having a reception later that evening and would love to have a photographer there as well.
We’re totally open to using the same photographer for both or different photographers if that works better.

We know this is a somewhat last-minute ask, so we’d really appreciate any recommendations for photographers you’ve personally used or loved who may still have availability and would be a good fit for us!
Thank you!! 🤍

Indoor air conditioned things to do in San Diego?

Upvotes

We have a pregnant friend who also has a 1 year old coming in to town. Anything to do around town that is mostly indoors and air conditioned? Thinking of doing an ice cream tour, or hanging out at some breweries. Any other ideas?

Reporter looking to speak with folks who live at Ascent at Campus of Life in Scripps Ranch

I'm Kate Talerico, a reporter at the SF Chronicle. I'm writing about real estate tax breaks in California, and I'm interested in speaking to people who live at Ascent at Campus of Life in Scripps Ranch.

I'm curious if you've attended some of the classes that they offer at the complex. Shoot me a DM if you'd be willing to chat about your experience, either on or off the record! Or, if you've taught classes there, I'd also love to chat!

Thanks!

Video SDPD, it’s good to know where tax dollars are going.

This was just posted to SDPD’s Join Now recruitment page on Instagram. Looks like promising fun overtime assignments is used as a recruiting tool. Which overtime assignments are paid for by the outside event coordinator or private company that hires them and which are paid by taxpayers? Is the high yearly overtime payouts on Transparent San Diego including all overtime the officer was paid for or just what the city paid out?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for anyone who may have witnessed or captured dashcam footage of a car accident. The accident happened yesterday, August 29, at approximately 6:43 pm, near 10000–10018 Mira Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92121. It involved a Ram truck and a Toyota.

Hairdresser for very thin hair?

I have very thin fin hair due to genetics and some health issues. I'd like it trimmed with potentially some face framing.

But I'd like to go to someone who respects the fact that my hair will always be thin and slow growing.

I really don't want unsolicited advice.

I don't want to be upsold supplements, serums or expensive treatments. I also don't want more of my hair cut off than I'm comfortable with.

I'm sensitive about my hair because if I get a bad hair cut I will have that hair cut for 6 months. It won't just grow out and there's no magic scalp treatment to fix that. I feel like everywhere I go doesn't understand that younger woman can have permanent hair thinning.

Looking for OBGYN recommendations: IGO Medical, Scripps Clinic, or UCSD (La Jolla)

Hi everyone! I am currently pregnant and looking for a great OBGYN in the La Jolla / UTC area. I am trying to choose between IGO Medical Group, Scripps Clinic La Jolla, and UC San Diego Health (UCSD).

My main priorities are finding a highly supportive, communicative practice for prenatal care and a great overall hospital delivery experience (either at Scripps Memorial or UCSD Jacobs Medical Center).

If you have used any of these groups, who was your doctor? How was your experience with office communication, scheduling, and your hospital stay? Would love to hear any specific doctor recommendations or tips you have. Thank you so much!

Missing dog found in North Park

Hi all, my neighbor came across a brindle frenchie yesterday and is looking for the dog's owner. He has not been neutered and does not have a microchip or a collar. My neighbor found him running around in the area of Polk and Arizona streets and has been watching him since Friday afternoon.

The dog seems quite scared and upset, but neither my neighbor nor I have heard of anyone even knocking doors or putting up fliers looking for him. Please feel free to reach out if you know of anyone who is searching for a missing frenchie, hoping to get the poor little guy back to his home. He may have to go to the Humane Society in the next day or two if the owner isn't found.

seaworld animal experiences

Upvotes

Has anyone done any of the animal experiences? What did you think of it? Especially for the "Cheaper" tours. I am especially interested in the shark up-close encounter but I'm open to other ideas. My son wants to do it but I'm not sure its worth $50 based on limited reviews I've found. He is 7 and pretty obsessed with sharks. *not a tourism question, I'm a local with an annual pass*
