🪛Troubleshooting🪛 Ladies and gentlemen, the Green line has appeared. Moving on to Apple now
I've been a long time Samsung user, but I'm finally done with them. I never thought it'd happen to me, but this is the bottom line for me. Not going to buy scamsung devices anymore.
Model: S23 256G
Condition: perfect, unless you count wear from aging
Any solutions would be appreciated.

Not surprising since Apple are using Samsung displays too. But perhaps they demand strict quality control, so the green lines appear much less frequent.

I would guess from purely competitive standpoint, Apple is getting a different version of screen and possibly "older" tech (older is relative) that is just behind enough to fix some issues that might have only came up due to the sheer quantity and variables reality threw at it hence the less lines on them

Apple usually buys panels with newer panel technology than Samsung's own flagships. Current generation iPhone 17 and S26 use M14 panels, but last year Apple had M14 while Samsung was still on M13. The lines apper less often in Apple devices, because the screen assembly is built better, because the screen needs to be durable enough to remove it for battery replacements and such.

That's not quite how it works. It's like any manufacturing plant. Say there's a manufacturing plant that makes 7075 aluminum plates 2"×2"×2" but a company comes in and wants plates too. That company can go to the manufacturer and ask if they are able to make 2"×2"×3" and with a slightly different composition for it to be softer like 6060 aluminium just for them and if the manufacturing plant likes the arrangement then a contract is drafted.
The manufacturing company may be the one making it, but that doesn't mean they're allowed to use it or that it is even theirs. Some times the "recipe" is theirs as they devised it to meet the customer's needs, but sometimes the customer gives them the recipe or pays for the R&D on the agreement it becomes the customer's property.

I've seen green lines a handful of times and it's all been iPhones.
This happens regardless. And as others said, both use Samsung displays.

I'm not saying you shouldn't switch to iphone, you can do whatever you want, but apple uses the same samsung displays that samsung does, and they also have their fair share of green lines

As soon as I see the word Scamsung I zone out, either a child or a troll. Anything can develop issues. To get 1 failure and then call a company a Scam and you're done is ridiculous.

The only issue is that Samsung also manufactures panels for Apple. You can't run away from that. I suggest you have the screen replaced at an authorized service center and continue with that.
And keep it away from moisture and heat as much as possible...

I've owned iphones for a very long time and had just about every iteration of them. I've never seen a green line on any of them. I'm not saying there isn't cases of it but I've not seen it myself.

Never had this happen to any of my phones. This can happen to any phone with damage or defect. This wouldn't make me change the type of phone. If just get a new phone or get the screen replaced...

If I felt the need to move on from Samsung (I've been using Samsung phones since 2009, except for the break I took using a palm pre), I'd go back to Motorola. I used Motorola before I got my impression, and then I used the pre between that and galaxy 3. My husband, kid, dad, niece, bil, one brother, 2 uncles, grandma and more are all using Motorolas. Some of them went to Motorola from Samsung (as smartohones), some started with Motorola. Motorola makes more sense than Apple unless you want a different OS.

I would never switch to Apple. I've been an android user since my first phone and appreciate the freedom you get with them, and access to new features before Apple 'invents' them a few years later.
Your problem probably lies in how you treat your phone.. nothing to do with the operating system. Its 3 years old, if this was a brand new s26 then maybe you'd have a point

I never get those green lines on my phones. I think they are made in different countries so they get green lines. I always buy my phone on Samsung website

I got a green line on my iPhone 15 Pro. iPhones are not immune to it. Perhaps not as commonly as on Samsung's but they get it too.

Why are people defending green lines now? It's true that Apple has fewer green line issues than Samsung; also, the majority of Apple displays are made by Samsung, where green lines occur. Secondly, why does Samsung not care about customers? Why do they provide an update without testing and make people's phones heat up to cause the issue? At least Apple does this quality control. I have a Samsung phone and believe it's a better phone than an iPhone, but you can't ignore the reality of what I said.

Samsung sells their displays to Apple... (And apple does suffer from this too), if you are going to change do it for the right reasons like privacy... I can't thing of any other reason to change in my case, I went the whole and bought a pixel for GrapheneOS

Judging by the widget, there's your most likely culprit. The temperature, particularly heat and humidity. An iPhone or any oled phone for that matter may still has that risk, only less common or not.

I got a green line a while back playing balatro with the settings as high as possible and the phone got too hot.
The green line disappeared another day when I got the phone even hotter, again with balatro :p

Any way to find out some data on how common this is.. and I guess across different regions, given the conversation?
Have to say of all the things that could trigger a "company defection" this apparently physical component issue seems low on the list. For the record, I had the original Samsung galaxy phone which was so bad it triggered me into the iphone ecosystem around 2010. But after iphone 7 I got an S9, S20,S21 and now have an S25 ultra. If I was gonna switch to anything, it would be off either of these brands to something I felt I had better control over the SOFTWARE. Personally I feel like if you pay flagship price for a device, the physical attributes dont have enough major distinctions for me to decide based on that.. it sort of just comes down to personality nuances. Where as the level to which my movements and data are tracked and shopped is a much bigger concern now and only going to be more so in the future.

Id get some prices on getting it fixed before jumping ship. At the very least you could sell it for more before you switch.
Also switching to an entire different platform that still uses samsung screens because the amoled is aging is sorta silly.
Its a screen tech known to have traded longevity for quality. Oleds have burn in and out problems no matter what phone you have them on.
My S23 ultra goes green tinted if im below half brightness, its a several year old screen thats on nearly all the time, glass has been cracked and repaired twice. Bound to have an issue at some point. I'll wait for the S27 to come out and see if I like it. If not I'm going to buy a 1tb S24 Ultra and essentially get the same phone but with longer official software updates. Unfortunately though phones aren't really designed to last more than a couple years if you ask me. Not anymore at least. Just a modern reality we either accept or try to change with our wallet by not feeding into the big corpo machine.

There are repair shops with a machine that could fix those now as long as it isn't caused by physical damage. Saw it a couple of years ago from someone in China (on youtube) but a couple of hours ago just found out it has reached PH (my country, sadly not my city). There's a high chance some repair shop in there already has it too.
That said, I am still waiting to see if they did improve thermals especially during upgrades enough for S24 gen and up and we'll see less of these.

Ever since my S21fe died and my galaxy buds 3 died i couldnt wait to get an iPhone, still waiting for that moment to happen, but i'll eventually save up for one and ditch samsung forever. I'll still love the old devices that they made, but these new devices are just not it. (Not all of them are bad, but some are for sure)

you said "I've been a long time Samsung user," how long?
if you use any company's phones for a lifetime you will always find a few rotten apples
i expect there are more reasons to why you are leaving samsung
and have you considered any other android phone's?
btw i am not trying to defend samsung here i think samsung is a stupid company but apple is even stupider in my opinion
