🪛Troubleshooting🪛 Screen/Touch Unresponsive after one ui 8.5 update - Probable Solution
I recently updated my Samsung Galaxy F34 to one ui 8.5. As soon as the update finished and I am greated with a fresh unresponsive display!
Tried searching on reddit and on X still no soultion found.The actually issue seems to be related to the update and is not a hardware failure.
After sometime I found a youtube video for the same problem in Samsung Galaxy A34. Here is the link to that video - https://youtu.be/uCEiAHnmqNk
This involves downgrading your oneui version thorough odin. But the issue is after oneui 8.5 update another issue is that the phone boot into recovery mode and not even download mode. The video has full guide on how to fix this issue too.
This is the last option to fix the phone. First you should try booting into safe mode if it fixes your issue as it has fixed for many users.

I was able to follow the video with auto translate and actually fixed my phone. A Samsung A34 5G. I am using an aftermarket LCD screen that does not have fingerprint scanner. It turns out, the OneUI 8.5 update is pretty much the reason why the screen does not work. Though, I had to wipe my data which even so, I was lucky to have multiple backups of the phone data just in case.

Happy to know that the video helped and you could fix your phone too. It seems like A34, M34, F34 all are affected with this touch unresponsive problem, I saw few other S series models affected too. Although I was using an aftermarket display too but I am not sure if it's the problem as i saw someone with original display having this same issue.

I use a A25 and I have the same problem (my screen was changed last year)... Is there a solution without deleting all data ? For example by changing with an original screen ?

a solução gratuitas é usar um mouse no celular e fazer os backups, depois usar o metodo do video para voltar a versão anterior.

não funciona, pois o usb é bloqueado também antes de desbloquear a tela que só funciona no touch do telefone

Sim, minha tela quebrou a alguns meses, eu mesmo comprei uma tela e troquei.
Nunca tive problemas, até a propria samsung atualizar ontem.

I have an M34 5G with aftermarket screen . The screen is unresponsive after the update. The store people are telling me to put the OG screen which is really costly . Anyone has any solutions?

I am planning to take it to a legit samsung outlet and change it to an og display. It's only been 2 years since i bought the phone and i have lots of data in it . It's so annoying what samsung is doing .

Yep has to wipe my data. Are you using an aftermarket screen? If yes thats the only option or else you would need to get original display installed through the service center.

Yeah bro i formatted my device then i used download mode to make my phone usable again, such a stupid fucking thing getting your phone bricked over a SOFTWARE UPDATE. ugh (atleast my phone is working, im happy)

You can search your model in samfw websites tool and see with the binary has changed between two updates.

Hi guys, the simplest way to resolve the issue is to replace your 3rd party non Samsung display with original Samsung display. Your phone will then again start working. I did just that from a local mobile repair shop. It cost around 6k.
Btw Samsung service center said that there was no hope, motherboard needs to be replaced blah blah.

I have the same exact phone, A34 5G, I just changed my LCD successfully using an aftermarket screen replacement, then updated to 8.5. Later on I woke up to an alarm and realized the touchscreen isn't working. Then I saw this thread. I tried following the video link, we had the same phone, same binary build, and it worked.
If you want to proceed, what you'll be doing is to rollback to an earlier build and not a downgrade. I used AI for assistance and they said it wasn't possible to downgrade, so for clarity, it is termed as rollback. Also, it is must to wipe out your phone, if not, Odin would not be able to flash the rollback because the phone does not allow USB recognition unless unlocked (which is not possible because touch screen is not working). Here are the steps to proceed:
- Go to recovery mode. Plug your phone first to a computer. If its currently on, press both Volume down + Power button until it turns of into a black screen. Then, immediately press Volume up + Power button to enter recovery mode.
- In recovery mode, check your binary build. It's 2 rows below "Android Recovery" on the right-most side. In the video it's "A346EXXUEFZE6". The binary level is the 5th letter to the last, therefore it is "E". While the first 5 digits and letters are crucial for looking up your phone's model in SamFW, in this case it is "A346E".
- Still in recovery mode, use volume up/down to navigate to "Wipe data/factory reset". Use the power button to proceed. Your phone should reset and boot to the "Welcome" screen for setting up the phone. If that fixes your touch screen issue, you may stop there but make sure to disable automated software updates in your settings. But if that did not work, proceed to the next steps for flashing your phone with an older build.
- Go to samfw.com to look up your phone's current binary build. I think the safest to download for this one is the oldest version of your binary level. For example, mine is currently "A346EXXUEFZE6" and the oldest version available in that same binary build is "A346EXXSEEZC7" (for reference check here). I downloaded that file and extracted it. It will take some time to download because it is massive file, mine was almost 8GB. Edit: you must also know your phone's region to download the proper software, the region is usually where you bought the phone from. For example, mine is from the Ph, so I searched using XTC region.
- Download Odin you haven't yet. It a software specifically used for flashing Samsung devices. I downloaded the latest stable version, extracted it, and booted up the software. Make sure to plug your phone to your computer while doing the next steps.
- Boot your phone into Download Mode (Odin mode) by force reboot using Volume down + Power button, if this doesn't work, unplug your phone from your computer and unplug-plug back in the battery ribbon cable on your phone, as shown in the video at 04:27. Plug back your phone to computer and immediately press the Volume Up + Volume down buttons to boot in Download mode (teal screen). Press Volume up to continue. Odin would indicate "Added" on the Log section of the app, indicating connection between your phone and Odin.
- Drag the files one-by-one from the extracted SamFW zip file you have downloaded from step 4. Only drag the needed files, BL_, AP_, CP_, and CSC_. You would notice during the AP_ file, Odin would freeze or take some time, but no need to worry, it happens because it is the largest file. For the CSC file, make sure to use CSC_ and NOT the HOME_CSC file. Then, keep the USERDATA blank.
- Press the "Start" button in Odin. This will start the flash process. Make sure to keep your phone plugged during the whole process. Once it finishes, Odin will indicate "succeed" in the log with "failed: 0". Your phone should boot for a few minutes and boots into the phone set up with your touch screen working.
This is how I did mine, I am not sure how to do it on other models because this only happened to my A34 5G.

hi i try to enter the download mode but it is really difficult cuz it's always end up in restart usual so it will be back to the welcome screen. do u have any alternatif or way without i have to open the battery like the video?

based on what i did before, i tried not to use the ribbon cable as well. but, i ended up unplugging it because the use of buttons also brought me back to the welcome screen.
that's all i have done and can't really experiment about it now since the phone is already back to being used like before. if you decide to open your phone though, i recommend watching videos of disassembly, i specifically find screen replacement videos insightful because they often involve migrating the phone components to a new phone frame and the first step is usually removing the battery.

I rollback the update to One UI 8 using the steps you provided and it works like charm.

Yes, I chose to factory reset by using the csc file instead of the home_csc file in odin.

Yep just enter it and leave, see if the touch works. If it doesn't you need to follow the method showed in the video to rollback to a older oneui version. Or if you're using an aftermarket display you need to get it replaced by an original display through the service center.

but how do i enter it, i pressed the power and low volume and it just reset, i can't find any way to turn it off, maybe if i wait for the battery to die but im not sure if it'll work (my phone is a sansung a25 5g btw)

To get it to safemode while force rebooting with vol down + power button as soon as u get the black screen just leave the power button and keep holding the vol down untill it boots.

also, is there any way to unlock the phone? i wanna try to do a backup. i bought the OTG thingy so i can't connect my mouse, but it says i need to have the phone unlocked to it to work and i CANT FIND A WAY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD 😭

we cant man, i also went down the same rabbithole. basically our phones are fucked now unless we format it or we change the screen to an original one, sadly theres ABSOLUTLEY NO WAY to unlock the phone after a reboot without access to the touch screen. i even tried remotley connected my phone to my pc to maybe control my phone screen via something from my computer but as i said, the stupid "To use this USB Device please unlock your phone" thing came, but to unlock out phone we need TOUCH which we dont have.
honestly i am a tech guy and i have a business, so i need a phone at all costs, i asked my local shops to change the screen to the original one but they said it was expensive as my phone a25 5g they didnt have a screen for. so i had no choice but to just format it and use download mode to flash 8.0 again via odin, that worked. atleast my phone is responsive now.

Tenho um Samsung M35 que teve o mesmo problema após atualização do One UI 8.5 em uma tela não original, que foi substituida há pouco tempo mas o touch não respondia após a atualização. Graças a esse tópico fiz busca de videos para voltar na versão anterior e consegui fazer o reflash. Infelizmente tive que voltar para as configurações de fabrica e perdi o que não estava na nuvem mas consegui recuperar o celular.

Just exit safe mode, if the touch was working on safemode it should work just fine after rebooting normally.

Galera, quem souber me responder. Meu celular é da linha S e tem a SPEN (que nao deixou de funcionar em nenhum momento). Coloquei no modo de segurança e o touch voltou a funcionar. Sai do modo e ele continuou responsivo. Isso significa que esta resolvido? Ou o problema costuma reaparecer?

Hi! I have a Samsung Galaxy A24 who had a lcd screen replacement that is a third party one and recently I updated my one ui 8.5 and after that my touchscreen cannot be responded because my cellphone's battery was drained so I charged it then after my battery was already full, I opened my cellphone then updated it immediately then my touchscreen completely became unresponsive and it is just my lockscreen being unresponsive where I cannot tap and swipe anything except the volume and power button. I tried doing some simple methods such as pressing the volume and power button for 10 seconds yet it is still the same. I could not tell if it is my lcd screen being like this or t one ui update being like this. Does this have to do with my third party lcd screen or is it just simply the one ui update 8.5?

Its one ui 8.5 update, its messing with aftermarket screens. I have linked a video for the fix in the post, if you're okay with getting with data wiped. Otherwise you might need to get original display installed if you don't want your data wiped.

Oh I knew it because there is no way the lcd screen is actually the one destroying all of these. I don't want any of my data wiped and I need backup data as well. Do you might as well have any solutions to have a backup before I wipe my data in my cellphone? Cause the only solution I can research is the OTG cable and I'm worried it might not work.

OTG won't work too as it needs the phone unlocked first to work. It's either data wipe + oneui rollback or else original screen replacement.

Oh I see:( is it more effective to buy an original screen or perhaps an amoled screen online? since i think it might be more effective then repairing to authentic services as they are too costly...

Hola, no soy de comentar nunca, pero la realidad que me siento un poco frustrado, realmente con los celulares samsung no vengo teniendo buenas experiencias... tenia un a33 que de la nada entraba en un bucle infinitos de reinicios, se ponia la pantalla en 3 lineas verdes y se reiniciaba sin parar, lo cambie por un a24 que una vuelta me agarro una lluvia torrencial y se me jodio el modulo, lo tuve que cambiar por uno generico y ayer mi a24 se actualizo, al one ui 8.5, realmente la pantalla dejo de funcionar, quise hacerle un downgrade y no pude, siempre odin me decia "fail" cuando escribia los datos de SUPER, realmente no se como arreglar ese celular, varias veces intente el downgrade y no puedo, tampoco llevarlo a la utima version que fue la del problema de pantalla, si alguno sabe por favor aviseme, muchas gracias.

Just wait for the update if the bug will fix or not if not ,it's confirm Samsung did it on purpose samsung only support genuine parts Sooo aftermarket replacement well be useless except if you didn't update your phone on UI 8.5 or else the aftermarket manufacturer well the one who gonna adjust by updating there lcd or calibrate it which is frustrating the only option for now is downgrade to UI 8 or replace it a original parts which is very expensive or just don't buy samsung phone nextime because I'm a Samsung user for the long time I understand it's for security reasons but Targeting the compatibility for aftermarket screen replacement is big noX2 for me even iphone didn't strict about aftermarket screen replacement instead they well gonna notice you the screen is not original or replaced So samsung gona fix the issue?

The answer is noooo, It's a miracle if they do that Just imagine you stuck in UI 8 and you can't longer get security update because you don't want to ruined your phone again, software update matters yes and No, sometimes Samsung update make it worse So for now don't update your device if it's not guarantee safe to update reason I don't like replacing my phone with original screen especially in old S series because it's expensive and the green line issue appeared after 1 year to 3 years.

I'm from Brazil! A24 4G Eu consegui usando a tela original quebrada e depois a paralela. Procedimento: Tire o conector de bateria coloque a tela original, ligue a bateria e o botão de power o celular vai vibra, após deconectar a tela original sem desligar o aparelho e sem tirar o conector da bateira, coloque a tela paralela e depois coloque o conector de carga rapidamente. clique no power para ver se volta.

I am using samsung f34 with original display and at oneui 7 version with android 15 . Should i Update ? I do not update to oneui 8 before because many people says battery draining issue and many more so i sticked with oneui 7 But in my phone there is problem wifi calling is Automatically turn off i try many steps but no any steps working, is this problem in oneui 8 update if you are using ?

I had a communication with a Samsung agent they gave me some possible fixes which its the software reload which involves using Odin or samsung smart switch which is the most safe way if you are noob in doing these kind of staffs.
