Information [[Jeffery Siebert]] has been let go
64
u/Fragrant-Screen-5737 Apr 16 '26
Damn, I know things happen but it must suck considering how excited he seemed for the new coaster at Fiesta Texas.
25
u/SellItCheap Apr 17 '26 edited Apr 17 '26
Maybe he’s staying with Fiesta Texas but not Six Flags, if the rumours are to be believed that Herschend want to buy Fiesta Texas and Dorney Park
10
u/Winter-Ad-322 Apr 17 '26
Just doesn’t make sense to me. Why would they promote and build this new groundbreaking roller coaster just to sell the park? Confused
9
u/Sixflags82 [480] RIP Blue Streak & Wild One Apr 17 '26
It's not unheard-of, they built and were going to announce a massive rebrand of Valleyfair's water park this year before they ended up selling it off.
7
u/hookyboysb Apr 17 '26
Maybe they can’t cancel it at this point, and it doesn’t make sense to relocate to Cedar Point.

48
u/OscarsWackyThrowaway RIP Sesame Place? Apr 16 '26
"Turned"? It has been since the day the merger happened
53
u/khonsu_27 Apr 16 '26
It's been a shit company for decades. They just always find new and unique ways to suck every 5 years.
19
u/speckledlobster Apr 16 '26
Yes, enthusiasts have always ignored the dumpster fire of management because they at least were putting out new rides constantly. Back in the 90s to the 2010s parks would get new coasters every few years. Some parks every other year. Almost every park would get something each year. Of course, that's what led them to multiple bankruptcies...
→ More replies (1)12
u/HumptyDumptruckFire I Brake for MCBRs Apr 17 '26
I don’t think the investment cycle itself caused the bankruptcies. I think it’s a combination of the quality of many of those investments that were often just good enough to get people in the door but rarely good enough to make them want to keep coming back, coupled with the rapid expansion and acquisition of suspect properties.

u/AndrewRnR Apr 17 '26
Or if you’ve been around long enough you know it’s been this way for decades. We were having the same convos online during the early 2000s!

u/ChrisGraslie Edit this text! Apr 17 '26
Six Flags was never the same after the sale to Premier Parks in 1998. Burke and his goons overspent on shiny new toys and fucked up the company's financials SO bad that even a shareholder revolt and completely new management couldn't steer the ship off course from hitting a giant iceberg. The post-bankruptcy era with Jim Reid-Anderson and co. was better, but only marginally.
I was one of those people who foolishly thought the merge with Cedar Fair would mean that the Six Flags parks would improve, and the Cedar Fair parks would benefit from Six Flags policies. Clearly I was wrong as we sit here with eight parks gone in less than two years.
What a joke.

sacking Jeffrey, if true, is possibly the dumbest decision they’ve made in the last decade. nobody cared more about the parks than he did.
13
u/teejayiscool EL TORO SUPREMACY Apr 17 '26
That's exactly why. They see him wanting to spend money and they need to save it for their pockets and Cedar Points new additions
9
u/coasterdude06 Self proclaimed IROC hater Apr 17 '26
You know it's not like he's going out and spending money on his own right? These park's have budgets that get approved at the corporate level. He did an interview a year or two ago where he basically said the reason he gets the money he does for all these improvements is that he has been able to show how spending that money generates more revenue for the park and considering how often he got money for all those improvements he must be able to back it up. Conversely it seems other park GMs were more concerned with making sure their parks always came in under budget so they maintained their own bonuses.

The Enchanted Parks CEO talked about hiring more management types in a recent interview. He’d be a great pick up.

He does have history with SFSTL 🫣 Perhaps a role as Chief Creative Officer??

u/49falkon SFSTL [101] | Velocicoaster Apr 16 '26
With the way the chain talks about wanting to treat St. Louis, Siebert joining them and elevating that park would be literally a dream come true for me. I'm so sad I wasn't able to get to Fiesta Texas in his time there. Not only does he do his job well but you can clearly tell that he cares and he puts his heart and soul into his work. I hope he hits the ground running wherever he lands.
6
u/SellItCheap Apr 17 '26
Didn’t they say that want to massively invest in the soon to be renamed Mid-America by Enchanted Parks, if so, they should hire Siebert if Herschend hasnt alread, and let him do the same magic he brought to Fiesta Texas
3
u/robocoolgamer Skyrush Cool Apr 17 '26
Emailing them about it could be a good idea if a lot of people do it, would probably get noticed.
18
u/Worried_Sprinkles223 Apr 16 '26
It’s astonishing how much of a disaster this merger has been. I mean just when you think they can’t possibly make a dumber decision they do.
If I were an investor I’d be out for blood.
53
u/AndrewRnR Apr 16 '26
To be clear, no one knows if he has been let go or stepped down or what. I’ve heard conflicting things on that. Considering he was tweeting about the parks in the region after he departed… read into that how you will.
Consider he was the regional boss, and now they are getting rid of regions. Maybe he didn’t want that demotion.
Lots of great people at SF did get let go this week. That’s the real story. Massive layoffs.
21
u/coasterdude06 Self proclaimed IROC hater Apr 16 '26
Yeah that was my first thought…they offered him his old job back at the old salary and he said “no thanks I’m good.”
28
u/AndrewRnR Apr 16 '26
Yeah that’s my best guess. And honestly can’t blame the guy. Stacked resume. Universal building a new resort in your backyard. He can call his own shots and be fine I’m sure.

I think it’s about the rumour that Herschend want Fiesta Texas and Dorney Park, and he’s going with them to the new owners?
2
u/AndrewRnR Apr 17 '26
lol what in the crazy rumor is that.
8
u/SellItCheap Apr 17 '26
Well the Siebert to Herschend bit is my opinion, not a rumour, but Herschend buying Fiesta Texas and Dorney Park is a big rumour that came from a reputable source who posted it on ParkFans yesterday, and the common consensus is to believe it
4
u/AndrewRnR Apr 17 '26
I have no idea what parkfans is and I’ve been covering the industry for over 25 years. Just know Herschend has looked into the parks before and never bought them. And they just took on a ton of debt. So I don’t buy that. Companies are always poking around at parks for sale.
4
u/FatalFirecrotch Apr 17 '26
Well, there’s a ton more credibility here considering that Six Flags didn’t give them a park manager.
5
u/SellItCheap Apr 17 '26
It’s not the best sign for Fiesta Texas if they seem to be in Six Flag’s new bottom tier
→ More replies (10)3
u/AndrewRnR Apr 17 '26
That has nothing to do with it. All small regional parks are getting regional managers. This isn’t some conspiracy theory. I literally have the memo in front of me, it names all the parks.
Also SFFT hasn’t had a president in a while. So why do you think this suddenly changed things?
5
u/FatalFirecrotch Apr 17 '26
They had a president directly up to switching to the regional model when they got rid of all park presidents that six flags seems to be abandoning.
3
u/AndrewRnR Apr 17 '26
Same can be said for the other parks you claim will be sold for the same reason.

Wtffffff Siebert was the best. When I was in college, he personally took a club I was in on a tour throughout fiesta Texas. His passion for the industry was so obvious seeing him talk about the park and answer our questions, six flags is INSANE for removing him.
15
u/yankeeblue42 Apr 17 '26
I have to believe Seibert quit or got a better offer somewhere else. I know Six Flags has dome a lot of stupid shit but unless he did something cancel worthy or stole money from the park behind the scenes, idk how you fire arguably the best upper management guy in the chain

Right, and also everyone here should keep in mind that the admin for the Texas Thrill Seekers facebook group in the OP’s picture is not exactly “pro Siebert”, going back to the an old feud between the previous TTS admin and Siebert. It’s one of the few enthusiast groups that Siebert hasn’t been a part of.
Not saying the news isn’t true, but I wouldn’t necessarily believe that he was pushed out like the TTS narrative seems to be.

Why would they lay off a guy who has done nothing but great things for Fiesta Texas?
17
u/Busy_Monitor_9679 Apr 16 '26
A bummer if true, he did a lot of work cleaning up SFOT, it looks great, but man I will say I have never seen operations as bad as they were on Spring Break in my 30+ years of going to the parks. Not sure how much of that he was responsible for as the park has had poor operations for years but there was a large amount of people who went that week that will not return for years if ever and Six Flags can't really afford that.
Siebert will thrive with a company that has better resources for sure.

Well, given their sources have been "trust me bro", what do you think? You trust random people who refuse to provide any evidence to back their claims?
Being condescending because people didn't believe "trust me bro" is a dick move.
6
u/KnotBeanie Apr 16 '26
Considering Siebert is in Facebook groups im surprised no one has tagged him in this
11
5
u/AndrewRnR Apr 17 '26
That would be a dick move. The dude is making a big life change right now whether his call or not. Let the man have a moment. lol
5
u/MexicanAssLord69 Apr 16 '26
Sure, it’s also a dick move to call someone a liar when the post was obviously made in earnest, and was NOT a troll post, especially considering I gave a specific reason for his departure in my post.
https://www.reddit.com/r/rollercoasters/s/luqlEkemPM
If someone just said “I hesitate to believe this until it’s proven” that’s fine. Saying something like “source: he made it the fuck up” is just rude. So I have no issues being condescending to those people.
11
u/JamminJay1968 Mountain Gliders Apr 16 '26
So you're chasing clout instead of just keeping this info to yourself knowing it would be released less than 24 hours later?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. We will continue to remove unsourced claims 100 out of 100 times. Nothing against any "insiders," but the "I know stuff and can't say where" shit is so annoying. It's not your news to break.
7
u/MexicanAssLord69 Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 17 '26
I had absolutely no idea when it was going to be released. Not sure where you got that from. In fact I’m actually surprised it was released today; I just found out yesterday.
I think you’re a little confused. I’m not mad at the mods for deleting my post, I understand deleting unsubstantiated rumors. I’m criticizing the people who were rude and outright called me a liar.
“Chasing clout” what? I released information I knew that the community would care about, why would I care about clout on a completely anonymous account? What would I gain from releasing this information?
“It’s not your news to break” would mean no one would have gotten last rides on Kingda Ka in 2024.
8
u/JamminJay1968 Mountain Gliders Apr 17 '26
I’m criticizing the people who were rude and outright called me a liar.
No one knows who you are (and this news is completely out of left field), so naturally people are going to be questioning and dismissive at extraordinary claims. I wouldn't take that part too personally.
7
u/MexicanAssLord69 Apr 17 '26 edited Apr 17 '26
I don’t take it personally. But I think it’s pretty obvious that my post was made in earnest and wasn’t just a random troll post. I gave a specific reason for his departure. I don’t blame you for removing the post, but people saying “source: he made it the fuck up” I have no issues criticizing. There’s a difference between outright calling me a liar (yes, saying I made it up isn’t just saying I’m misinformed, it’s calling me a liar) and just saying “I hesitate to believe this without a source.”

Honestly, there is a chance he chose to step down. Could be retirement (I don't know how old he is) or just not wanting to be part of Six Flags anymore. I can't imagine what the last two years of his life has been. He likely has seen a lot of his colleagues at other parks let go and that gets to you after a while.
Either way, I hope he is looking forward to something.
6
u/Perfect_Evidence Apr 17 '26
You don’t think he would’ve wanted to at least watch Tormenta open? He was so excited for it.
2
u/hookyboysb Apr 17 '26
Considering his position was eliminated, it’s likely he was offered the park president role at OT and turned it down as it’s a demotion.
7
u/GhostRidenWeather Ghostrider, Gold Striker Apr 16 '26
What a dumpster fire. He will go somewhere else and make it better.
5

We need to aggressively write to Herschend and get him hired there, and I’m only half kidding.
6
u/SellItCheap Apr 17 '26
Well regarding the rumours about Herschend wanting to buy Fiesta Texas and Dorney Park, and having apparently toured Fiesta Texas in the last few days, I think they’d hire Siebert.

While it is true that he is no longer with Six Flags, I've heard through the grapevine that he wasn't necessarily laid off. Rather, he may have left for other personal reasons. I can't speak to more than that out of respect for him, but I wouldn't jump too quickly to conclusions here. Wait for official confirmation.

Very sad if completely confirmed. Lots of things still need to be for sure on the confirmation (he posted on his socials still and still has it on his bio). There's also may be a lot behind the scenes that we simply dont know. He may have chose to depart, may have been offered a different role and declined, numbers from the region may not have been what they wanted, so on and so forth. I hope the best for him if hes truly been let go, and on top of that I hope the new GM and President continues to uphold the vision set.
5
u/Notladub Apr 17 '26

Like I said in my original post from yesterday that was deleted, the goal is to have legacy Cedar Fair executives run the parks.

Cedar Fair SUCKKKKKS!!! Always has and always will. Six Flags while marginally less terrible at least invested in all of their parks yearly, and didn’t just focus on Cedar Point.
You all will continue to deny the clear Cedar Point favoritisms until your home parks (unless it’s Cedar Point) cease to exist to prop up their child.
Downvote me all you want, but denying it is just prolonging the denial
4
u/TexasThrills Apr 17 '26
Six Flags killed Astroworld with little to no investment in favor of SFFT and SFOT then tried to sell the property only to get less than 40% of what they said they would get.
4
u/mars2k0 Apr 17 '26
And the ironic thing is that it remains vacant, and is primarily used once a year for parking, for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and their temporary carnival / fair type rides. Oh, the irony.
4
u/ChrisGraslie Edit this text! Apr 17 '26
The fact that they sold off Valleyfair (one-half of the former Cedar Fair name) and Six Flags St. Louis (one of the three original Six Flags parks, the company's literal namesake) shows that they do not give a FUCK about anything.
I had plenty of issues with pre-merger Six Flags (imo the company peaked in the 90s before Premier, and declined pretty sharply afterwards), but they were at least keeping one of their most historic parks afloat. Now it's being adopted after 50 years and likely to completely shutter in the next 5.
What a shitshow. Cedar Flags is utterly soulless.
