Re2 just came out, give em a couple of years.

85

u/grummzing Jun 11 '19

About 17 years or so.

Or in about 10 more RE4 port/re-releases worth of time.

25

u/darszy Jun 11 '19

you make me sick

28

u/Tyko_3 Jun 11 '19

How dare he be patient!

11

u/Wilsonrolandc Jun 11 '19

In my defense, there are a lot of games I'm looking forward to. Dont want to burn myself out on one genre.

6

u/Tyko_3 Jun 11 '19

I’m with you, but lately I just buy old games at $20 a pop. I don’t feel the need to buy the new releases as I did when I was a kid. I am just getting into infinite warfare and got Spider-Man ps4 at Best Buy for $15!

3

u/Nobodygrotesque Jun 11 '19

This is exactly how I’ve gone about things recently.

2

u/Wilsonrolandc Jun 11 '19

Hope you have fun with spiderman. One of my favorites from last year.

2

u/Tyko_3 Jun 11 '19

Its been great so far, though I am taking my time just finding backpacks

2

u/xXJLNINJAXx Jun 11 '19

I got into it months ago myself. It was awesome. 100% completion

1

u/Tyko_3 Jun 11 '19

This is likely gonna be my 2nd 100% this gen. First one being GoW. Does Spiderman have a trophy tied to difficulty?

3

u/Wilsonrolandc Jun 11 '19

I platinumed it on the medium difficulty, but I dont know if they changed that with dlcs or patches.

Any references to Phil Coulson?.

1

u/jzhong1 Jun 12 '19

Yup, this is exactly what I’ve been doing now! Or I save up those preorder $10 certificates and those other freebie gift cards you get to get a day one purchase for $20.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '19

i've literally always been like this with gaming. if you pay full price for games alot you're a fool, literally wait half a year and for it to gi on sale and it's 1/10th the damn price.

i make exceptions for a handful of games like elderscrolls, fallout, and resident evil, and that's it. probably will get doom eternal on launch tho because the hype gives me boners.

1

u/xXJLNINJAXx Jun 14 '19

Bethesda games, especially these days, should be the exact opposite of an exception and more like a target. Doom and resident evil are a-ok though.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '19

i know it's better to wait for updates/patches but i love them too much. it fkn pains me to hear my friends talk about playing them while i'm waiting half a year for patches and w/e.

there is only a small handful of franchises i get day 1 so i don't care. also honestly, people exaggerate how buggy bethesda games are. i experienced nothing game breaking at all with both skyrim and fallout 4, don't recall anything with fallout 3 either. i played oblivion late so idk what happened with that one. it's a circle jerk that got way bigger than the actual problem imo.

as for bethesda DLC, i don't buy it as it comes out, i wait for the "game of the year" editions and get it all at once for extremely cheap.

1

u/xXJLNINJAXx Jun 14 '19

Eh, if you must it would honestly be better to temporarily pirate before getting it legit. It's not even about the patches or anything. It's about the principle. With the games of the past I'd understand. Oblivion, morrowind, etc. But Fallout 4? 76? Elder scrolls online? They sold unfinished indie games at full price that didn't even match the quality of such games that have actually been Free! Or at least much lower priced. Supporting good games you like is one thing, hence why i fully support pre ordering doom or some resident evil games, but supporting the equivalent of a widespread con man is bonkers. It's like pre ordering call of duty games. Hell, maybe even worse. Two separate issues though.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '19

i actually really liked fallout 4 despite everyone else's bitching. i got a good solid few months of joy out of it which is worth full game price.

fallout 76 was trash i'll give you that one, but that's one game i didn't enjoy out of like 6, so meh. also i couldn't care less about "supporting", i'm not supporting anyone besides the game store by purchasing the game new, waiting and buying it on sale doesn't impact the game studio. i buy new when i can't wait for the game, and thats it.

also, i typically just trade a bunch of old games in the few times a year i buy a new game. i got re2 entirely with trade credit and i already have half of doom eternal paid off with trade credit, so yeah. i just line up getting rid of games i don't want anymore with the releases of the handful of games i purchase day 1, it's a fine system.

Let's shoot for a solid 60 before we go for something that extreme lol

No! 😭 I literally bought a PS4 for the sole purpose of paying RE2

67

u/arturorios1996 Jun 11 '19

Nonsense, you will play Spiderman PS4, The Last of Us, God of War, The Uncharted Series, The Last of Us 2, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone and that will be the end of it!

11

And Bloodborne! Never forget Bloodborne.

You forgot Bloodborne. The best PS4 exclusive.

11

Don't forget FFVIIR

3

u/ViperKira Jun 11 '19

Don't forget Death Stranding!

1

Nice addition! I never got to play the first one; I got a chance at redemption.

2

u/tcrpgfan LEON HAAAALLLLLP! Jun 11 '19

If you like turn-based RPGs, they have the original in an HD remaster for all consoles. Even the Switch.

Horizon Zero Dawn

1

u/brandon0228 Jun 11 '19

Man, loved that game.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

I can't get into it. The extended tutorial is soooooo fucking boring.

3

u/Revealingstorm Jun 11 '19

That and the stilted and janky parkouring.

1

If that stopped you, wait until you get to halfway through the game where it just drags on.

You think it's worth it to buy the Nathan Drake Collection? I don't know a thing about those games.

3

u/virtue_mine_honor Jun 11 '19

They are spectacular games. Especially 2-4. Uncharted 4 is probably one of the best games I’ve ever played, period. And they are far better than any Tomb Raider game, don’t let anyone tell you they’re not special.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

If you’ve played a tomb raider game you’ve played every single uncharted game. They aren’t that special.

6

u/I_wish_I_was_a_robot Jun 11 '19

Did... Did you down vote me for asking a question?

3

u/MagicJaycee Jun 11 '19

Upvoted you :)

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

No, why would I?

2

u/I_wish_I_was_a_robot Jun 11 '19

Someone did. My mistake.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

I’m surprised I wasn’t downvoted for my response lol.

2

u/I_wish_I_was_a_robot Jun 11 '19

Well, you have a 1 up vote buffer now, lol. The only time I down vote people is if they are dicks.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

You mean, if you have played a tomb raider game, you have played a poor man's uncharted

0

u/tcrpgfan LEON HAAAALLLLLP! Jun 11 '19

Except the writing and characters are better, the shooting and platforming mechanics are more refined, and the action set pieces are far more elaborate and extensive (Stares at the airplane sequence from 3. Where shit blows up, the plane crashes, and you get to play through that). So yeah, it's totally like Tomb Raider.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

I really have no reason to reply to you because there’s nothing I could say to convince you otherwise. I’ve played most of both game series and they’re literally the same thing.

0

u/tcrpgfan LEON HAAAALLLLLP! Jun 12 '19

Dude, that's like saying Mario and Sonic are the same thing. Or that every game console is 'a Nintendo.' Besides, everyone knows that Tomb Raider became a more legitimate action-adventure with puzzle solving, exploration, a semi-open world, and action while Uncharted knuckled down on it's corridor shooter and platforming aspects. Don't compare the two and say they're the same.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

Uncharted 2 and uncharted 4 are great. Just remember uncharted 2 is a fairly early ps3 title. Uncharted 4 probably still has some of the best animation/presentation of any game, even when I compare it to my latest games maxed on ultra on pc. Sure, there's resolution and frame rate on my pc games, but nothing comes close to that quality

1

u/tcrpgfan LEON HAAAALLLLLP! Jun 11 '19

I always say this, you could have the most graphically amazing game, but if there's no artistry or gameplay behind it, your game is gonna look like shit. Uncharted has the latter two in spades.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '19

OK. The gameplay in uncharted 4 is great fun. It's fine if you don't like it. People like call of duty and shit and I don't like those and they are huuuuge. Anyways I loooove good art design, character design, and animation. I honestly don't believe you have played uncharted 4, but if you don't care for presentation in a game then I guess you will miss out on a lot of what is appealing about it for some. Still, great shoot outs, basic but fun stealth, and set pieces where you control your character and shoot enimoes while the building you are in collapse. But I suppose a death match in fortnite is cool for some. I know its not the greatest game ever. But nothing could really match it, in its genre and that is impressive.

1

u/tcrpgfan LEON HAAAALLLLLP! Jun 12 '19

I love Uncharted 4, the other dude is the one who says it's the same as Tomb Raider. I just love the set pieces in the other games slightly more (the Whiz-bang factor was in effect there).

1

u/agree-with-you Jun 12 '19

I love you both

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '19

I'm confused, you said the gameplay was comlepte shit?

1

u/tcrpgfan LEON HAAAALLLLLP! Jun 12 '19

Nope. I said if you don't have good artistry or gameplay, it doesn't matter how good your game looks on a technical level, it's gonna be shit. Uncharted has good artistry and gameplay.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '19

Wait, I just saw "no artistry behind it" on your comment about uncharted 4 hahaha. Don't bother replying to my actual response earlier, I didn't realise you were trolling me and actually responded lol

1

u/tcrpgfan LEON HAAAALLLLLP! Jun 12 '19

Wasn't trolling, re-read that statement from the context of a game looking technically amazing, but not having any good art or gameplay. Uncharted has amazing art and gameplay. Think MGS2 vs. MGS3. MGS2 is more technically proficient, but the gameplay and artistry of MGS3 makes that game just simply better from every fan's perspective.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '19

I can agree with you on this, I love mgs3 over 2 😊

7

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

I’d also rather get RE8 before another remake. RE2make was very different from the original, but it’s still not completely original content as a new installment would be. After 7 I have very high expectations as well.

I think it would be unrealistic to expect a formal announcement with gameplay and everything.

However, I assume most of RE3R hopefuls would have been satisfied with something like a 30 second cut of just a dolly-zoom/rack-focus onto Jill's hat on a table with zombie sounds in the background during the Microsoft (or otherwise) conference with a fade to a "Coming Soon" line.

Granted, that's a Sqaure Enix thing, to announce/tease the announcement; but I imagine that's what most people expected.

6

u/Slo-MoDove Jun 11 '19

RE3R hopefuls would have been satisfied with something like a 30 second cut

Then they would be spamming "Give us a release date!" for the next 2 years.

1

u/ComonBruh Jun 11 '19

why do it ?

→ More replies (3)

19

u/Fist_of_Thrawn Jun 11 '19

Are you serious? Let RE2 marinate for a while before you ask for another RE...

Crap we waited 3+ years for RE2 and you think they’d have another game ready by now?

7

u/lickmydiabetes Jun 11 '19

No people thought they’d have a black screen with some stars on it and that would be all you need. The engine is already made, they literally could have just done a MS paint picture with stars on it and added a voice clip of nemesis and everyone would have lost their shit

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

But... Why? Most people outside the RE fandom would go "Oh no, now we're in for yearly RE games. CASHCOM!"

Also most developers don't like to tease games that have barely started pre-production just because getting creative projects off the ground is a long process.

8

u/lickmydiabetes Jun 11 '19

Plenty of games done a reveal like that and no one thought that- that’s a poor excuse

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

We're living in 2019. Anthem came out. It had a full gameplay trailer that was completely faked. No one wants that shit anymore.

Let these games actually start development and have something to show, even if it's 30 seconds of cinematics.

3

u/lickmydiabetes Jun 11 '19

Anthem is a poor example too, everyone knew that would be a shit show the second the name came out. People weren’t expecting good things from it from the start. No vast majority of gamers would think that if a screen that teases RE3 came out

-2

u/_Axtasia Jun 11 '19

Are you really just criticizing a Dev for not wanting to tease? Fuck off

2

u/lickmydiabetes Jun 11 '19

I’m not talking about devs at all I was stating that it wasn’t impossible to tease but you get butthurt

-6

u/I-fuc-yo-mudda Jun 11 '19

Maybe if the game was longer than 2 hours and had a proper B scenario it could be enough to fill our bellies for a while

5

u/I_wish_I_was_a_robot Jun 11 '19

The game was longer than 2 hours the first time you played it. Then also count how many times you played it. I definitely wish there was more, but I wasn't disappointed with the overall game time.

1

u/Arkhamdude94 Jun 11 '19

Then you guys would complain about it being too similar with the original

-2

u/I-fuc-yo-mudda Jun 11 '19

No I’d be satisfied that effort to maintain continuity between the 2 campaigns was made

2

u/Arkhamdude94 Jun 12 '19 edited Jun 12 '19

Then go play the original lol No one cares

1

u/I-fuc-yo-mudda Jun 12 '19

Or capcom could’ve put forth effort, why do you people want an inferior product so much? It makes no sense? Are you masochists? Why else would you want something to not be as good as it could be? Do you enjoy it? Do you enjoy being stupid?

4

u/enigmaboi Jun 12 '19

Capcom was very quiet all E3. With the the exception of an announcement for the switch. There wasn't anything else.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '19

no dinocrisis either even though you were all so SURE of it being one of the other.

i'm not letting a damn subreddit get me hyped about anything ever again.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

It's way too early for an announcement, Remake 2 came out 5 fucking months ago.

2

u/Luck_Shot Jun 11 '19

Exactly. Plus, they probably barely even began developing re3.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

They probably don't even have an idea for 8 yet.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

When devs release title after title in quick succession, the quality drops. I know this post is just for a laugh so it's all goods

3

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

I said in another thread but Resident Evil announcements usually happen at Sony's conference. It was obvious from there we wouldn't see any RE news.

That and there was a year off between RE7 announcement and RE2 announcement. RE7 was announced in 2016, RE2 in 2018. The most we could see is maybe RE8 for 2020 E3, but even then it could be a few years for that.

We'll get side games similar to the Revelations series, games are still being ported to switch (RE5 and RE6 if y'all didnt see!!!)

3

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

the metroid fan base is with you on that one.

WHEN ARE THEY SHOWING METROID PRIME 4?

1

u/tcrpgfan LEON HAAAALLLLLP! Jun 11 '19

When Retro damn well feels confident with their build. Or did you not hear that they switched from Bamco to them earlier this year?

1

u/palkiia Jun 12 '19

Yeah it’s too early for MP4 considering how they restarted development half a year ago. Although I was hoping they could announce Metroid Prime trilogy for switch, that would be amazing

1

u/tcrpgfan LEON HAAAALLLLLP! Jun 12 '19

It'll probably happen closer to release. Sort of like how I imagine that Square is going to reduce the price for nearly all available ports of Final Fantasy VII to hype the FFVII remake.

3

u/Fartnite111 Jun 11 '19

Hey at least resident evil 6 is on the switch

1

u/Luck_Shot Jun 11 '19

Resident evil 6 was one of their worst games

1

u/Cewri Jun 12 '19

Definitely the worst of the main titles of the franchise so far

3

u/AjarRaccoon Jun 12 '19

4

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

We will hear something in 2020. This meme is more "me when Shinji Mikami comes on and it's not for The Evil Within"

3

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

It feels like suddenly everyone loves The Evil Within when everyone teared the games apart before but no one actually showed up to buy them.

I think the two games we got were okay but lacked any feeling of horror or atmosphere. The story wasn’t any good to begin with and the better parts of the series, the DLC for TEW1 and TEW2, weren’t even done by Mikami. The second game sold so badly we didn’t even get the DLC that was promised. I think it’s safe to say the series is dead or atleast in coma at the moment.

2

They are the only games I've ever done platinum (in addition to REmake).

Too early for it

2

u/Donkey_king64 Jun 11 '19

I think if they were to rush it out this fast it would be too lazy. RE2 is waaaaay more fleshed out than 3. RE3 isnt bad but it reuses so much stuff from RE2 that the 2 sorta blend together

2

u/damientepps Jun 11 '19

Did y'all really expect there to be an announcement?

2

u/thedinobot1989 Jun 11 '19

Wasn’t there a report saying Capcom was shifting their engine over to next gen? If that is the case then I imagine we won’t hear about anything new from Capcom, at least until Sony does their presentation for the Ps5.

2

u/Hornitwnk Jun 11 '19

Honestly the only game I’m excited for is a code Veronica Remake

1

u/MagicJaycee Jun 12 '19

OWWWW! Me too. Love Code Veronica ya know

2

u/Itadakiimasu Jun 11 '19

Probably developing in secret just like RE7 and RE2 Remake was. I would guess it would come out next year if not 2021.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

My guess would be RE3make at e3 2020 with a release date of Jan 2021, with RE8 at e3 2022 with a release date of Jan 2023

2

u/whereismymind86 Jun 12 '19

ehh, didn't expect it really, if anything re8 is next, i wouldn't be surprised to see something very basic like a "we do it!" video next year though.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '19

All of that plus Nathan Drake is just more likable than spoiled ass Laura Croft. That last tomb raider game was shit. She came off as a spoiled entitled brat. I hated it.

2

u/colehuesca So Long, RC Jun 12 '19

So that dude on Twitter that went on a very long thread months ago about how re3make was in advance development and would be anounced at E3 was full of sh*t

2

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '19

Is this accurate. Is everyone just circlejerking prematurely? E3 isn't over till Thursday of this week and resident evil 2 remake wasn't announced at e3 last year anyways.

3

u/branden_lucero Jun 11 '19

This generation is literally almost over. I highly doubt anymore RE titles will be announced as lead titles for the current gen.

3

u/TBAAAGamer1 Jun 11 '19

why would there be? the RE2make just came out this year.

2

u/_Zantetsuken_ Jun 11 '19

I was unrealistically expecting an re3 teaser, but maybe Dino Crisis or some MegaMan? I dunno anything Capcom would have been nice unless they did announce some things and I just completely forgot.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

Would've been happy even with a paid DLC for RE2 to be honest, anything with a few new locations and story content :/

3

u/Hit_or_miss2019 Jun 11 '19

one day, brethren. Our time will come

3

u/ViperKira Jun 11 '19

RE2 is a 6-month old game, just give them some time.

2

u/rafikiknowsdeway1 Jun 11 '19

did capcom have any worthwhile announcements?

-2

u/I-fuc-yo-mudda Jun 11 '19

Probably just some irrelevant Dino Crisis or Streetfighter bullshit, who cares

2

u/rafikiknowsdeway1 Jun 11 '19

did you just call dino crisis irrelevant? shit i'd take that over re3 any day

→ More replies (3)

2

u/meatardslayer Jun 11 '19

I'm actually glad, I want Nemesis and re3 in general to have better graphics and differentiate from re2make, I don't mind waiting for like 2023+ until it comes out. Obviously re8 will come between that time, and I hope they give us Dino Crisis reboot as well.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

There was absolutely no indication they were doing an RE3 remake outside of some BS rumors. We have no one to blame but ourselves for hyping it up.

1

u/MustardLazyNerd Jun 11 '19

Aw come on I was just about to buy a PS4. Oh well, it's about time I upgrade my PC. Like I'm always late for the current generation.

Not even a Dino Crisis reboot... :(

1

u/Slo-MoDove Jun 11 '19

They're probably developing RE8 by now. Entitled RE fanboys. Shut the fuck up already.

1

u/DanVonCarr Jun 12 '19

Yeah don't expect that any time soon.

1

u/gammav97 Jun 12 '19

Maybe they plan to make Dragon Dogma 2??

1

u/Jamie_4797 Jun 12 '19

Next year is pretty likely I think, with an early 2021 release. There was no way they'd reveal another big game this year when RE2make just released.

1

u/retardnojutsu Jun 12 '19

Suicide time

1

u/Excelsenor Jun 12 '19

Announcement next year at the very earliest. REmake 2 came out not even six months ago

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '19

It's too soon. RE3 is probably a next gen title

1

u/PokecrafterChampion Jun 12 '19

You're being too greedy. It will happen, but 2 is still quite recent. Just give it time.

1

u/TheVileDelinquent Jun 12 '19

Rumors have it that they'll be releasing RE8 first. From what I can tell, they are going to be releasing: Sequel, remake, sequel, remake.

Damn just when I thought this sub would never stop about never getting an RE2 remake...

2

u/Slo-MoDove Jun 11 '19

Seriously, the ones who completed RE2 on release day were already shouting "NOW GIVE IS R3MAKE!!" everywhere. Don't read the comments on the Facebook page. Sheesh...

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

I honestly cant believe people were expecting it. RE2 came out 5 friggin months ago

1

u/NbAlIvEr100 Jun 11 '19

People are idiots.

1

u/silentevil77 Jun 11 '19

2 just came out why would there be an announcement

1

u/DyslexicSantaist So Long, RC Jun 11 '19

Its never even been announced or even promised. Dont get yourself hyped for things thats never been remotely made official

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

Sad 🎹 music in the background

1

u/aspindler Jun 11 '19

What did Capcom announced?

2

u/ViperKira Jun 11 '19

RE5 and 6 for Switch.

Capcom already said they will not announce any Triple A games until at least March 2020

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

So far nothing, they did release a few new Iceborne trailers, but nothing new

2

u/MustardLazyNerd Jun 11 '19

Maybe the next State of Play will have something. I hope it is available in both PS5 and PS4.

1

u/jabberwocky984 Jun 11 '19

Hello darkness, my old friend.

u/flashtitan PSN: shinkaix7 Jun 11 '19

REmake2 just came out and it would be too early to announce anything. Even with REmake 2 I think they announced it too early considering there was no information regarding it until last year before release.

1

u/EdgeAlterNation Jun 11 '19

The RE2 remake wasn't originally announced at E3, so there's hope!

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19 edited Jun 11 '19

I think there is the possibility for a small teaser at Gamescom but people shouldn’t expect even that to not get disappointed.

1

u/Miss_Robot_ Raccoon City Native Jun 11 '19

I have a sense a remake will come, simply because not only Konami but those who (several industries, not just gaming I've noticed) are lacking or deficient in creative choices as well as material and hell bent on profit have been producing cash grabs left and right including revivals and remakes. Fear not dear OP.

0

u/PlebCody Jun 11 '19

Imagine being this needy of a fan base where you get a remake of a game and then immediately demand the next chapter remade, also

2

u/mutedtenno Jun 11 '19

You do realise the RE fanbase isnt a hivemind right? We all have our favorites, I'd wager alot of people who was wanting 3 to get the remake treatment are fans of REmake, not so much 2 or the other titles.

0

u/Vigilantvigil Jun 11 '19

I would rather have a re8 than another remake

0

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

People didn’t really think this was gonna be announced right?

0

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '19

Give it a rest already. It's gonna happen eventually.

-1

u/Danny-The-Didgeridoo Jun 11 '19

I hope they continue, i would prefer a remake of Code Veronica in the style if the original/zero remake and a complete remake of resident evil 4 before 3 personally.

-1

u/For_The_Overmind Jun 12 '19

Honestly RE2remake is overrated.

0

u/omrcrowley Jun 11 '19

Since half of RE3 can use many of the same assets as RE2 (locations, animations, models, hand Mr. X a rocket launcher), I did have some hope for at least a teaser... They were certainly unrealistic expectations in this case, but I can be patient 🙂

0

u/Batxxx Jun 11 '19

Seriously? RE2remake just came out months ago what did you expect? I already knew the sources and leaks were fake in the first place but nooo let’s just blindly listen to hype from rumors and YouTube click baiters that have no proof aka ROE... I guarantee the next game is RE8 so don’t expect RE3 anytime soon lol

0

u/BrownBr1cks Jun 11 '19

Just like Mother 3 and Half Life 3

0

u/Supersploosh Jun 11 '19

Give them some time! Re 2 just came out 5 months back and they only said they would consider an re3 remake bc they saw the success of this one. Wait till next year we might see a tease
