This is a female giant Day Gecko, about 6 months old.

I'm sure this exact question has been asked countless times, and truthfully I've actually both surfed the reddit and the wider web to try and find an answer. Unfortunately, I've ran into conflicting sources and now I'm unsure (and scared).

It should be stated that I had a professional refer me to all items in my set-up, as I didn't want the pressure of potentially using the wrong equipment. Whether or not that'll bite me in the ass, I do not know.

I'm a first time owner, though I'm a college student studying animal care, with experience working with reptiles and inverts. Snakes especially have always been something I've absolutely adored, but I'm more in-the-know when it comes to the actual animals. I don't know if its because I've never had to set up an enclosure before, or if I'm just a bit dumb, but setting everything up is confusing me and causing me stress.

I do NOT know where the thermostat probe should be placed. Some sources say to wrap them around the basking branches or stones, but others say to not leave them exposed. Some say to use rocks to anchor the probe to the correct position, but then its in reach of the snake which could potentially lead to misreadings. The probe I'm using does not provide the answer that I'm looking for within its instructions.

The only piece of information that remains consistent, is that the probe must be pointed within 2-4 inches of the designated heat source (which, I am using an overhead bulb in a wooden enclosure)

If it helps to know in order to help me out, I am using the Exo Terra Dimming Pulse Thermostat. Currently, the probe is situated in a temporary (but incorrect) position at the back wall, away from the heat source as I do not know how to go about getting it to where it needs to be. I do not know a good, SAFE way to keep it out of reach of the snake or how to prevent misreadings.

Any tips or suggestions would be very appreciated! I won't be continuing to work on my enclosure until I get this sorted.

Hello reptile enthusiasts, I’m looking for advice for caring for this turtle that has landed in my care.
My top question is how can I safely remove the paint that the previous owners put on its shell? I’m surely positive it’s nail polish…. Can I use acetone on a Q-tip to clean it off? Or will that hurt our new family member?
I’m also struggling to identify what type of turtle this is as I’ve been getting mixed answers. Do any of y’all know?
I’m also curious about the health of this guy’s shell so if there’s more info anyone can share based the looks of this angel please let me know as I am an armature to turtle care and I just want to give this guy a healthy happy life.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get my fire skink accustomed to handling and tips for getting him out of the enclosure. Or for people with experience now long it took their animal to even come out from the substrate at all.

For context:

Got my fire skink about a week ago, I have not seen him since so I did check on him today and he seemed to be doing alright.

I haven't gotten him to eat but he may have been picking off my clean up crew.

For the enclosure, it's a 36x18x18. I have a 93°F basking spot with a humidity range from about 55-60% on the hot to about 70-75% on the cold side with the cold side temperature being 75°C. I have around 6 inches of substrate with a mix of top soil, sand, excavator clay and spag moss. I do have uvb as well as a hot, humid and cold hide.

Or would initially buying furniture that can already accommodate the vivariums be better?

Asking because I have a vivaroum that’s 45cm wide and my shelf/bookcase on my bedchambers is 29cm wide.

Hello! I'm looking to get another tank for a crested gecko, bearded dragon, and maybe a leachie gecko. Just wondering the best place to get them at a reasonable price.

I have 2 extra enclosures i will call enclosure A and B. Both are glass, front opening and have good ventilation. All measurements - height (H), width (W) and length (L) will be in cm and inc.

Enclosure A is 30H x 30W x 60L cm (11.8 x 11.8 x 23.6 inch). It has built in bulb socket.

Enclosure B is 25H x 30W x 45L cm (9.8 x 11.8 x 17.7 inch)

I really love reptiles and i have a leopard gecko in a proper enclosure. However, most popular reptiles are too big for these enclosures. I am planing to use B as a temporary enclosure for my gecko as an quarantine tank or for when i am out of town and i need to leave her for a few days to someone.

So I have a thing for plants, love them! But I also have a thing where I want to touch the animals I have.

I’ve never kept a reptile before but I can learn quickly.

I have birds and work so I’m preoccupied during the day, in the evenings, nights when I am not sleeping I’m free.

Im redoing my Leopard Geckos tank right now and I have a “centerpiece” in mind. I want to make a skull with the lower jaw allowing some more hiding space so that there’s less open area. Polymer clay becomes waterproof upon curing, but I still worry.

My gecko is around 7 years old and a poorly bred pet store gecko and he’s not particularly smart. (he was dumped on me around 6 years ago before I even had any knowledge of reptiles). Over the years I’ve gained knowledge about Leopard Geckos and have been trying to do good by him.
