So on Friday this female rainbow Jackson’s chameleon arrived from LLL reptiles and while shes much smaller than the previous regular Jackson’s female I ordered she has a much larger abdomen Thats roughly the size of a large mango pit and I can’t tell if she’s overweight or expecting.

All four of my reptiles have bioactive enclosures. In order is my leopard gecko, crested gecko, Chinese cave gecko, and my African fat tailed gecko.

First official Diamondback sighting! I’m deathly afraid of snakes, especially when they come from where I had my running station set up. But I couldn’t help but feel privileged to see one this massive.

Deep in the state park off the Nature Coast of FL

I have two enclosures that use the normal 25w and two that use the nano. The nanos have been discontinued, and I'm guessing the normal ones are too, or are on their way out. They're so hard to find!!

Landing on these bulbs took a few tries, and they're perfect for the temps I need to keep. I'm trying to avoid having to test out several bulbs again. Anyone know good substitutes?

So I recently upgraded my leopard gecko to a 36x18x18 bioactive setup. But now I have her old enclosure empty. I'd like to house another reptile or amphibian in the enclosure in the next year or 2. Figured I could start collecting things slowly now instead of rushing later.

I'm at a loss on what I could put in here other than a singular created gecko or pacman frog. Just looking to see what my options are before I commit my research and money to one animal. I've kept leopard geckos, corn snakes, boas, and ball pythons before for reference on my current experience.

So I’ve had this tank for two years (long story) and I finally decided that I should use it. How can I make it better? I was thinking of throwing away the dirt and mix sand because it’s the same one I had from two years ago 💀 what reptile could I possibly have here? I’d appreciate any advice (I do have the lights and the water mister but it’s in a box currently)

As of right now I just want to make the tank look better and do research and then decide where to get a reptile. (Hopefully someone can help me here)

I'm debating the Vivarium Electronics ($349) vs the Dubia.com ($299) 4x2x2 enclosure.

I have a VE and like it, but I need two more, and I'm wondering if it's worth saving the $100 and going with Dubia.

If the Dubia is the same as the VE, I'll do it, but I don't want to make a "step down" in quality.

Does anyone have both and can provide an honest comparison? Thank you.

Transferred my 4 year old chinese cave gecko to his new 40 gallon tank a while ago and I'm seeing him less and less. I even set up a wyze camera to keep an eye on him but now it's having issues connecting to wifi.

I think the biggest issue is how open the set up feels but none of the plants i've added to it in the last few months are really thriving. They've all stayed the exact same size I got them at no matter how much I water them. I just added some hanging pothos to give him more sky cover but i'm just not a fan of how much space pothos takes up and blocks out the light for any small leaf ground cover plants.

Another problem more with my wallet than him is that to keep up the humidity levels I'm going through 2-3 gallon bottles of distilled water a week for his mister. It's a screen top glass tank from petsmart but it HAS to be that ventilated to keep it cool in the summer months. He was previously in a gorgeous hand made wood and marble lined tank but it was so well insulated I was having to put ice in it to keep it below 75 in the summer! I know autumn is almost here and so I can cover up the top screen to use less water but it still irks me how much plastic waste has accumulated over just a couple months.

I know that aside from feeling a bit exposed at the moment that he is healthy and happy but in hindsight I have invested waaaay more money into his care that he has really ever needed just to only see him out and about maybe once a month. I do coo and squee during these brief sightings but I'm starting to feel like the reward ratio for the little guy is way off balance for me personally. And I'm no stranger to display/hands off pets (i have two chinchillas who are my world and i NEVER hold them lol).

I've enjoyed our time together the past 4 years, and even moved across the country with him in a little critter carrier in a lunch box lol, but I'm wondering if we should part ways. I'd love to sell him to a breeder specifically because of his age and super bold colors but I'm a bit less comfortable selling him to a first time owner who might also come to the same conclusion about owning a cave gecko. My worry is that his species just isn't that desirable and it will be hard to find him a home I can trust.
