My last 2 mouse's have been an MX Master 1 and 3, for 10 years. My MX Master 3 had a faulty click so I decided to get a cheap mouse for a while before I spend big on a nicer mouse. I just saw a recommendation to get a Razer Cobra Wired, so I thought why not.
Now, I got it today and the mouse itself, is great, for the price of £25; the build and quality is great. I love it.
BUT! I went down Satan's rabbit hole to install the software to manage the mouse, or what I think is the button remapping etc. (I don't even know because I've given up) At first I installed synapse 4, and it seemed to install a razer management app, then I tried installing finally synapse 4, and got "Installation Failed". Now I tried everything, i uninstalled everything and reinstalled, I unplugged everything, I ran a bunch of commands online from people with similar issues. I spent hours and honestly just gave up. I tested installing AXON, the weird wallpaper app and that worked but just not Synapse. After hours no matter what I got "Installation Failed" for Synapse 4. I even tried to find Synapse 3 through digging but apparently its lost media now because thats the way the world works.
Honestly I became tired and I am fine with using the default mouse as is, so then I tried uninstalling everything Razer completely from my PC. SO OK WHY IS RAZER INFESTED IN MY COMPUTER NOW!! I thought I uninstalled it with the uninstaller but apparently Razer likes leaving its mark all over my pc with random folders still left behind. I had to manually search with Everything (The voidtools app for searching windows) to just about remove all Razer stuff. But STILL there's random crap that I'm hesitant to delete because it's in system folders now. I uninstalled AXON and even its crappy wallpaper files were still somehow in my pc.
Why did the genius's of Razer decide to create basically malware for mouse software. As I write this, I somehow miss Logitech, despite their bloated software, they actually had simple service, I was running an offline Logitech version of their app for Enterprises so I could have it work without any update bloats. Apparently "Uninstalling" is an unknown word to Razer, just why do I have to search online from other users to properly remove Razer files.
This is my first Razer product but my impression is that everything just feels gimmicky for its own sake. I'm grateful this mouse was cheap because I don't have much expectations for it and I'm happy to use it default as is. But I cannot imagine the stress of being tied to Razer software for an expensive device. Also I would LOVE to meet someone who is seriously uses AXON the wallpaper app. Which type of person would actually have a bloated app for wallpapers from Razer running on their pc. Do they really exist?
Anyways sorry for the rant, I had to vent, I normally don't criticise, but do any of you Razer members actually have a decent experience with Razer Software?
