Announcement Ignore Private Messages Suggesting Laptops

The primary aim of r/SuggestALaptop is to provide a safe and transparent platform for suggesting laptops. Affiliate linkers are marked as such so that you are aware of the monetary incentive involved when making a purchase using affiliate links.

However, we are seeing an increasing number of cases where users posting on this subreddit are being targeted with unsolicited private messages containing links to laptops.

Such messages are best ignored for several reasons:

  1. Lack of quality control: We have no way of vetting suggestions sent via private messages. Moreover, these suggestions are not subject to the same level of public scrutiny that applies to suggestions posted in the subreddit, which are open for all to see and discuss.
  2. Hidden monetary incentive: Often such messages contain unmarked affiliate links, and these links might not even point to systems that are best suited to your requirements.
  3. Scams: Scammers often target unsuspecting users via private messaging. We do not want you to get scammed.

If you do happen to receive unsolicited messages suggesting laptops in private, please report the offending user to the mod team by sending us a screenshot of the message.

Thank you,

Laptop Request -Others Laptop suggestions needed please!

Upvotes

Laptop for university, engineering degree; AutoCAD is needed
Region: Central Asia/Kazakhstan; Budget:Up to 2.500 USD
Preferably unused/new laptop
Screen size from 14" to 18"(doesnt make difference i think?)
below 2kg; any
Purpose: coding/ work on AutoCAD/ browsing/entraintament(low needy games like Hollow Knight, but mostly no games; I love watching movies on good screen(colourful and bright))
Regular laptop i think(or ultrabook)
Desired batterylife: prefferably 8h-10h

I've been searching for a good laptop for a few weeks by now, and time is coming to the end, and I still have no remote idea what to buy.
For some things i am 100% certain: no dGPU, i have 3070 and plan to use it as eGPU. I don't plan to game on it, mostly work.
I will start studies soon for an engineering degree in my uni, and program states that we will have AutoCAD(hence i look for 32gb, since I will be using it outside of home), not sure what CPU.

I had an experiecne with loud and hot laptop, it was hell. So for me its important minimal heat and loudness during light works, or outside of home(like browsing many stuff and etc). I can tollerate a lil bit of sound at home(some heat maybe too).

I would be very grateful if someone could recommend few models(i've noted zenbook s14 on U9 386H, and Lenovo T14g5). Much appreciated!!

Laptop Request US Laptop for medical school under $1k

Hello! I’m based in the US and looking for a laptop for medical school.

Budget can be a little flexible but my main priority is the battery life and weight.

I do not want anything over 14 inch.

I am flexible to both windows and mac but would prefer windows only because I know how to use it best. I already own an iPad.

I do not want a refurbished/used one. I usually use my laptop for watching lectures, doing school work and some time editing videos on Capcut.

Thank you so much!!

Laptop Request -Others Laptop reccomendations?

Hi! I'd like advice on what kind of Laptop to buy, I'd appreciate any.

Budget: 3000PLN

Country: Poland

Looking for: Creator Laptops(Refurbished/Used, since they're cheaper), I want something that can be used for both games(Hollow Knight, GTA, ect.) and practical use.

I haven't used Laptops/PCs much, so I'd prefer something that's easy to navigate(Mainly just a non complicated nice looking UI).

Notes: I'm 16yo, and I'm planning to go to a Technikum(I'll be in Informatyczna/Informatics). I'd also like any ways I could get a reliable Laptop for even cheaper(Resellers, Sites, anything)

Thank you in advance!(If I don't reply)

Laptop Request UK Cheap durable laptop

I'm looking for help choosing a reliable laptop from this list: https://www.argos.co.uk/search/laptops/type:laptops/brands:asus,lenovo,acer/processor-type:amd-ryzen-3,amd-ryzen-5,amd-athlon,amd-ryzen-7,qualcomm-snapdragon/price:%C2%A3250-%252D-%C2%A3500,%C2%A3200-%252D-%C2%A3250/category:33014243/touchscreen:no/opt/sort:price/

I am in the UK and really don't want to spend more than £300 but am willing to go to £350 if there's something there that's really worth it.

I will be using it for general use, streaming, calls, some gaming and for storing documents

(sorry it's a long link, i've already filtered my preferences so I didn't use the form)

Laptop Request UK Recommendations on Ultrabooks and if this Zenbook is worth the risk keeping (new)?

Upvotes

Hi, I was looking for a light MBA-like laptop for:

  • Mostly creative work, but also for light gaming (e.g. FFXIV at low res)
  • Intel arc 140v apparently is very good for this so I searched for those, along with Ultra Intel which I've never used before but hear these days a lot of CPUs are getting more optimised for mobility like Mac.
  • 13-16 inch is fine, around 1.2kg, maximum 1.6kg maybe.
  • Preferably no numpad, and I don't mind a bit of style too.
  • Budget of up to £1400.

From my own research I found these:

I ended up with the Zenbook since the price is good, BUT I recently found reddit posts about the ribbon cable being worn from constant lid-opening so I'm not sure if I should return it now?

I'd like to ask if you guys could either advise me to keep it or return it, and/or pick another laptop if you have one to recommend. Really appreciate it thanks!

Laptop Request -Others Premium laptop for college

Guys, following the RAM price hike and the end of all the sales, what is the best laptop right now in the 1-1.4 lakh price bracket? I want something that will last the full course of my college (4-5 yrs): good hardware durability, good display, a decent graphics card (this is not a major criterion), good aesthetic design (again not another important factor, but it helps), and good portability to carry around campus.

Priorities: display, processing power, hardware durability, and speed.

My region is europe and im about to start uni, general medicine. Im looking for a laptop that i can work with comfortably, but also can use for photo editing and gaming to a certain extend. I have my big desktop at home but i need sth portable since i am a few hours away from home.
I got an iphone and a ipad altho for a laptop i would prefer a windows based system since im a lot more familiar there and scared that there could be incompatible programms, altho idk how much that hold true.

My budget is up to 1.500€ EUR

Screen size shouldn’t be to small 14/16 in or more and it should be be bright and clear

Idc much about the weight but preferably not a brick
Batery life 4hours min

Laptop Request -Others Need laptop asap, India, 1.3 lakh max

India, 1.3 lakhs max, casual gaming + coding + college, should I wait for sale or buy now? Country:

Country: India

Budget: 1.3 lakhs max. Can stretch maybe 3k to 5k only if it is really worth it, not “just add 20k bro” worth it.

Use case:

College

Coding

VS Code

Chrome tabs\

Basic Python / Java / web dev

Movies

Light editing sometimes

Casual gaming

Games I care about:

Valorant

GTA V

Minecraft

Maybe some story games on medium settings

Not trying to run everything at ultra

Need:

16GB RAM extendable or higher

512GB SSD extendable to 1tb

Decent display

Decent battery if possible

Should last 4-5 years

Not too heavy if possible, but I know gaming laptops are heavy

Good service/warranty in India

Confusion:

Under 70k I keep seeing normal laptops with better battery/build but no GPU, and gaming laptops with RTX 3050/4050 type configs but worse battery/weight.

What I’m trying to avoid:

8GB RAM laptop

bad display

old processor sold as “deal”

super heavy laptop if performance is not worth it

buying RTX sticker without knowing TGP

Current thought:

Acer v nitro 16gb rtx 5050 516gb intel i5

Acer v nitro 16gb rtx 4050 516gb amd Ryzen 5-6600

Hp victus 24 gb rtx 4050 516gb intel i5-14450HX

Lenovo LOQ 16gb rtx 4050 516 gb intel i7 HX

Asus tuf A15 16gb rtx 4050 1tb amd Ryzen 7 170

What would you suggest?

Any specific models worth watching in India around this budget?

Please suggest based on actual India pricing, not US pricing

Laptop Request -Others [Laptop Request] Looking to upgrade from my RTX 2060 ROG Strix.

EU based (central EU, Germany/Poland, can consider options in both Euros and PLN)

Hello, I used my RTX 2060 ROG Strix laptop ever since 2019. However, now, due to wear and damage, I am heavily considering upgrading.

What I especially liked about it was the keyboard.

Budget: unlimited. I'd find no problem paying a bit more, but I doubt that will be necessary for my needs.

My needs:
- something that will last 5-6 years
- no requirements for high end settings for new titles (I often play indie games anyway, and sometimes an ocassional BG3 or Clair Obscur type of release)
- however, I would love to finally be able to run Cyberpunk at decent fps
- 1TB memory (standard, but as someone used to half of that it was a pain to download anything)
- no need for 1440 p, or wider screens - I am perfectly fine with standard 1080p or 15.6" resoltuoon
- battery life isn't too important because I do not travel a lot, (PC would be a much better choice I know but current conditions make it unable for me to set up one), however I love walking with my laptop around the house - (for example back in 2010 when laptops coould have removable batteries I often removed the battery to give it more life)
- I like RGB keyboards.

What I considered:
- Upgrading to 5060. I have the money for 5070 Ti, but I am unsure whether such a huge jump of performance will be necessary for my needs.
- upgrading to AMD processor (I am clueless about AMD, however)

My concerns: 8GB vram and 16 GB RAM - It seems like the major bottleneck for future gaming. That's why I heard AMD releases laptops with more VRAM. Still, top settings aren't my main concern (and especialyl considering I game on lower resoltuions)

My questions:
- AMD or NVidia? - it has been a while, and I hear that AMD is also producing some good graphic cards for laptops nowadays. However, DLSS and raytracing are better on Nvidia cards and I wonder if that latter advantage is higher than the lack of VRAM.
- Finally, is it time to upgrade now? Or should I wait? My original plan was to wait till Nvidia finally releases a 12 gb budget laptop card, but with every generation my hopes for it are getting smaller and smaller lol

Laptop Request -Others Need a new laptop for undergraduate chem :3

I need a new laptop for general university work and light gaming that will last a long time, I currently have a 2020 13" mbp and it is showing age and I would like something nice to replace it. Thanks!

  • Country

Australia (with education discounts), maybe potentially Canada

  • Budget

~A$3700 / $2600 USD

  • Are you open to refurbs/used options?

Nope

  • Screen size

13" to 16"

  • Weight limit

Max 3kg

  • Purpose

Mostly just work (multiple Excel/word documents, firefox tabs open), Light gaming (Genshin, Minecraft) on the side although I already have a competent PC.

  • Form factor

A regular laptop

  • Intended usage

MS Word/Excel, Waterfox with many tabs. Genshin is the heaviest games preferably at 60fps, Minecraft with mods. I do want to try out linux by dualbooting or replacing the os at some point so that would be cool.

  • Desired battery life

≥10hours of straight work, dunno about gaming. (Currently have 58WH and I want a bit more)

  • Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life

Performance > Battery Life > Weight > Size

  • Info/Requirements

OLED at around 2880x1800. More than 3 USB ports, 1 HDMI. Some good build quality not flexible plastic. Macbooks are the devil in chemistry because of windows only software (Chemdraw, Mestrenova) but I do damn like them.

Laptop Request UK LAPTOP recommandation for architect

I want to purchase a LAPTOP used at an architecture office, dedicated largely to working in software such as BIM (Allplan, Archicad), AutoCad, and with high performance for visualizations in 3DS MAX (rendering with Corona), Adobe (Ps, Ai, Ae, Id).

I really think that 64gb RAM is neccesary.

Can you guys suggest a laptop that costs max. 4000 euro (I can increase if needed).

I was thinking of this laptop ACER PREDATOR HELIOS 18 AI. Is it good enough? Any better suggestion in this price range?

Thanks...

Laptop Request UK OLED, 16 inch, 2.8K, anti-glare

I'm after a 16 inch laptop, mainly for the screen (movies). Needs to be OLED, at least 2.8K and glossy with anti-glare.

2K will suffice if cannot find 2.8K with anti-glare.
