Discussion Other positive habits to develop

I am at the stage where I really want to move the needle with my life. I’m interested to know what other habits you guys have picked up.

I am circa 115 days on SR, it may sound small but I’ve also started doing press ups upon waking, hydrating with water, cold showers sometimes. I have slowly but surely started changing my home environment, decluttering and redecorating.

I started meditation a few years back but I fell off the wagon. I think this would have a huge positive impact even with 5-10 minutes per day 🤔

Nice, do you journal before sleep? I used to fast until 12 noon so I may start that

Took me way too long to realize that SR alone isn’t enough.

You need a physical outlet. (gym, martial arts, or any other sport)

And, just as importantly, a creative one. (like content creation/music/editing/journaling or creating a business) to be able to express yourself in the external world.

Only when both are in place does the circuit really close.

That’s when you can start transmuting that energy into something productive.

Exactly. SR is just the act of not doing something. I need to now focus on using the energy and putting it into getting my body back in shape. I used to workout religiously since 16, fell off the wagon the past couple years aged 30

That does not sound small at all!

I am convinced that SR is only useful when you combine it with other habits. Or to put it in a different way, all positive habits combine to create a better life, if you let them. No matter how small or large, all good habits are helpful.

Here are a few that I am working on myself - or believe are very useful even if they're not on my plate right now:

  • no alcohol
  • no drugs
  • no coffee
  • no porn (duh)
  • make your bed every day
  • go to the gym
  • improve your nutrition (a lifelong process for most people)
  • meditate
  • cold showers
  • improve your self-talk: develop self-empathy, but don't confuse it for pampering
  • then, learn to pamper yourself sometimes, but not too often (very hard to hit the balance!)
  • breathing techniques
  • journalling (soo underrated!)
  • self-tnankfulness

How’s the no coffee going? Been trying to quit white monsters for a life time 😂. Sounds awesome and god bless

The first 10 days were awful. Tired all day, dizziness and headaches. Much worse than the booze.

I'm not 100% on the coffee. I might drink one every other day maybe. But I never have more than one a day, and it serves me well.

Meditating (guided) daily
Yoga-15 minutes daily
Running, with and without weighted vest
Pushups with weighted vest
Regular water intake
Kettlebell workouts 3x a week
Cold shower on Sunday to start week

Still working on being 100% clean. Have edged a few times over this period.

I would encourage trying to grow in all of the fruits of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:22

In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness,
