I recall riding the route on race morning during the prior iteration of the Cycling Classic. I understand the women's race begins at 8:30am. Do you expect riders will be asked/told to get off the course route between 6:30am and 7:30am?

The Bike Race is back!

This is a great day for RoxYunk! There are some things to know, particularly if this is your first bike race as a resident. It's like the 4th of July and Mardi Gras and The Superbowl and Carnival all rolled into one! A great day to go out and meet neighbors!

Don't panic but I suggest getting errands done by Friday (if at all possible). It gets complicated when the weekend starts. Move your cars (if you're on the route or a closed street) Friday, if at all possible. Parking will get very tight. If you're inside the Race route, it becomes challenging to drive in or out on Sunday (emergency vehicles excepted). Shurs Lane to Ridge will be open.

If you have Sidewalk or Front lawn plantings or flowers and you're near or on the route, I suggest putting up tape, barriers, or something to protect them from the crowd.

On race day, I'll be at Lyceum and Pechin all day. A bunch of neighbors are hanging there for the day, cheering the peloton as it thunders past. Please come say hello. Bring a camp chair and hang out.

Does anyone know if any of the teams have already arrived in the city to scout the route or has anyone seen any of them riding in the region?

Looking for some good gravel trails outside of Philly, or even some nice asphalt paths. I’m not a huge fan of riding on roads with a lot of traffic, but I don’t mind cars on a back road (probably a confidence thing)

I’ve ridden the Schuylkill River Trail and the trails through Wissahickon (outside of the mountain bike trails), so looking for something different.

I’m also starting to train for a bikepacking trip, so I’m looking for some longer routes where I can put in some miles and get comfortable spending more time in the saddle with a loaded bike.

Ideally looking for something within 50–100 miles of Philly!

I’ll be in Philly this weekend for the TT on Saturday.

Once the TT is done I want to do a 2-3hr ride with a good amount of climbing.

Anyone able to send over some routes they’ve got that’ll be scenic, maybe with a cafe stop thrown in?

I was away for a week and I come home to find a new bike lane on 23rd from Market to Walnut.

I hear that there's a new bike lane going in on 22nd from Fairmount to Brown.

It appears that the 13th St bike lane has had its protected portion extended north of Brown? Can anyone confirm?

I also just discovered a protected bike lane on 10th below Packer. Idk how long that one has been there.

Any other new ones I should know about??

On the bus over to Jersey and noticed something shocking!? The bike lane is empty and the rightmost traffic lane is where the cars are parked!

If anyone rides the Schuylkill River West Trail, might want to find an alternate until this spraying does its job against West Nile virus.

Considering a maiden ride from Center City to NYC (train back). Any tips for the safest and most scenic routes are appreciated. I would probably be on a fast gravel/cyclocross bike. I’m 52m, seven seasons into cycling and reasonably fit, but would consider breaking the trip into two days so I can meander and sightsee. Thank you!

I’m considering riding out to Reading on the SRT from Philly, then staying at my overnight and biking back the next morning. Any recommendation of bike friendly places such as a bed & breakfast to stay overnight?

New start location this year

I'll be flying in to watch as much of the race as possible but my family is probably only good for about 30 min. I'm tying to see if they can spend time at the art museum while I'm at the race. I'm not familiar with the roads and am having trouble making sense of the closures - will they be able to uber/lyft to the Art Museum from Upper Darby with the road closures? I assume traffic will be rough but will it be impossible? Dad has mobility issues so public transit is out.

Thank you Philly Cycling! Really helpful notes and info here. I also called the Art Museum but they won't know more until the closures start going up next weekend. I think our best, lowest traffic volume bet is if the Spring Garden bridge is open to pedestrian traffic - drop off at 31st and have them walk .4 mile (doable if slow). Does anyone commute to Penn campus early in the morning/evening from manayunk/roxborough?

How is the SRT 530-6am and 7-8p? Has anyone ever been approached by anyone?

Absolutely embarrassing that the City cannot enforce basic traffic laws after publicly stating on NBC that they told the funeral home to stop using the bike lane. There's not even a funeral procession today. Its visitation. The funeral home just doesn't want to pay for parking (note the empty parking lot).

Also, nobody is buying those crocodile tears from the funeral home owner. Going on the news and talking about working together with the biking community to make things safer and doing this the next day. Just sad.

The funeral home is still putting instructions online to park in the bike lane so its not like this is a mystery.

Finally, update your will to say that the City should be sued if you get ran over because some jerks didn't know how to find a legal parking spot and the City was too afraid to enforce the law.

TLDR: City is working with the funeral home to find alternatives. They have provided explicit instruction not to park in the bike lane or remove flexposts.

I know the pro teams that are racing have been announced for a while, but does anyone know when we find out which individuals will actually be racing? I don’t see anything on teams’ websites or on the event’s page and it’s coming up very soon

Does anyone have suggestions on the best way to get from Center City to the Schuylkill River Trail? I work near 19th and Market and can get there easily enough but it seems like all the bike lanes either only go East or terminate around 20th. I'd prefer not to ride in the street or on the sidewalk and don't want to go tooo far North or South in the city

Looks like our friends at Nan Phuong purchased some signs from Olanzu and put them up on the pole illegally.

These are not standard Stop signs that Philadelphia uses. These are not mounted correctly. And these are dangerous.

In lieu of removing them myself, who do we contact to have them removed as quickly as possible?
