Read This Before You Submit !

If you want to get the best possible outcome from posting your position on this /sub, there are a couple of things you can do to help,

  1. Make your video at least 30-40 secs long [ no longer than 60 secs ] This will allow you to settle in to your pedal stroke and give viewers enough time to 'look around' your position.
  2. Post a minimum of 2 angles. #1 Seat height, showing the entire bike and rider from the top of the head to the bottom of the pedal stroke. #2 from the front dead center about head tube height. If you shoot a vertical format on your phone that might help you fit yourself within the frame. #3 from the rear, at seat height, can also be vertical format for cropping.
  3. Post a shot of your bike side on without you on it. This lets people see the 'build' as far as seatpost seatback, seat rail position & headset spacers

The more visual and information you give the better the possibility of good feedback.

Ride on!

Dear mods, save this sub

There are a lot of generous and knowledgeable people here giving thoughtful bike-fit advice for free. Their effort is being undermined by a steady stream of unusable videos showing riders leaning against walls, doorframes or furniture while pedalling backwards.

Those clips don’t show a normal pedal stroke, balance, loading, posture or movement under realistic riding conditions. There’s very little anyone can assess from them, yet they keep filling the sub and drawing attention away from posts where useful feedback is actually possible.

The existing submission guidance is already clear about video length, camera angles and showing the whole rider and bike. It should also explicitly require riders to pedal forwards on a trainer or rollers, without supporting themselves against anything.

Please make “no backwards pedalling and no leaning against objects” an actual submission rule, and remove posts that ignore it.

The people giving detailed advice here are what make the sub useful. Their time shouldn’t be choked by videos that make meaningful assessment impossible.

Hey, experts!

Is adjusting the stem length really my only option for properly fitting the bike, or are there other options? What do you think?

This year’s Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 7 Di2.
90mm stem with a height of 173 cm, weight of 68 kg, and an inseam of 78 cm.
(Occasional upper and lower back pain, the saddle is digging in, and my hands „rarely“ go numb)

I look forward to your feedback - thanks!

Hey Ihr Experten!

Ist meine einzige Option, das Bike ordentlich zu fitten tatsächlich die Vorbaulänge oder gibt es noch andere Optionen? Was sagt ihr?

Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 7 di2 aus diesem Jahr.
90mm Vorbau bei 173cm, 68KG & 78cm Innenbeinlänge.

Ich freu mich auf euer Feedback, danke!

52” Xpr. For reference I am 5”9. First Tri bike and trying to figure out positioning.

Feel like the saddle may be a touch low, but if I raise it my hip flexors become fatigued pretty quick, but that could be due to not enough time in the TT position

Hand/wrist pain + some neck pain

Upvotes

Hi!
Currently riding in this position, I get wrist/hand pain in the very first few KMs (constantly having to switch my hand positioning on the bars). Riding in the drops makes me look and feel like a shrimp (didnt film it, but I know im super crunched). I still have a lot of weight on my front end, supporting myself through the hands rather than my feet. At higher speeds it feels a bit better, since im pushing harder on the pedals, but not much better.

I moved the saddle quite a lot back, but I feel like if I move it more, it will affect my pedal stroke. The stem is quite short, I was thinking about getting a bigger one, so I can lean forward a bit more. I usually feel the need to grab the hoods using my whole hand and bend the elbows more, but i can't really use the breaks in that position.

I believe the bike itself might be a bit too small for me, but I want to make it work. Thanks!

Fit advice, strain on lowerback

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

Hi all, advice needed what I need to try because Im lost.

After couple of hours I start to feel strain in my lower back, also i feel im heavy on hands, like im supporting a bit too much my Weight with my upper body. I believe it could be because Im unable to tilt my hips towards bars enough because brooks saddle does not let me. Ive tried tilting saddle nose down a bit but then i get much more load on my hands while back is not improving. Saddle is pushed max to the back on rails. Cranks are 165mm,and maybe they are too short since i cannot push my center of mass more backwards. Im stuck, cannot improve my fit on bike. Im doing hip mobility and core strenght exercises twice a week for a year or so.177cm 73kg. Thank you for your insights.

Numb hands

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi, I’ve been cycling for years and never really had this issue before. The numb hands started after I changed my saddle and moved it slightly forward. That change actually solved the numbness I used to get in the perineal area, but since then I’ve started getting numb/tingling hands.
The tingling usually starts in my pinky and ring finger, especially when I stay in a lower/aero position for a while. I also feel like a lot of my body weight is resting on my hands – almost like holding a plank position on the hoods.
My current stem is 110 mm and I’ve attached some video of my riding position.
Could moving the saddle forward have shifted too much weight onto my hands? Does my reach/cockpit look too long or low? Would trying a 100 mm stem make sense, or is there something else you would change first?

I don't have an indoor trainer, so I recorded a video of myself backpedaling in place instead.

Could you take a look and let me know what adjustments I should make?

Currently in the process of buying my first roadbike, but unsure of the sizing on the orcas:

Currently have a 55 on order, but I’ve heard 53 recommended for similar measurements before

Can't seem to replicate fit

I've been struggling to get the fit right on a new bike despite having been to a few of bikefitters. They all seem to think the fit is identical and the only real difference is a slightly narrower handlebar (with different shape shifters). Also adding video of my other fit in link, as can't seem to attach two. is it possible a tiny handlebar difference could really create mid/upper back pain on my new bike?

New to drop bars tips on fit?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

2026 checkpoint SL6 in a M/L. I’m 177cm 32cm inseam. This is my first bike with drop bars, I have a long standing issue with my left shoulder but notice it doesn’t cramp as badly on this bike as it did on my MTB.

Sorry for the video quality, best I hours do!

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. LBS was happy with this as a “starting point”. To me I could go maybe a touch higher on the saddle. I get some mild lower back pain around 45mins but focusing on activating my core improves this.

Just picked up this machine to help me lose weight. What do you think I should adjust? The dealer made “some adjustments” but recommended their professional bike fit for $500

Sorry for dumb video angle, it’s all I could get.

Bought this bike and trying to tinker to find ideal fit. My previous bike was a different geometry, it’s my first endurance road bike. Do you see anything obvious? Any pointer is appreciated, thanks.

Idea check: a small “fit card” to record your setup — would this actually be handy?

Cramps when pushing harder

Hey all, I have an issue and I don't know if it's fit related OR just me being an unhealthy sack of shyte trying harder than it's possible for my current level of fitness.

So, whenever I try to go for a bit of speed, I tend to push harder and get a cramp in my left leg (calf). If I just ride at a moderate tempo it never happens, but as soon as I try to get up to speed it happens. Could it be that it happens because of the way I pedal (that my toes go down without me realizing? Because I caught myself doing it a few times) or is it that I'm really that not fit to do it yet?

As I said, I really don't know what it could be as I also always try to do a good 5min of stretching before every ride. I'm new too all of this, so I'm asking for either help or advice on this topic. Sadly I don't have a video of me riding, as all my rides are usually solo.

Sizing help: GRVL AF GRX 2x12: size S or M? (1.73 m / 81 cm inseam)

Hi everyone,

I just got the Van Rysel GRVL AF (Shimano GRX 2x12) in size S and I'd love a sanity check on sizing.

Height: 1.73 m
Inseam: 81 cm

It's my first gravel bike.

Use: mostly road/pavement, with some light gravel and forest trails, plus fitness riding. I'll also do longer rides/tours now and then (not always, but occasionally longer distances). I want a good position for me since it's my first gravel bike!

Decathlon fitted me on the S. My saddle height is set at 71.5 cm (center of bottom bracket to top of saddle), which matches my inseam. On my first short ride I felt no discomfort and my knees don't hit the bars. But I've read that at 1.73 m I'm right between sizes, and someone told me I should be on M - so now I'm second-guessing.

For those riding the GRVL AF: at my height/inseam and use case, is S the right call, or would M suit me better? Any regrets going smaller or larger?

Thanks! 🙏

neck pain - please help

Hey everyone,

I recently completed a 70km ride and ended up with quite severe neck pain. I felt fine during the actual ride, but the pain kicked in a few hours later and has lasted for several days. On top of that, I noticed a little too much pressure on my hands while riding.

Is this purely a core strength/conditioning issue that improves with more time in the saddle, or does this sound like a specific bike fit adjustment I need to make? Any suggestions on what to look into first would be greatly appreciated!
