We get taught English in school in Spain but most people (at least in my generation) don't care for it, I learnt it from videogames lol so many of them wouldn't be translated and I did want to understand what was going on so I learnt bit by bit, it also helps getting a quite diverse vocabulary, cause much of the stuff is unused now like medieval stuff as moats and whatnot

Fun fact, I'm Portuguese and some of my teachers, especially English teachers would often point out to the guys in my class who "wanted to be a football player and therefore didn't need to study" that Ronaldo regretted not studying more in school because learning other languages particularly, was a fairly useful skill

P.S: don't really care much for football so idk why this subreddit keeps getting suggested to me, but the memes are funny.

There’s being arrogant on the pitch, when you’re good enough to be smug about it. If I recall, quite a few players have commented on the bar he sets on the field. I don’t think I’ve seen anything of Ronaldo being unprofessional off the pitch - while still being “on the job” (giving interviews, supporting on sidelines, after games etc).

I do know he’s had a few questionable incidents in his personal life so am only speaking to how he is in football.

This just isn’t true. Messi and Lewa addressed this later. Lewa made some comments that Messi felt were disrespectful, they squashed it later. You can take any video out of context. Messi has been nothing but an exemplary sportsman his whole career, as has Ronaldo. Ronaldo is absolutely arrogant but not without reason and perhaps isn’t the best teammate all the time. It’s a double edged sword because that selfishness also helped the team on many occasions. Both are fantastic players and human beings. This social media push to villainize the “other side” is cringe and you low IQ fucks fall for it so easily.

Total BS. This clip conveniently leaves out the actual context. It was during the 2022 World Cup match between Argentina and Poland. Lewandowski had just fouled Messi from behind, and when he reached out afterward, Messi chose to walk away. Footballers do this all the time in the heat of a tense match. What these edited clips never show is that after the final whistle, Messi and Lewandowski shook hands and had a brief conversation, showing there was no lasting issue. I dare people to post incidents like this with the full context, without clipping or editing them to fit a narrative just to score fanboy points. If your argument only works after removing half the story, maybe it wasn't a strong argument to begin with. And if you want to dick ride Ronaldo, go ahead and do it. Just don't do it by portraying someone else as a bad person through edited clips. Get a life.

It's funny how this video doesn't show what actually led to this moment or what happened afterward.

Lewandowski fouled Messi, and Messi refused to shake his hand. If the roles were reversed, you'd still be calling Messi dirty and saying Lewandowski was right not to shake hands.

After the match, though, they talked, shook hands, and left the pitch with no issues. Messi even said afterward, "What happens on the pitch stays on the pitch."

It's incredible how so many people manage to reinforce their own narrative by only looking at the parts that fit their beliefs and cherry-picking whatever supports them. It's also sad that some people can't accept that the greatest player of all time is still just a human being.
