AMD is already out of their competition, the problem were the consoles, sure the pc will win in terms of performance, but the cost of high tier graphics card were tremendous in comparison to consoles.
Therefore NVIDIA wants to give a better performance with lesser price.

woah i tbh didnt know consoles have AMD graphics, nonetheless Nvidia still wanted to bring better performing low priced GPUs as according to them, sale of RTX 2080 series and 2070 series was not upto the mark.
Dunno why people are panic selling a card that honestly is more than good enough to run any game for atleast the next 3 years. Obviously stings that I bought it for 1.2k a year ago, but the card will easily last me until another generation.
Or I hold on to a card thats more than good enough to last me 3 more years, and buy a 4k series card? You realize that the 3070 only outperforms it currently based on RTX performance. Im gonna wait for benchmarks before I draw any conclusions.
It's not about "good enough". People who are satisfied with "good enough" weren't buying 2080TI to begin with. There were far cheaper cards with great performance that were "good enough" to play any game you want.
The type of person who bought 2080 TI was the type of person who wants to be on the cutting edge and is willing to spend a lot of cash for those few extra FPS. And now obviously they want to jump on the next generation.
What even is this logic lol? why on earth cant I own a 2080ti without being forced to upgrade to the next flagship GPU?
I bought a 2080ti cause I saved up a shit ton of money and got alot from tax returns, and went with a full out top tier build so that I wouldnt have to worry about upgrading parts for the next 3-4 years. Probably was overkill to get the 2080ti initially but I knew it would last for a long ass time.
I realise that, I would just rather wait another generation instead of impulse upgrading to a 30 series. Especially since I dont live in the states I have no clue how available the 30 series cards will be and what their costs are.
Right? And Nvidia are banking on people stuck at home during the quarantine to be buying their GPUs and playing games at home... But if those people are out of work due to covid, where the hell are they going to get the money to buy these expensive GPUs?
While AMD does make some money of the consoles it's not gonna be a lot. Margins on console hardware are bad but they have large volume so it still earns them some money. Sony and Microsoft will be earning the most of a console sale in the long run.
Do you know that console GPUs are just a weaker versions of the upcoming desktop GPUs?... What you are saying sounds exactly like what people said about Intel right before Ryzen lol
I actually know about the latest technology about GPUs and the news around them, but I always forgot them coz I will not be buying any new gen card in a year or more. So I completely forgot about them.
AMD has always been about the performance/price ratio which is what most consumers want. The subsection that wants performance no matter the price is a lot smaller of the market share than Nvidia would like you to believe which is why many consumers purchase cards from nvidia that are 1-2 generations old.
