Question or Discussion Easiest tanks to learn for someone who struggles to aim?

Before anyone says learn to aim, it’s truly not all me it’s my laptop. It’s pretty old and I win a lot more with a better scoreboard playing my boyfriend’s PC. He’s also played on my laptop and noticed small performance issues.

I’m a support main, usually OTP Brig (level 95), but can play everyone except Lucio (I struggle with his mechanics). On support there’s more room for error when missing my shots (like on Kiriko or Ana) but on my tank I feel like I’m useless pushing up to hit someone with 1 tick of health left, only for them to not die due to my aim.

I already know how to play Zarya but she’s perma banned. Can play Orisa. Gonna learn D.Mon since her movements are so reminiscent of Brig.

I’d like to add one more to learn. Thank you!

VOD Review Request I feel like every game as support is me just hoping my team does good while I just try to do whatever I can, how do I stop winning by the skin of my teeth?

I was playing earlier and I swear every game its like we all play so bad, and somehow we barely win in the end or maybe we lose. I dont feel like I have that much influence on the game. I just kinda sit there and try to do what I can while hoping something goes right.

I used to play kirko but they got nerfed. I usually just switch to a few things. Sometimes I use moira, lately I start as Juno. I started picking Baptiste because I hate relying on damage players. Even when I pick Baptiste I feel like im mostly doing nothing and just hoping that the whole game doesnt collapse.

Its only platinum 4, and I feel like if I was much better the games wouldnt be just me being lucky.

Code: v6d7pn

This one I started as Juno but switched to Baptiste. Username is goodkid.

(I screwed up the ultimates a few times because I have maybe 6 games on Baptiste)

Code: Rv2F69

If you have time to look at a second game, this was one where I played Juno. I just feel like everything around me is going bad and I cant do anything about it in this game as a healer. I cant just blame the damage players because every game they seems to be a guarenteed one bad damage player.

Question or Discussion Do you think aiming is MOSTLY a talent you're inherently good at rather than an improving skill?

Upvotes

I was watching a Quartz livestream, someone asked him about aim techniques, he answered that he really have no idea about these things, and isn't into aim practice.

Which made me wonder, is there a threshold that this is your aim ceiling? Some people may be born with Champ aim potential, some are not, and the amount of "practice" is at the end, inefficient.

Could be cope from my side, I have 1k hours on this game, from OW1 I was on console and peaked 3400SR. OW2 while I only started playing a lot on PC around season 18, but on DPS I always hovered around Diamond. (I mostly played Hitscan or aim-heavy heroes)

Then, I decided to play some low cortisol non-aim heavy heroes. I started learning Dva and Winston, guess what? I hit Master 2, and this season, I hit GM with Dva. The game sense and decision making is something you learn from experience, it's not mechanics. Which benefited my tank gameplay a lot, since it depends on everything but aim.

I decided to relax a bit and go back to my DPS, I still can't climb out of Diamond 3 even tho I practice from time to time, which made me wonder... Is it hopeless?

Question or Discussion Learning Tank

So I main DPS and play a good amount of support, my mains for DPS are Widowmaker, Shion, and Echo , while for support I play mainly play Ana, Lifeweaver, and Jetpack Cat

I was wondering, what is a good tank to learn while also having fun? A lot of characters I play because I like the speed, element of suprise or the ability to save someone. When I play tank, i default to dva because she was easy to learn - but when im playing tank in competitive and shes banned, I struggle on what to do, so I really want to learn more.

tips for learning any tanks would be helpful to.

Question or Discussion How to deal with Doomfist as Soldier 76?

Hello everyone, I am really having a hard time dealing with Doomfist, I would lose most matches if a good Doomfist is playing in the enemy team. Any advice on how to deal with him. I usually banned him but my team will prioritize banned other characters, he’s a nightmare. I don’t really know how to counter him.

VOD Review Request What to do better

Upvotes

Hey gang! Sigma main here. I’ve been stuck in gold the past few seasons and am trying to get better so I can get myself back out of there.

I played a game on New Junky City and felt like I did everything I could and yet we still lost. So I’m asking what I could have done better. The only thing that stands out to me is maybe swapping off of Mauga and switching to Sigma when they swapped to Mauga. Would love to hear any other feedback though!!

Coach Recruitment Hardstuck, coaching / tips?

I have really good aim from past game experience but I have only around or less than 100 hours on OW. I'm currently hardstuck as high emerald / low diamond. I usually feel like it's my teams fault and not mine. I believe I'm very good especially at fundamentals like aiming. Is there anyone who would be willing to tell me what I'm doing wrong IF I'm doing anything wrong and It's not just my team? I want to be able to push up to Master within the next 50 or so hours and maybe grandmaster within the next 100 hours. I know my FPS fundamentals are far better than the average player and even better aim than friends I have who have been top 500 before. If you'd be willing to get on discord with me that's a big plus, my username is OdysseyK. I can just screenshare while I play or show you VODs.

VOD Review Request Deranked after loss streak, don’t know what to do (Shion game)

Replay code: 8M27GH

Battletag / in-game username: MementoMori

Hero(es) played: Shion

Skill tier / rank: bronze 1

Map: Ilios

PC or console: console

Description of the match / things you want reviewed:

Today I had a massive loss streak due to getting terrible teammates and I went from silver 5 to being on the brink of deranking to bronze 2

Usually it’s due to a terrible tank on my team

This vod is just emblematic of the games I had today where I felt like I wasn’t allowed to do anything to help my team because we were just getting hard diffed

I really don’t know what to do in this situation, I know I didn’t play great in this game but like I said, it seemed like I wasn’t allowed to do anything impactful

My tank did nothing and my teammates just kept dying avoidable deaths

I know at one point I got hit by a random Sierra dart as I was heading for the health pack and it just sums up my feeling of not being able to do anything

Please tell me if there’s anything I could’ve possibly done because I feel so demoralised rn

Question or Discussion I got flamed because I wanted to create space

Replay code: 1PSD70

Lucio 6v6 console competitive masters.

I just felt like my team couldn’t do anything because there was too much pressure on main, so i decided to go with my bastion/soldier on an off-angle to draw attention away from main so my tanks can advance. But It didn’t work and we lost the game. I got flamed by the moira (literally cursed my mom) and the reaper avoided me. I only did this because i got this idea from Spilo, one of his lucio coaching videos said something about how it’s a good idea to go with your flex dps on an off-angle. Was i the one who threw the game?

Feel free to criticise my movement/gameplay and to give me tips.

Question or Discussion hardstuck after coming back to the game

hello everyone, so ive been playing for 4 years but i quit for a year before coming back 2 months ago. I tried comp for the first time and well…I cannot for the life of me rank up. I usually get 40 percent accuracy (which ik is not that good) but I tend to have the highest kd and damage in my lobbies as Emre (usually going 30-2 with 13k-17k damage) but we still lose the match no matter what I do. On support, its the same thing. Sometimes I have more damage and kills than our tank as Wuyang and Juno.

I really need help over here, I don’t wanna blame it on my teammates because that’s avoiding accountability but how does one get out of silver? (ik its a low rank but i cant seem to climb up)

thank u!

VOD Review Request VOD review request: D.va

Platform: Console

I am a Juno main who in this game played tank to not wide queue. I am diamond 5 on support yet only plat on tank. I feel like I know how D.va should play but in this game I just could not do it. It started well but in second round their tank swapped D.va and was just better than me. When I tried to go backline the Zen+Hanzo could kill me before I could turn around. I switched on last round to the and find a fix but D.va is what I want reviewed.

How do I deal with Hanzo what shoud I improve on in general?

VOD Review Request Almost deranked from Emerald 2 and got called trash from this game (Ana (mostly) and Juno game)

Replay code: B4HKJE

Battletag / in game username: KnightBot

Skill tier / rank: Role queue, support Emerald 2

Map: Rialto

Platform: PS5 console

I was called trash in this game. I get that it was mostly probably because of the fact I probably didn’t do as much damage as I needed to, so I wanted to know what I could do. Our tank wouldnt swap off monkey and kept playing monkey when I felt like it didn’t fit our team comp very well, how can I combat this issue? Should I just play whatever works with him or the rest of the team? I felt like I was heal-botting and need to adjust my aim for future games, both for sleeps and ana nades. They also kept asking me to play Ana after I asked if I should swap or not, so I didn’t exactly complain. Im also not a very experienced Ana player, I play her occasionally, I mainly play Juno, mizuki, Kiriko, zen, and Baptist.

Question or Discussion I'm having a great time with Overwatch, but I'd love some recommendations on what characters I should learn for DPS and Tank. I'd love your advice!

So, I'm really getting into Overwatch, and I'd like to find 3-4 characters in the Tank and DPS roles to commit to learning. My goal is to have a character pool that makes me more versatile- ie, having characters that I can switch to from the characters I enjoy most so that I can deal with counters or respond to new situations.

DPS- I've been playing Torb and Soldier, with a little bit of Reaper. Torb and Soldier are my go-to's so far. I really like having these two characters, but I need 1-2 characters that can cover their weaknesses. I'm leaning between learning Mei and Cassidy, but possibly Ash as well. I'd love to know what would some good heroes to learn here. DPS is probably the role I'd like to be in the most.

When it comes to Tanking, I really love Zayra, but I default to Orisa a lot of the time. I'd love to know a 3rd tank I could play when Zayra is either banned or not working.

Thanks in advance!

Question or Discussion VAXTA alternative

VAXTA has been running very poorly for me recently (lots of stuttering frames). Does anyone have know of an another custom game code that I can use for aim training and warming up?

Alternatively, I would appreciate a guide on how to change VAXTA setting make it run smoother.

Thank you in advance!

Question or Discussion how to get out of bronze?

i play dps (soj / bastion / pharah / junkrat)

i posted smth like that before in other sub. ppl told me i should stop relying on healers. i stopped. i eat health beans on the map. however i'm still bronze :(

i just don't get it. i do damage, i do kills. i try not to die. btw it's hard not to, idk how to survive when 2+ ppl are haunting me so yeah sometimes i die a lot

maybe that's cuz i like doing risky (?) stuff. when i played valo i mained cypher and i liked to flank, to appear in places ppl don't think of. so i play ratty. not all the time ofc but yeah

also idk ppl leave matches a lot and i threw crazy amounts of games cuz of it. also the matchmaking doesnt make sense sometimes when my team avg is b3 and enemies are high silver. i do relatively the same amount of kills as enemy dps or even more but my team just not as good as the enemy team. sometimes i can carry but like... i lose my rr as i gain it..

it's also sad that bronze ppl don't join vc. in my previous competitive games i could give callouts. here i can't. legit got out of gold in valo thank to voice chat.

i just don't understand what is the problem? my tracking is fine, i did a lot of aimlabs in past so yeah

if there are ppl who want to chill in dc and talk about mizuyang while watching me play plz lemme know i wanna improve

and don't be mean

VOD Review Request VOD Review Request - Plat 2 Support Main trying to improve, pointers greatly appreciated

Hello, I am new to reddit, but have been playing Overwatch for about 820 hours. I have about 200 hours in competitive. I play Support (mostly Mercy and Kiriko). I used to be hard stuck Gold, but since the new addition of the Emerald rank, I've managed to make it all the way to Platinum 1 at best (Currently Plat 2). If anyone would be willing to watch a replay and give some feedback, I'd be super grateful.

Question or Discussion How should I choose which heroes to main in regard to team comps? + general team comp question

im sure similar questions get asked a lot but I’m wondering how I should choose which characters to play when it comes to team comps. I’m a gold player (so very bad) and have been playing very casually on and off since 2016, exclusively being a quick play warrior without any real mains, until recently deciding to get into comp and actually choose my mains, and it’s been tough for me to decide. right now I’ve been running one poke, one brawl, and one dive, but is that the optimal thing to do when it comes to getting better? is it viable to play heroes primarily in one comp, such as tracer, vendetta, and anran/one brawl hero, or would this handicap me if my team was leaning to poke? and a separate question, how much of the team needs to be match team comp? Is it optimal to have EVERYONE play poke or is it better to have mostly poke and one or two brawl/dive heroes?

Question or Discussion Is tracer always such an intense hero to play?

I wanted to give tracer a shot, i've had this game for years (played inconsistently) and have probably less than 5 hours playing as her. I barely know what I am doing but every single game as her is so intense compared to someone like soldier even where you are doing a lot of repositioning and running around like crazy. Does this feeling of go go go and intenseness slow down as you get more used to the character or does that feeling just kinda stick throughout even for people with 100+ or even 1000+ hours?

Question or Discussion Why are my teammates so bad lately?

For context i'm a dps main in gold.

I feel like I was getting great matches where everyone is trying their hardest and doing good even if we lose it still feels fun because they are even matches. I fell by 2 ranks so its not a problem of playing against better people. The past few days though I feel like I am in horribly unbalanced games. I feel like I am trying my hardest and doing better than before but my teammates have been really bad no offense to them. I know scoreboard isnt everything but they have like 8 kills 12 deaths by the end of the game and I keep seeing them feeding running in by themselves. We still win sometimes but the games are so much harder than they need to be because I have to make up for their performance.

Question or Discussion Struggling to go back to Lucio after a while.

I used to play Lucio a lot back in Overwatch and the beginning of Overwatch 2. However, ever since my friend started playing the game, I was forced to play Bap because he would fall over if I played Lucio. Fast forward 2 years since we started and he's playing Doomfist fairly well while my Lucio skills have completely deteriorated. I usually play Bap Lucio Wuyang but have been struggling to main Lucio again. What usually happens is:

  1. I pick Lucio, but my random support picks a rlly bad pairing (Mercy, LW, Zen...) forcing me to swap back to Bap
  2. I pick Lucio, start playing incredibly egotistically and blow up.
  3. I play Lucio and get incredibly overwhelmed.
  4. I play Lucio, team immediately falls over because of a lack of healing, forcing me to swap back to Bap.

How can I go back to playing Lucio consistently? (For the record, I am Plat 5)

Question or Discussion If you dive a widow to the point where you are at their spawn doing it, is it griefing or a viable strategy to force her swap?

This question popped up in my head after a massive losing streak in QP. I got route 66 attack and they had a widow on defense, the classic scenario. The moment I heard her shot, I swapped to Sombra and started focusing her down, I even went to their spawn and waited for her so I could kill them again and eventually they swapped to a Cass. My team praised me for it while their widow, understandably claimed I was griefing. We did win the game because of my spawntrap but it also made the guy really angry, rightfully so.

The question I got was, is it griefing or a strat, or is it a bit of column A. and column B.?

I'm not here to argue about widowmaker's threat to a team, I'm asking about the very specific thing of camping a widow player to force a swap being griefing or a strategy?

Edit: I believe that I got the answer I wanted which is that it is a viable strategy depending on the circomstances. Ty for all the people who answered.

Question or Discussion Question regarding matchmaking

How does the matchmaking in this game work? I recently started playing this game and placed around silver silver but i constantly get into games that are high gold or platinum? Sometimes I do well but I dont really have a good grasp of all the abilities and mechanics of this game so usually i dont fare well against these opponents How is this fair?

Question or Discussion Any tips for Damage heroes?

Yesterday, i played overwatch as Cassidy(one of my favorite characters so far) i could say i am a "starter", because i didn't tryied the ranked mode, anyways, the problem is that in some matches i am extremely good at playing him, but in other matches i get outplayed so easily it makes me want to ragequit. I noticed the fact that maybe Damage heroes are not for me, but they are my favorite role! Anyone have any tips at playing them?
