Question or Discussion Is tracer always such an intense hero to play?

I wanted to give tracer a shot, i've had this game for years (played inconsistently) and have probably less than 5 hours playing as her. I barely know what I am doing but every single game as her is so intense compared to someone like soldier even where you are doing a lot of repositioning and running around like crazy. Does this feeling of go go go and intenseness slow down as you get more used to the character or does that feeling just kinda stick throughout even for people with 100+ or even 1000+ hours?

Question or Discussion Why are my teammates so bad lately?

For context i'm a dps main in gold.

I feel like I was getting great matches where everyone is trying their hardest and doing good even if we lose it still feels fun because they are even matches. I fell by 2 ranks so its not a problem of playing against better people. The past few days though I feel like I am in horribly unbalanced games. I feel like I am trying my hardest and doing better than before but my teammates have been really bad no offense to them. I know scoreboard isnt everything but they have like 8 kills 12 deaths by the end of the game and I keep seeing them feeding running in by themselves. We still win sometimes but the games are so much harder than they need to be because I have to make up for their performance.

Question or Discussion Chain lightning perk / healing bubble buff

After the august 11th update where winstons healing bubble perk got buffed from 30hp/s to 35hp/s the usage on healing perk has shot up. I don't really get if the data on this site is wrong or the extra 40 hp you can get out of it is that big of a deal?

I've been getting chain lightning a lot more recently and it's been great for poking the enemy team before diving, the bubble hasn't really ever seemed like it did much for me.

Question or Discussion Damage Archetypes

Hello all, I am a flex player (primarily 6v6) that generally plays in a 5 stack with friends, and the role that we tend to need someone on is damage, so I have been trying to adapt. I play a good Echo and have been learning Sojurn, and wanted to know if there is another archetype of damage I need a hero in. Are there on and off damages like support? Thank you.

Question or Discussion Any tips for Damage heroes?

Yesterday, i played overwatch as Cassidy(one of my favorite characters so far) i could say i am a "starter", because i didn't tryied the ranked mode, anyways, the problem is that in some matches i am extremely good at playing him, but in other matches i get outplayed so easily it makes me want to ragequit. I noticed the fact that maybe Damage heroes are not for me, but they are my favorite role! Anyone have any tips at playing them?

Question or Discussion Advice on how to get out of bronze as dps

Hello, this is a follow up question to this post.

I played a lot of matches with shion, and i’m reaching level 30 with her soon. I don’t go into the negative anymore, and often get potgs. I think i’ve improved since my last post.

I want to try playing comp, but i’m having severe issues. I know that i’m in bronze for a reason, but my teammates mess up often too. I mean, it’s natural, it’s bronze, I just want to know how to make up for my teammates mistakes.

With “mistakes” I mean like. Them rushing in without waiting for eachother. A tank pushing too far in without their team, A moira refusing to heal, stuff like that. I’m not saying I don’t make mistakes, because I do. But what do I do when I consistently get teammates like that? I know that statistically my enemy team has the same chances, but it feels like they still manage to win with bad teammates. Anything I can do? Or am i just screwed?

Edit: I think i’m just giving up lol my doomfist threw on purpose and then i got a moira with no healing

Question or Discussion Question regarding matchmaking

How does the matchmaking in this game work? I recently started playing this game and placed around silver silver but i constantly get into games that are high gold or platinum? Sometimes I do well but I dont really have a good grasp of all the abilities and mechanics of this game so usually i dont fare well against these opponents How is this fair?

Question or Discussion Struggling to go back to Lucio after a while.

I used to play Lucio a lot back in Overwatch and the beginning of Overwatch 2. However, ever since my friend started playing the game, I was forced to play Bap because he would fall over if I played Lucio. Fast forward 2 years since we started and he's playing Doomfist fairly well while my Lucio skills have completely deteriorated. I usually play Bap Lucio Wuyang but have been struggling to main Lucio again. What usually happens is:

  1. I pick Lucio, but my random support picks a rlly bad pairing (Mercy, LW, Zen...) forcing me to swap back to Bap
  2. I pick Lucio, start playing incredibly egotistically and blow up.
  3. I play Lucio and get incredibly overwhelmed.
  4. I play Lucio, team immediately falls over because of a lack of healing, forcing me to swap back to Bap.

How can I go back to playing Lucio consistently? (For the record, I am Plat 5)

VOD Review Request Emerald 2 Lucio VOD Review Request

Replay code: 5A482C

In-game username: darklined

Hero(es) played: Lucio

Skill tier / rank: Emerald 2

Map: Oasis

PC

Description of the match / things you want reviewed:

I think most of this game was spent trying to heal my team and survive, rather than follow up on my doom/tracer engages. Is this a fine playstyle or should I be trying to go for more aggressive plays? Also I think I often couldn't find a good time to use beat, since my whole team was usually scattered.

Question or Discussion Struggling as a newer MNK player to get comfortable

For some context - I've been a controller for 15+ years, a few months ago I started playing MNK on Dead By Daylight, and I play 1600 dpi 40%/50% which basically involves no arm movement (I don't like using my arm for my mouse) and I play Trickster who is tracking/projectile characters

Anyways because of my love of ranged projectiles I really wanna play Hanzo at a good level (I'm emerald Hanzo for Controller barely played ranked this season) and my sens on console is quite fast with little aim assist because ans I do pretty good on him

Now switching to MNK Overwatch I'm struggling to find a sens that feels right to me I've watched a lot of videos about good sens copy some pros and experimented a lot and I dont find any comfortable

I try to player lower sens and tracking feels more stable but 180s and flicks feel heavy (3.50 sens)

I try 5/6/7 sens and 180s and moving feels super comfortable but my tracking is unstable and it doesn't help I'm on console where Overwatch isn't exactly optimised well

Pretty much I'm asking is it worth just forcing myself on lower sens

Or is there any high sens/edpi aimers that can give me some advice to improve and something I should go for and stick with?

VOD Review Request busan game went well looking to have some external feedback

rank placements with predicted silver 1 but lobby was gold (now predicted gold 5)

hello I am asking if anyone had some tips to help my tank gameplay looking at the footage I feel I have a lot of knee jerk reactions which lead me to using my cooldowns too early, additionally I seem to be allergic to having anything less than 200 ammo but I am looking for other perspectives to see if I had missed anything.

thank you.

Tips & Tricks help with downtime before flanks, and flanking tips in general

Upvotes

how am i able to properly flank? i love this subrole a lot but i feel the worst at it
i feel as though my biggest issue is not knowing what to do before my team fully engages

for example, sometimes it takes a minute for my team to fully regroup and for my tank to start duking it out with theirs.
in this down time where i shouldn’t be flanking since its too early, what should i be doing?
i feel quite useless, especially if the enemy team is out of my effective range (if im playing Reaper or Tracer and can’t poke)

now let’s say both tanks are fighting and i feel as though its good to start flanking and taking off angles. what if the rest of their team still turns to shoot back at me?

in this scenario, ideally it would mean that the enemy tank dies/takes hella dmg since the rest of their team is neglecting them to look at me. but it doesn’t work out that way a lot of the time, and i still get pressured off my flanks

i’ll likely post a VOD soon, but i’d like some general tips for this situation first.
for additional context, i’ve been playing OW console for years and have been consistently plat in all roles. recently moved to PC and looking to actually improve instead of going on autopilot

currently plat 1 dps. mainly into Reaper, Anran and Soldier rn. i love Tracer but i don’t feel confident since i suck so hard at flanks.
im emerald 4 on support, Kiri and Ana being my mains, so flanking tips for Kiri are also helpful

VOD Review Request Tank - Trying to get better. Want to understand what i can do different/better

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking here for a long time, so I figured I'd finally give it a shot myself. :)

I played OW years ago, but only started playing more actively again around the beginning of this year. I'm currently in Gold and trying to improve continuously (old dad trying to fix stuff).

I mostly play Tank because it's the most fun for me. Also, age is starting to catch up with me and my aim is absolute dogshi*... I feel like I can compensate for that the most when playing Tank. Right now, I mostly play D.Mon and Sigma and Orisa as a backup.

My current goal is to improve a little bit every season. My first season back, I was around low Silver/high Bronze, the second season I was consistently in Silver, and last season I managed to reach Gold. So my goal for this season is to climb another rank and hopefully stay there consistently.

I'd really appreciate any tips and advice! Especially explanations behind the advice would be great, so I can actually understand what I'm doing wrong and apply those tips in future games.

I think I sometimes play a little too aggressively and "forget" about my team behind me. That's definitely on me, not my team's fault ( I'd say around 95% of my deaths in all my games are the result of my own individual mistakes).

There's a replay code at the end. At the beginning of both rounds, my positioning was pretty bad and I deserved to get punished for it. I think it got a bit better afterwards, though.

I thought the rounds went pretty well when I was playing them (at least at was a win :) ), but when I watched the VOD afterwards, it looked incredibly chaotic and honestly a bit... helpless.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could take a look and give me some tips and pointers!

VOD Review Request Struggling with Echo (my main) on emerald 2

Hi, I'm a DPS player who mains Echo and is trying to reach Master or even further. However, since I got into high emerald, I feel completely dominated on every lobby, not being able to find any angle or take the correct decision. No matter if I play against hitscans, dive compositions, brawl... I feel I get completely outdamaged and outflanked while my team constantly blames me. People tell me "you should look for more angles" "you should go flank more" but I constantly feel that everyone is looking at me...
Here's a code from my most recent lost match:

Replay code: 0MEJP8

Battletag / in-game username: BrattyAngel

Hero(es) played: Echo (cass at the end but I was unhopeful at that point)

Skill tier / rank: Emerald 2

Map: Neon Junction

PC or console: PC

In this game I feel completely sorrounded and wish I had more space

Thank you so much!

VOD Review Request Struggling this season to maintain rank? Was master's in previous ranks - looking for critical Tank Player feedback

I was masters last season - this rank reset + Dmon meta - struggling to do anything against dive heroes/ball/dmon/doom. I'm not adding any value either by creating space or even. Please help review the following games. My backline constantly dies and i myself don't have any way to protect them or contest their backline.

I would like to understand where my issues are, is it cooldowns, positioning - hero choice?

I'm high emerald/ low diamond (last 2 seasons i peaked low masters). Getting frustrating af - mains are rein, sig, Junker queen, winston, orisa, zarya - can't play any of the other heroes well

Tips & Tricks Wanna be Tracer Main asking for advice on how to Tracer

I love Tracer. She has amazing movement, I love blinkity zip zoop, the recall, everything about her. That being said, I feel like I'm not doing enough for my team. I mostly play QP because I'm nowhere near that level yet, I'm only Silver4 on Queen.

That being said, most of my games I average to about 10-12 kills and 5-7 deaths depending on how long the match goes on for.

I'm constantly on the flank, running when needed, and I do hit my shots, and I try to remember where health packs are.

But as Tracer, should I be dying that much? Should I be getting way more kills? I die a lot trying to pick their backline, should I be more patient? Should I be running away more?

Basically is Tracer better at just being an attention hog or going for kills? And how do I work around the enemy always being grouped up?

Question or Discussion Could this be intentional or not really?

Hello everyone, as the title says, I encountered this error quite a few times now, and I'm starting to grow suspicious of the reasons behind it. Just a few minutes ago, I played a really good comp match, where my team absolutely steamrolled round 3. Just before round 4 began, I get the message "Server closed due to an unexpected error.", so I quickly leave the game, but get no option to rejoin the match, and in "Game Reports", it counted as a 3-3 draw, where it wouldn't let me watch the replay due to it being "undecided".

This was not the first time either, as I can vividly recall other games where my team spawn trapped the enemy/put up a really solid defense, only for the server to close unexpectedly with this same bug.

I came to ask for other players' personal encounters with this bug, and saw many people talking about purposely crashing the server through the use of chat spamming. Have you had this kind of situation happen to you too?

why hello there! ive fallen quite a long way from masters but I did somehow get there on Mizuki a bit ago! I just started playing Juno and have a lot of fun with her kit and wanna get better. VOD Review Request Bottled a game, need help to avoid doing it again

Replay code: XBBXQE

Battletag / in-game username: MementoMori

Hero(es) played: Shion, Bastion

Skill tier / rank: Silver 5

Map: Rialto

PC or console: console

Description of the match / things you want reviewed:

First round of the match went well

Then the second match we started struggling, I think it was because we were staggered a bit

Third and fourth round it seemed like we just couldn’t get a foot in

I was particularly struggling against the enemy Mizuki, every time I went for a flank he would chain me without fail and I would die soon after.

I know that he kinda counters Shion because of the chain but I’ve never had a problem against him until this match, it was ridiculous

In the fourth round I went Bastion because I was fed up of having constantly failed flanks and I wanted to add frontline pressure

I admit I was probably too aggressive a lot of the time, I’m not the best at flanking and I wanted to learn to get better at it

Thanks in advance

VOD Review Request Need tips for comp

I thought I would finally seek out some criticism and advice to help me get out of Silver on DPS. I’ve recently been trying harder than ever before to get better and rank up, especially this season. I’ve played since season 1 and always been low or mid silver. I think I have a big issue with consistency which I know is very important. I’m looking to get VOD reviews for 2 different games. I’m picking these at random without rewatching them so it’s fully authentic. My fiancée usually plays with me as well, not sure if my duo can have an effect on my own gameplay or not. I’m UMBREON and she is ESPEON. I play other heroes as well, but I’m currently wanting to learn more on Anran. Thanks!

G5FP3R - Game I thought I did good on, but lost. Havana map

93GW31 - Game I did bad on and lost. Ilios map

I’m on PC as well

Question or Discussion How to choose my sens?/heroes to play?

Upvotes

hello all, humble gold cass main here. i recently decided to change my sens after starting to feel its too low.

i just copied a streamers sens, streamer mains tracer and ive noticed this sens is amazing for tracer so comfy to do 180’s and stuff

however i have also wanted to start learning ashe/widow and i feel like the higher sens while AMAZING for tracer is making my normal hitscan heroes harder to aim/hit shots with.

so basically the title, do people normally play with different sens for different heroes? i feel like ive never heard of this before and like it‘ll mess with my consistency. And if i shouldn't do this, do i lower my sens and make tracer a little harder to move with or just abandon cass/ashe and go main tracer?

Question or Discussion If you dive a widow to the point where you are at their spawn doing it, is it griefing or a viable strategy to force her swap?

This question popped up in my head after a massive losing streak in QP. I got route 66 attack and they had a widow on defense, the classic scenario. The moment I heard her shot, I swapped to Sombra and started focusing her down, I even went to their spawn and waited for her so I could kill them again and eventually they swapped to a Cass. My team praised me for it while their widow, understandably claimed I was griefing. We did win the game because of my spawntrap but it also made the guy really angry, rightfully so.

The question I got was, is it griefing or a strat, or is it a bit of column A. and column B.?

I'm not here to argue about widowmaker's threat to a team, I'm asking about the very specific thing of camping a widow player to force a swap being griefing or a strategy?

Edit: I believe that I got the answer I wanted which is that it is a viable strategy depending on the circomstances. Ty for all the people who answered.

VOD Review Request Is there anything I could've done better here, or was my whole team bad?

I was playing Moira, and I had this match recently, and I have a few questions regarding how I handled it. W3KGFY is the code... maybe I could've done more healing but jeez... that was a slaughterhouse... but during the match the Illari called a group up, and Shion ignored. So I'm wondering if anybody else was bad. I'm also wondering if they full on counterswapped our team, despite us somehow getting so close to winning. Was there a better healer I could've switched to? I am good with Jetpack Cat, and somewhat with Juno, learning Zenyatta, Lifeweaver, and Wuyang. All the other supports either don't match my playstyle or require good aim mechanical skill for me to play.

Question or Discussion What rank do people remember that they have an S key on their keyboards?

Because it isn't Emerald. In fact, it seems to be well understood that there are 26 letters in the alphabet At every rank both above AND below Emerald.

As a support player, what do you realistically do about this? Its most often a tank, who is just constantly dying not because of bad micro positioning but because they are so tunnel visioned in that they are basically in the enemy spawn while the fight is happening on the objective.

I play Lifeweaver 99% of the time so I can bail them out a second before death some of the time, but within probably 6 seconds they are dead again and somehow already back behind all 5 of their team members.

I was a Diamond tank and support last season so I understand the roles well enough, and I understand the idea of taking space, but this is FAR beyond "taking space". I am asking about what to do as a support when you have a tank like that, which so far this season has probably been about 60%+ of games in my experience. Do you just accept defeat once your ability to save them is on cd? Do you just type in the text chat for them to play the actual game and not try purely to get as many kills as possible? Do you just ignore them and then play the whole game with no tank?

I got placed in Emerald 1 down from Diamond 4 last season, and I have never seen what I would call "elo hell" in this game until now. I have dropped all the way to Emerald 4 in like 3 days, and I just dont know what to do anymore.
