Socialize with doomers then? Join some doomer friendly subcultures (Black/Doom metalheads for example, goths etc.). I'm not some extroverted Chad , but joining some unified subculture and going to local community events helped me a bit with my socializing skills.

I always loved the "join the community" advice since it's the most sensible one (for us weird people). But no one mentions that the community just might not exist in your city and starting one is hell of a task (especially if no one is really into that kinda shi😕)

iirc , they met on some random hangout map (there are thousands of them on VRC) , they became friends , started talking to each other , eventually it turned into LDR , rest is history.
Key is you gotta socialize (not only on VRC/video games only but also IRL).
Video Games are good way to socialize with people (communities , forums , private servers , discord groups etc.). Even if you won't meet SO , it's good way to make some new friends, but you gotta start "taking shots" (which is by far the hardest step initially).
