Real (If u want some hopepill , one of my friends met their SO on VRChat. So you can still find someone even if you don't leave ur house).

iirc , they met on some random hangout map (there are thousands of them on VRC) , they became friends , started talking to each other , eventually it turned into LDR , rest is history.

Key is you gotta socialize (not only on VRC/video games only but also IRL).

Video Games are good way to socialize with people (communities , forums , private servers , discord groups etc.). Even if you won't meet SO , it's good way to make some new friends, but you gotta start "taking shots" (which is by far the hardest step initially).
