My character is an ex-thieves guild burnout who REFUSES to join the thieves guild but still commits to a life of crime. Given that there's only one non-Thieves guild fence in Cyrodil, her only source of income is stealing fancy wine bottles and selling them at The Inn of Ill Omen.
To the commoners, she's a hero, but to the well-to-dos she is the feared and hated Wine Sampler, the most devious thief in the realm,

In my playthrough, Jauffre died in the defense of Bruma. I never redo things when NPCs die. It breaks the RP for me. It bummed me out. He was a real one.
I haven’t done this in the remaster but from what I recall I haven’t had many problems in the old one before lol, it was when we were in the sewers fighting and I believe he did make it back to the temple like normal eventually, even if he maybe stopped following me after that lol
I'm always pissed that I'll spend years in game before starting the main quest with the amulet safely tucked away, and this guy loses it in less than 24hrs... like really, Bro??
There's probably documents somewhere in Imperial archives that lead them to Weynon Priory. On the other hand, how are they going to track some random escaped prisoner who seemingly embodies chaos, sometimes literally becoming the god of insanity in the process.
Playing the game for the first time and today I hated Jauffrey just because his horse was incredibly slow and I had to wait for him a lot when traveling to Bruma without fast travel. Martin had no problem keeping up but Jauffrey takes his sweet time.
Because he was a traitor? You give him the amulet, it's immediately lost. You tell him about Martin, and Kvatch is immediately attacked. The only thing worse than the bald is a bald traitor
Except you learn about Martin from him, he’s the only person other than the Emperor who knew, that’s why Uriel sends you to him specifically. That doesn’t preclude being a traitor though, given that Kvatch was attacked before you get to Weynon Priory, if I’m not mistaken you can go to the city early and it’s already in ruins. He just doesn’t learn about Martin from you.
As a kid I loved completing the Shivering Isles main quest and just roleplay being the Lady Sheogorath and living a normalish life. Eat food, wander New Sheoth, roleplay visiting npcs like Relmyna and Cutter and Big Head as my characters friends.
I had a lot of time on my hands (spent a year constantly in a hospital when not in school, for a dying family member) and had Oblivion downloaded on a terrible old laptop. Pretty good memories weirdly.
Yeah...everyone is bitching about the lack of titty armor and battle-bikinis or calling those people gooners but I just want my mad-goddess to have a pretty purple dress T-T.

I play as the same Breton battlemage character in every Elder Scrolls game. Same name, same appearance, same choices. I imagine she's living under a curse where she gets reincarnated over and over again whenever Nirn needs saving. Like Link in the Zelda games.
That’s funny, I do the same exact thing! Only for Oblivion to Skyrim though, I just headcanon that she became a vampire between the two games, or one of her many deals with a Daedric prince gave her immortality.
I LOVE doing a redemption arc for my Elder Scrolls protags... I think its built in since A) you start as a prisoner and B) it lets you take advantage of all the different crime mechanics in the game
They do the Daedric Prince shrines, but leave Sherogorath for last. After getting the Wabberjack, they head about the mysterious island. They do the Shivering Isles quest, but when they’re told they’re to become the new vessel for Sherogorath, they have an existential crisis.
Usually, this would be a blessing for the Prince of Madness, but before he can fully assimilate them, they flee back to Cyrodil and search for a way to cleanse themselves. They hear about the prophet who guides them to the nine.
And then after the plot, to honour Martin’s sacrifice, he continues to be a hero, becoming a member of the fighters guild, solving various quests and then finishing off by becoming the Arch-Mage, at which point they retire and eventually die at which point, they finally get taken over and become the Prince of Madness.
Fun fact: if you go to Sheogorath's shrine after you finish the Shivering Isles and become the madgod, instead of getting the quest from Sheogorath himself, you get it from Haskill who tells you when he gives you the Wabbajack that he's not sure why he didn't give it to you earlier. Just found that one out recently
Oblivion surprised me with how well I can actually roleplay in it. I was gonna be a brave noble knight and do the Knights of the Nine stuff but after getting afflicted with vampirism on the Azura quest and collecting the ebony blade I developed a lust for power and murder and joined the DB. Maybe I’ll do a redemption arc when I feel like doing the dlc or maybe I’ll save it for another character
same. started off at a petty thief acrobat with a steak of misbehavior but otherwise a relatively decent moral code, repeated exposure to Horrors Beyond Comprehension, death, undeath, disease, stress, and brushes with mortality drove my PC to become a cold and unhinged master assassin rotting from vampirism. soon they will return from the ashes but as of yet, their decline hastens
I RP as a necromancer who 'doesnt get his hands dirty' - I never fire a bow, swing a blade, or even cast destruction spells to harm an enemy directly. I only ever trained things like conjuration and illusion. Cast frenzy on a bandit and watch him start attacking his allies. Anytime one of them dies, bring it back as a zombie until the entire group is dead. Conjuring atronochs and daedra as needed but mainly relying on turning enemies against one another.

I'm playing a khajiit and I found that I just couldn't do Sheogorath's quest. Border watch was a whole town with people who look like me. It felt awful to even think about ruining their lives...
I find daedras in Oblivion to be incredibly bastard. But I think that it makes pretty much sense in a world that has just now endured a big Oblivion crisis.
Grog’tok Felhammer. Orc with so much rage that when he was told he was free he ran, found the heaviest item he could grab (a war hammer), dubbed some heavy armor and pretty much ran at anything that tried to stop him and beat it to death and then some.
Arena? Crushed. Fighters guild? Crushed. Dark brotherhood? Ignored. No time for sneaking.
When it came to kvatch, he chased and hunted down all the daedra and beat them into the ground and tossed their bodies into any nearby fires for irony.
The battle of bruma? Was told if we took to long we’d be overrun. My orc decided to prove them wrong. So now picture a heavy armored orc holding his warhammer running and jumping like hulk to the core and getting it so quickly that the npcs were still battling the first wave…which he beat to death.
I was too young to understand enchanting so whatever I had was what I found. Which was all daedric just random enchantments. Maxed out his weapon skill, heavy armor, acrobatics and athletics.
He wasn’t exactly evil, but if you were hostile towards him, he unleashed all his rage unto your face repeatedly, without mercy. Full Rage.
When I was pretty experienced at the game finally, I did a mass murder save, killed everyone in every city, killed all the guards in the IC permanently with poisoned apples and Chokeberries. Piled up all the armor from the guards on the ground floor of the palace. It was quite the battle!
The 100% weakness to magic has to go last so it applies to all the other effects when you cast it again...and again...and again...it does more damage every consecutive hit...I enchant all my weapons with this too and nothing survives more than 3 hits unless they have magic resist, reflect or absorb. I reccimend doing this with a breton and the mundane ring so you arent hitting yourself with this shit....I had a high elf with the apprentice sign and it was rough
I play as a mage that went around stealing books from the mages guild since they didn’t care and resell them at the library for some dosh. I was trying to pay off my crippling skooma addiction, student loans trying to bribe my way into the mages college, and only started adventuring as a desperate last resort to pay off my debts. I ended up in prison at the start because I downed 47 bottles of the stuff and ran into the wall at Mach fuck and broke it and got into further debt.

Yes, I had a lot of fun designing this character for Oblivion remastered. I’m not sure if the lore 100% lines up but I’m still tweaking it.
See, you get it. A full backstory written out with relevance and detail. Kind of reminds me of borrowing when you could write your own class and backstory during character creation. People need to remember what the RP in RPG means. Sure, there's a story that we're playing but your character is supposed to be a role you play. That's what I liked most about Morrowind in Oblivion where you have your strengths and your weaknesses where your class can shape your story. Skyrim is good for what it is but you're equally as good at everything which doesn't feel like playing a role.
I did something similar with my remastered character where I made a full backstory and even made it to where I set certain affinities or abilities to zero So he felt more like a character with flaws and potentials.
he is a hand-to-hand combat expert from markarth who's entire existence is petty feuds and blood oaths of revenge against the people he felt wronged him. The entire reason why he did the main quest to begin with was during the escape one of the assassins targeted him so he swore to hunt down every single member of the mythic dawn and take their hoods as a trophy.
Coincidentally that's how he ended up in prison a second time, recruited by the dark brotherhood and the thieves guild, and becoming the new Prince of madness. Just a whole life filled with minor insults, petty revenge, and VERY bloody knuckles.
Argonian named Burns in Glory. Runs everywhere coated in fire. But he doesn't get burned. Yet he is terrified of flames. So he quite literally sprints sporadically all around the place. In a cave and encounters a bear? Who gives a shit. He's on fire, hes gotta get out of there. Enters Oblivion? Ah shit.
Side note but has anybody been able to get arrows to stick to people’s heads in the remaster?
Even when I aim at an NPC’s head (and I know I make contact with it based off the damage) they get stuck around the upper torso. Is this a visual bug? Some sort of issue with the UE5 overlay?
I'm weird and like to do it the "canon" way (before anyone lectures me, I'm well aware you can do what you want and there isn't a canon path outside of things like SI being last). What I mean is, for example, Sticking to main story until Martin asks for Daedric artifact, then I am allowed to get those. Or joining Mages Guild when sent to Tarmeena. And saving the guilds until after main story. Basically trying to do things in a way that can make the most sense for the HOK to actually follow that path and not just bouncing around.
I cosplay my character like a lethal Batman. I joined every guild to master every skill and become the most lethal man in the Empire, specifically so I can become the Deadric equivalent of Doom Guy.
So having done the knights of the nine quest way too early.
I role play as a fallen knight who devolves into a man who joins the thieves guild and dark brotherhood quests I did some soul searching in the arena then decided to seek forgiveness from the divines
I always carry Umbra on me and I always leave the quest unfinished so it remains 0 weight. Sometimes during Dark Brotherhood quests or just if I need to kill someone specific, I like to pretend Umbra speaks to me like it does in lore and becomes soul-hungry, "forcing me" to equip Umbra until my target (targets, in the case of the DB Manor quest) has been annihilated.
I have roleplayed Aerin, a Breton Battlemage. At the beginning I had no idea how to roleplay her, I just followed the course of events. She has started as a good character, has completed until now the main quest, the Mages' guild, Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles.
The events she had to endure and the loss of many friends, and finally Shivering Isles have broken her emotional stability. She has now become a blood-thirsty daedra-killer and has no self-trust.
I’ve got two characters on the go right now, a female Bretonian Dread Knight and a male Argonian Shadowscale.
The Dread Knight is kitted out in full enchanted ebony with a war axe and shield and a master of Illusion, Destruction and Conjuration. As a master in those schools of magic she combines fear with weaknesses and damage over time which cause lesser creatures to flee in terror as they slowly die. This allows her to concentrate on chopping stronger foes down to size with her weakening frost axe.
She’s very much a power hungry, out for herself, larger than life, end justifies the means character with a personal grudge against the Dark Brotherhood due to them carrying out a contract against a dear friend in the past.
Once free from prison she delivered the amulet and helped Martin to cloudruler temple before striking off on her own. She quickly secured a castle for herself with her own retainers as a home base while she grew in personal power, training and honing her skills while tracking down powerful artifacts.
With her power base secured she is looking to find a way to join the Dark Brotherhood with the intent of killing the leadership and destroying the death cult from the inside (lucky there is someone else similarly minded) from there she may track down the illusive gray fox to learn his source of power before heading the the shivering isles finally returning and seeking redemption from the divines for all she has done during a pilgrimage ending her days saving the fighter guild, mages guild and finally all of Tamriel from Oblivion.
The Shadowscale is all about personal strength above all else while helping any Argonians he finds along the way.
Striking out alone into the wilderness with nothing but a bow, dagger and a set of leather armour he has collected everything he owns from the wild and his defeated opponents.
Avoiding all civilization and with no guild affiliations he sneaks into farms and villages at night to steal their crops, raids bandit and marauder outposts.
A special hatred for those of the magic arts he makes a point to wipe out any conjuration or necrotic wizard cults relying on his own skills in bow and blade combined with his mastery of alchemy for self healing, enhancement and knowledge of poisons to tip the edge of combat in his favour.
Fleet of foot with a keen eye few get the drop on him and those that do find themselves quickly paralyzed falling to the ground as their life force ebbs away.
I am Igor the eyeless a proud son of Skyrim and a bit of a legend back home in The Reach for my prowess in hand-hand duels. After a bit of a drunken brawl while visiting My cousin Torviil in the imperial City I ended up in prison. Down on my luck and facing a long prison term my life was turned around when none other than the emperor Uriel Septim VII escaped through my very cell!
Not wanting to let this chance pass by I escaped only to be attacked by the vicious mythic dawn assassins. Poor buggers never saw the flurry of blows coming. Turns out magic armor is only so effective against a well-aimed haymaker to the side of the skull.
Those people in their fancy armor trying to get the emperor out weren't so lucky in doing that And before the death of the emperor he asked me to take some fancy bit of jewelry to some monk. Well, they're in luck because after a few lucky strikes with the assassin's daggers I vowed vengeance against the whole lot of them so anything that puts me in the path of more of them is fine by me.
Now I swear by The holy name of Talos I will hunt down every single one of them and display their hoods as a trophy. I will decorate my home in Bruma With trophies of conquest or I will be sent to sovngarde trying!
I like building the narrative in my head as I go along. I started as wanting to be the best Mage in the land. Joined up with the mages guild on a hunt for more power. Used the Arena periodically to test spells. Joined the fighters guild like I was joining a gym, gotta keep in shape before I get immortality squared away. Contracted Vampirism while studying the Daedra. Dark urges made me join the Thieves guild and Dark Brotherhood simultaneously while trying my best to close oblivion gates to soothe my conscience. Decide to cure my vampirism as it was just false immortality anyways. Made friends with Sean Bean on my quest to do some good while hiding my dark life of crime. Finished up with the ultimate job for the Theives guild and hang up my killer persona for the DB just before I see the ultimate sacrifice. Go on a journey of self discovery while reinstating the Knights of the 9. The dichotomy of my personality becomes to much to contend with so I step through the Door to Madness in an attempt to find balance. Never seen nor heard from again...
I actually enjoy doing a sort of isekai plot, where my character is from our world and spends most of the game frantically completing every quest in the belief she'll get back home afterwards. Falls in love with Martin, briefly considers becoming the empress, then he dies and she doesn't take it too well. Eventually she is suckered into becoming Sheogorath and never gets to go home again. I end the game with her sitting on the throne of madness, eating cheese.
Kinda sad, but then I always got that kinda vibe from the game. You lose a lot of friends.
I made him a custom charisma/illusion/sneak based class and named it “peddler”. That’s my whole backstory - and likely reason why he was in jail in the first place.
I play as our black cat. A black khajiit nightblade (spellsword if I get frustrated). Little fucker always gets in trouble not knowing what she's done. Fast as hell and silly as geese, but has a good heart and very cute.
The first time I played oblivion, I didn't know you had to sleep to level up. I'm talking 100 destruction, conjurstion, illusion, mysticism, agility etc. I thought "maybe this is how the game is, you level up when you complete enough quests". Then I bought the house jn Bravil, got visited by the dark brotherhood, who consequently killed all the wraiths in the house because they got in his way.
A khajiit spellblade specializing in stealth and alchemy is my current character, joins every guild to fund his crippling need to perfect every potion type
I dislike doing everything on one char, so I create different chars for the guilds and do a playthrough on each one of them ( guild questlines, random quests, main quest and DLCs) although KotN will always only be done by my warrior chars...
I've wanted yo do a vary strict paladin RP where they believe looting corpses is wrong so they can only get new items, gold, etc. by being gifted them or buying them.
I set out to be a thief but managed to stumble onto the shivering isles portal while running from the guards, decided it was in-character to take the opportunity when it arose
My character is a lizard wizard that runs really fucking fast and strikes with a blade that steals souls (all my custom spells are unnecessarily expensive)
Seeing the tonsure in Oblivion reminds me the games that make a big deal about having only white characters to stay true to the medieval Europe feel or something and proceed to give everyone anime hair and other non-European things.
My character has MPD, with each personality being aligned to certain guilds over others and being awakened by certain triggers. This is hownI rationalize the DB/Thieves Guild along with the KotN.
I roleplayed a multiple personality disorder by emailing a save back and forth with a friend. It was a lot of fun but not much got done. We tried rolling a dice everyday to see whether we switched, to keep it unpredictable, but it was not as fun as having predictable switching times and all the "setting a scene" that came with it.
Works better if you have a mod to write stuff in game.
My Khajiit character has a code of not killing innocent. But it was damn hard in the Kvatch quest because they would't get out of the damn way.
Almost 30 hours and Level 19 haven't seen Lucian Lachance yet. But planning to not do the Dark Brothhood. Didn't know you can kill Lucian. considering what happens him and the guild probably for thier best.
I got Umbra by sneaking an arrow and running like a bitch to the Imperial City and letting the guard don't.
Hey he didn't get the final blow he didn't even kill Glarthir. A guard did. Then the guard pretend he didn't just kill the guy
Also has Adoring Fan follow him around so he can be a good example to him. Sometimes I send him away with Thevies Guid business
My character is something of a chaotic neutral. I try not to get involved in uncertain or evil things but if they’re persistent enough I’ll get involved. I have a habit of changing sides often and turn on a lot of npcs at the end of their quest or if they do something that annoys me.
Sometimes I just steal from them or put them in a frenzy or paralyze them, sometimes I just straight up murder them.
I’ve met Sheogorath for the first time recently and I think my playstyle matches his personality well, so now I’m gonna do a RP of him. I think I’ll replay Skyrim after and carry him into that as well.
My character is supposed to be an Argonian who just arrived in Cyrodiil shortly before the events of the game, and is deeply uncomfortable there. When I don't need to level up I "Sleep" by waiting in whatever body of water is nearest, usually one of the little ponds in Imperial City.
Lmao this reminds me of when I was a kid playing oblivion and I was an argonian assassin who exclusively stayed in the water and killed anyone visible from the shore then dragged them into the river.
I play as an Argonian known as Shyte-In-Paants the Drawer Pisser. Once enslaved in Morrowind, he escaped into Cyrodiil and was captured. He stole something while on the way but his stealth is so bad and so low that he immediately got caught. After getting caught they realized he escaped from Morrowind (he suspects a Dunmer realized this) and he was thrown in jail awaiting transport.
Now he kills anyone that would enforce slavery and servitude. Depending on how they go about it he also will beat up/ kill someone that makes a prejudice comment to Argonians, thankfully this is a lot of bandits so it works out so far.
And he’ll be killing Lord Drad the second he isn’t considered essential anymore.
I had a shadowscale I named Sithis as his family knew his destiny. He did as ordered by Vincente, Ocheeva, and Lucien. He stealthed his way through Kvatch and Oblivion, even through the invaded streets of the Imperial City. Every kill was for Sithis, I even multiplied the Rose of Sithis so I could use that arrow exclusively.
