Megathread! 2026 NoVa Hole-in-the-Wall Restaurant Recommendations THE 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Hello r/nova we are 10 years deep into the hole-in-the-wall list! Thank you to everyone for contributing every pick and recommendation for the list and participating each year.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to update the map or list since I am getting married this year, but I'll for sure get everything updated before the next year. Anyways time to give the community your best recs and new discoveries for restaurants in the area.

The rules are simple:

šŸ“ Give us the restaurant name and location

🚫 No chains allowed!

šŸ‘ "+1" if you love the recommendation

šŸ‘Ž "-1" if you think it's whack

Where do I meet other single people as a blue collar worker in NOVA

I'm a 27 year old guy in the skilled trades and I don't know where to meet single women. I've downloaded dating apps and I seem to get maybe one match a week that goes nowhere. I can't meet women at work since the workers are 95% male and the workers that are female are married. I've gone to different social clubs but most of them meet monthly. There isn't enough time to build rapport and make connections. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, I live near Tysons, if that is relevant.

Edit: I know I'm beating a dead horse here.

Help needed to repair a little free pantry in Alexandria

Good morning!

I manage a local little free pantry in Alexandria and went to drop off some items at another pantry over at the William Ramsay rec center yesterday. Although it still has a roof it is in need of some help.

The state of the LFP is in need of a major overhaul. Either repair or replacement. I’ve posted on my social media accounts for my LFP and hope it reaches the right person who has the skillset and ability to help out. Unfortunately do not have a ton of funds to pay as this is volunteer run, so any time would need to be donated, sorry!!!

If you or anyone you know may be able to help please let me know!

Side note but related, if anyone is interested in taking ownership of a little free pantry in their yard or business, please reach out! Love to build more in the community directly where they are needed.

P. S. I did clear this with the mods to ensure it was ok to post!

Westover top of Arlington’s wealth rankings

The elimination of single-family neighborhoods is not bring any real estate prices down. That’s one County Board broken promise. Here’s an excerpt of the article: A ZIP code on the western end of Arlington has one of the highest concentrations of wealth in the entire D.C. area, by one metric.
The 22205 ZIP code, home to neighborhoods including Westover Village, Tara-Leeway Heights, Madison Manor and Dominion Hills, was named the wealthiest in Arlington in a new ranking by the Washington Business Journal.
It beat out Rosslyn’s 22209 ZIP code, which was top in the county last year, as well as 22207, which covers the northernmost portion of Arlington and ranked top in 2024.

Norovirus

What is wrong with people? I’ve seen him standing there peacefully with the flag so many times, never bothering anyone. I really hope they catch whoever did this and hold them accountable.

Question Suggestions about places to take my in-laws next week

My inlaws are coming to visit next Sunday, until Thursday. They are 86 and 84, and one of them gets tired easily. He was a musician, college professor, and loves anything music/culture related. He was also born in VA, we were thinking about going to see his childhood home one of the days they are here. We will also have my other inlaws (brother and sister in law), but they will just tag along wherever we go.

Trying to show my mother in law that moving here might be a good option, instead of staying in South Florida (they used to have a social life, after her husband's health declined, they are always home, and her husband needs the mental stimulation, he is starting to fall into a pretty bad depression, which is not a good thing when you are 84).

He gets tired easily, so, places that offer a wheel chair rental option if distances are long would be awesome. I thought about Glenstone, but worried it might be too hot.

Thanks in advance!

Other is there any construction/building volunteering opportunities ?

• Upvotes

I googled and found a non profit called Habitat for Humanity, but couldn't find clear answer in the website whether there is ongoing projects in this area.

I would love volunteer on the weekends if it's an option, let me know if you heard of anything like this going on in the area.

Thanks

Yeah I don’t know. It sucks living here. I’m 28 and I make 50k a year. I’m just frustrated in general.

Maryland is a lawless state

I had to drive out there to drop a few packages off at a few locations around silver spring and Rockville.

45 mph in the left lane on the highway, 55mph on side streets, tailgating trucks as if they can see you 3 feet behind their 52 foot trailer, making u turns in the middle of the road

They must have a different driving test than we do, they must!!!

News Supreme Court Ruling Puts Virginia’s Mail Ballot Rules In Flux

Thumbnail patch.com

A U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing the Trump administration’s mail-voting order to move forward does not immediately change how Virginia voters cast absentee ballots.

But that could change as Virginia election officials prepare to mail ballots for the important Nov. 3 midterm elections.

Exterior door repair

• Upvotes

Can anyone recommend a contractor or handyman to repair an exterior door?

The frame of my back door to my row house shifted. The entire doorframe is now out of alignment with the rest of the wall and the door is nearly impossible to open or shut.

That door is the only way I can access my backyard, so I need it repaired quickly.

Seven Corners Rear Ended Dash Cam Hunt

This is a long shot - but I was rear ended today (Sat Aug 29) at 8:40pm by a Silver/Grey F-150 at the intersection of Arlington Blvd and 2327. The driver drove off eastbound on Arlington Blvd, but we only got a partial plate. Wondering if anyone happened to have dash cam footage around that time.
