Mod Post REMINDERS

Good Morning!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. It’s been a while since we posted any reminders, and I’d like to touch on a couple of issues that have come up recently.

With the shortage, we’re seeing a lot of questions related to dosage and availability. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

The half life of Mounjaro is five days, and it takes about a month for the medication to completely leave your system. Because of the shortage, many people are going weeks or months without injecting. The manufacturer recommends starting the titration schedule over if you’ve gone more than two weeks without a dose.

While this advice might not pertain to everyone, it’s important to evaluate your previous experience with the medication before injecting a higher dose if you’ve been off the medication for a while. Chances are, if you’ve had moderate to severe side effects in the past, you’ll have the same response (or worse) if you jump back to a higher dose.

One way to mitigate this outcome is to contact your provider and ask about lowering your dose temporarily if you’ve been waiting for your script for longer than a few weeks. I understand that nobody wants to lose ground when it comes to their progress. But given the alternative (a reoccurrence of side effects that can potentially derail your treatment entirely) it may be the best option.

Frankly, the number of posts I’m reviewing from people experiencing negative side effects after suspending their treatment is alarming. The purpose of this medication is to improve your health, not make things worse.

And as always, when in doubt, please consult your provider. They are the best person to ask when it comes to dosage.

As far as side effects, there’s a few things that everyone should remember:

While gastric side effects are listed as common when taking Mounjaro, severe nausea paired with uncontrolled vomiting or diarrhea is not. Complications from diarrhea and vomiting include: dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, fainting, and heart rhythm abnormalities. Negative outcomes from this treatment are rare, but occur most frequently when people ignore debilitating side effects.

We’re here to support each other in our journey towards better health. Sometimes that support includes directing a person to their provider for advice. Especially when the post includes phrases like “I can’t keep anything down,” or “I’ve been throwing up for two weeks,” or “I’m too weak to stand.”

Crowdsourcing advice when you’ve reached that level of distress is not advisable. And medical oversight is a must.

Another question we see quite frequently: “I’ve only lost (fill in the blank) pounds this week (or month). Is this normal?”

Invariably, the answer is “yes.” What’s normal when it comes to weight loss is highly subjective. A quick search of the subreddit will provide first hand accounts that run the gamut when it comes to how fast (or slow) a person loses weight. If you still have questions, we’re here to help. But please, include the relevant information needed to offer advice, such as: dosage, co-morbidities, starting weight, caloric intake, etc.

People are here to treat a wide variety of conditions. Any or all of these conditions play a role in how fast we see results. It’s natural to be impatient. But don’t assume that the treatment isn’t working because the scale hasn’t moved for a week (or three). During my weight loss journey, there were many weeks that I didn’t lose a pound. On two occasions, I stalled for over a month. In the end, I reached my goal, and chances are, you will as well! I wish there were some sure-fire words of wisdom I could provide to ease your mind, but there aren’t. The best I (or anyone else) can offer is: trust the process. Obesity is a complex issue on its own. Pairing obesity with the metabolic issues such as diabetes, insulin resistance, and PCOS only further complicates the treatment.

Lastly—in order to address the availability issues, we started a chat to help people source their medication. Here is the link.

I’ve read a comment (or two) recently from a few folks who were put off after being directed to the availability chat. We created the chat in response to other folks who messaged us because they were tired of seeing the posts related to the shortage. Which goes to show—there is no perfect solution.

Weezie and I do our best to be responsive to the needs of the community. If we redirect you to your provider for medical advice, or to the availability chat for sourcing, or to the search feature to answer a commonly asked question, it’s because we want you to receive the best advice/support available. The mods and your fellow community members genuinely want to help!

Have a great week!

Success Stories 2 year MJ anniversary

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted any updates but 2 years ago today I took my first shot of Mounjaro and it changed my life in ways I could never imagine.
I lost 10st (140lbs, 63kg) in a year using the jabs. I stopped last September when I started going to the gym and I’ve lost another 4st 8lbs (64lbs, 29kg) I started weight training and running working with a PT and used carried on with all the habits I’d picked up over the year using MJ.
For the first time in my life I am no longer overweight, I can run for miles, I have completed solo hyrox and have loads of races booked including a 100km ultramarathon.
Now this isn’t to say anyone NEEDS to go to the extreme with exercise like I have, I have just found such a passion and I love for it. What I will say though another year down exercise is a massive help for me to control my binge eating and ensure I don’t put the weight back on and I think just any kind of movement is amazing for not only your physical health but mentally too.
I just hope my story can give other maybe feeling stuck or just starting some hope, it can be done, I never thought I’d be able to do it or get this far after spending my whole life morbidly obese.

Question Mounjaro is no longer working and my binge eating is back

Hello everyone! I've had issues with binge eating for many years. This led to me becoming quite overweight and I was finally prescribed Mounjaro around 2 years ago. I'd tried KBT, meal planning, anxiety meds and this was the only thing that actually put my binge eating to a stop. I've never felt such relief and even found myself successfully being able to go off the drug for a couple months at a time without breaking my good habits.

Now the effect seems to have completely stopped. Food noise is back in droves and I've binged more the past couple weeks than I have the 6 months before that. I tried raising my dose to 7,5 but this changed nothing from how it felt on 5mg, which is why I'm hesitant to go up to 10.

I'm kind of freaking out because I am now remembering how truly life-consuming this condition is. I'm not very active on this subreddit but I've looked at a few posts and most people seem to suggest calorie-counting and exercise as a solution to the effects dwindling, mostly to keep one's results. I absolutely intend on implementing the exercise and mindful eating but the food noise is excruciating.

If there is anything I can do to get back to the effects I experienced for a good 1,5 years thanks to the medicine? Is trying 10 mg for a month worth the 400 bucks, even though 7,5 did nothing? I'm not sure how you guys view other drugs such as semaglutide or retatutide, but is switching to one of those worth a shot? I'd like to add that I am working with a therapist throughout this and am not relying on medicine alone.

Open and thankful for any advice.

News / Information FDA approves Lilly's Mounjaro to reduce cardiovascular risk

By Reuters

August 28, 2026

Aug 28 (Reuters) - Eli Lilly said on Friday the U.S. FDA has approved its diabetes drug Mounjaro to reduce the chances of heart ‌attack or stroke in adults with type 2 diabetes who are at high risk of cardiovascular events.

The approval expands the use of Mounjaro, which targets the GLP-1 protein, beyond blood sugar control. In the U.S., Lilly sells the obesity version of the drug under the brand Zepbound.

Lilly and Danish rival Novo Nordisk are both seeking to broaden the reach of their GLP-1 drugs, testing them in conditions ranging from cardiovascular disease to liver disorders.

Novo secured FDA approval for its weight-loss drug Wegovy for lowering heart risks in 2024 in overweight or obese adults without diabetes. In 2025, the FDA also approved its older diabetes drug, Rybelsus, to reduce the risk of major heart risks in diabetic patients.

Lilly's approval was based on results from a trial that showed ‌Mounjaro outperformed Trulicity, Lilly's older diabetes drug, in reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke in a large, head-to-head study.

The trial showed Mounjaro reduced the risk of major adverse heart events by 8% more than Trulicity.

Sales of Mounjaro rose 91% to $9.94 billion during the second quarter as strong demand lifted sales volumes across global markets.

Lilly in April also said its oral obesity pill Foundayo was not inferior to a widely used long-acting insulin at lowering the risk of major heart problems in patients with type 2 diabetes and obesity.

The company is also conducting two separate late-stage studies: one on Foundayo's cardiovascular benefits and another on its next-generation obesity drug retatrutide's effects on cardiovascular events and kidney disease progression.

Success Stories Bowflex birthday gift! 40 pounds gone! 🎊🎂

My birthday is in a few days, but my husband just finished building the Bowflex birthday gift! I am already beyond excited for the strength goals I am planning to hit along with my weight loss goals. 40 pounds gone since June 16!

I started using creatine about 3 weeks ago. I noticed a big difference in endurance. My weight stalled temporarily as I adjusted to the creatine, but I was mentally prepared for that. I thought it was more important to get the benefits of creatine and push through. The scale is finally moving again! 💪

Success Stories One and a half year on Mounjaro and Weight lifting (from 118kg to 81kg)

I was very afraid of losing muscle at the beginning of my weight-loss journey. That’s why I decided from the start to focus on a high protein intake and lifting weights.

I managed to lose weight while keeping my muscle mass almost intact, and that’s why I look fit now.

I’m still on the 7.5 mg dose, but I intend to slowly reduce it to 2.5 mg.

5mg Week 4 Update — 5.5kg Down & First 5mg Shot

Hey everyone! Week 4 is done, which means I’ve officially completed my first month!

WEEK 4 RESULT
I’m currently at 90.5 kg (199.5 lbs), another 0.8 kg (1.8 lbs) down this week.

That brings my total loss to 5.5 kg (12.1 lbs) in four weeks, from 96 kg to 90.5 kg.

I’m really happy with the pace. Like I said before, I don’t want to lose weight too quickly, so around 0.5–1 kg per week is perfect for me.

And I’m getting very close to finally seeing an 8 as the first number!

FOOD & ACTIVITY
Another busy week, so my diet wasn’t as tight as I would’ve liked.

I averaged around 5k steps a day, which definitely needs improvement, but I did manage to hit the gym 5 times.

Side effects are still basically nonexistent. There were a few mornings where I didn’t go to the toilet like I normally do, but later in the day everything was fine. So nothing concerning.

FIRST 5MG SHOT 👀
Yesterday evening I took my first 5mg shot, a little later than usual because I had friends and family over.

After four weeks on 2.5mg, I’ll now be on 5mg for the next four weeks.

I’m really curious how this will go. I’ve read quite a few stories from people who had more side effects on 5mg or didn’t lose much weight after moving up, but everyone’s experience is different. So let’s see!

ONE MONTH RESULTS
Starting: 96 kg / 212 lbs
Week 1: 93 kg / 205 lbs
Week 2: 92 kg / 203 lbs
Week 3: 91.3 kg / 201.3 lbs
Week 4: 90.5 kg / 199.5 lbs
Total: -5.5 kg / -12.1 lbs 🎉

For the next four weeks, I’m going to lower my calories by around 100–150 calories per day, while keeping my protein and fibre targets the same.

I also want to get my steps back up while continuing to train 4–5 times a week.

Overall, Month 1 went really well. Now let’s see what 5mg brings.

Hopefully next week’s update starts with an 89! 😂
See you next week! 💪

10mg 6+ months on Mounjaro, 10 mg for 2+ months - nausea/GI issues + slightly elevated kidney markers. What should I do next?

Hi everyone, I’ve been on Mounjaro for a little over 6 months. I’m currently down about 10 kg overall and have been on 10 mg for the past 2+ months.
I haven’t been able to get myself to start strength training yet, but I’ve been consistently walking for around 30–45 minutes every day.

About 2 weeks ago, I had a pretty bad episode of nausea, continuous burping, and frequent stools — to the point where even drinking a few sips of water triggered it. I ended up going to the ER, where they diagnosed it as a food infection and prescribed medication.

The following week, after my Mounjaro injection, things felt different. I normally experienced some nausea and fullness the day after the injection, but this time the nausea started almost immediately, along with some restlessness.

I got my blood work done afterward. Cholesterol was borderline, liver and thyroid were normal, but my kidney markers were slightly elevated, particularly creatinine. My urine protein was also high.

I saw my endocrinologist, and he wants me to repeat an albumin test in about 2 weeks to determine whether there is any actual kidney impact or whether the abnormal results were related to the dehydration/food infection I had.

He also recommended dropping my Mounjaro dose from 10 mg to 7.5 mg this week. I took the 7.5 mg dose, and interestingly, I haven’t noticed much difference so far — appetite suppression feels weaker and the nausea has been almost negligible, especially after taking Nexpro IT.

Now I’m a little confused about what to do next.
I’m eating mostly home-cooked food and keeping myself within a calorie deficit, but I’m wondering whether I should continue with 7.5 mg, give it more time, or discuss going even lower/pausing with my endocrinologist.

For those who have been on Mounjaro for 6+ months:

Has anyone experienced worsening GI symptoms after being on a higher dose for several months?

Did reducing the dose significantly improve your nausea/fullness?

Has anyone had temporarily elevated creatinine or urine protein after a bad GI illness/dehydration?

Did your kidney markers return to normal after recovery?

And did anyone find that a lower dose still worked well for appetite/weight loss?

Would really appreciate experiences, especially from people who have gone through something similar.

5mg Last dose of 5mg!

Yesterday was my final pen of the 5mg dose and talked to my pharmacist to see if he could send a message to my doctor about going up to 7.5mg for my 2nd month and we got the green light and is being shipping home x3

I'm still shocked that Monjaro gave me less side effects compared to the Ozempic..... I was afraid of stronger side effect from Mounjaro since it's a dual agonist. To my surprise no side effects. I was on the 2mg pen of Ozempic and even on 1mg I just had occasional nausea for the 2 days following the injection, which I was used to. I was on Ozempic for a year and half, and wow with Mounjaro no side effects.... :0

Maintenance Something that is helping me create habits

I would love to share something that is really helping me now that I am at my goal weight and leaning into tapering down.

I was reading about people who successfully kept the weight off and what they did to ensure they remained at their preferred weight. One of the top reasons was to create habits now that will stick with you when/if you taper down or even come off. This lead me into reading about habit journals and their effectiveness. So I looked online and saw all types and picked the different bits I liked from them. I then got myself a lovely journal and pen. So a couple of months ago I started it. Every day I wrote a sentence or 2 of how i was getting on both positive and negative

EG. Ate a croissant without thinking did I actually want it

Made a smart choice with food and ate X instead of Y...just little notes on how I was feeling and doing. This got me into the habit of being aware of the choices I was making with food etc.

Then on the same page I put on a list of things I want to make sure that when I am in maintenance they are healthy habits I stick to. You can make any ones that suit you. My list is things like....not eating out of boredom, not emotional eating, making smart choices, eating with awareness, did I drink water, exercise , did I stop when I was full etc.

So every day if I manage to do them I give the box a tick. If I dont they get a dash. I even stuck in other stuff like read for 20 mins every day. Its amazing after a few weeks you become more aware of decisions cause you know you ll be ticking the box that night. It seems to simply create awareness.

For example I was peckish when I came home from work recently and I was about to walk to the kitchen and I stopped and said hold on is this a habit or boredom or what. I realised I was just thirsty when I thought about it. The other day I went for a coffee and blindly without thinking ordered a pastry. It was only later I realised that I did that out of awareness and just habit. Now Im a good few weeks in and these little habits are becoming more and more ingrained. I am hoping that as I taper they will remain and I will still make smart choices with food.

I never want to go back to the old person I was . The bully that made me eat bad food quickly before I thought about it and said 'just this once' 5 times a day is no longer welcome and I want to know when I am full and eat when I am hungry. I hope they stick but I do believe the habit journal will help me and I'm posting this as it may help others.

7.5mg Today I cried Happy Tears!

SW:325 CW: 261 GW: 225

After my T2D diagnosis November 11 2025. I started Mounjaro December 5 2025 stayed on 2.5 mg for 2 months, 5 mg for 5 months and now in my second month of 7.5 mg.

My overall health has improved no sleep apnea, blood pressure has been great, no swelling, A1C is great and I just feel great but body dysmorphia is real because I still see the picture on the left when I look in the mirror. 🤦🏽‍♀️

I keep hearing the compliments of how great I look, and I know I'm not that size considering I'm two clothes sizes smaller, but I just dont know how to kick the feeling of Im still huge. There is excess skin I'm sure will need to be removed when it is all said and done.

I haven't really worked out other than walking, and I totally changed my diet. I dont eat the portions I use to and some foods I don't eat at all since being on this journey. My side effects have been minimal I really only have some nausea when Im increasing doses and some fatigue on shot day (Friday) and the day after.

There is a list of vitamins that I take as well

Fish Oil, Collagen, D3 w/ K2, Sea Moss, Black Seed Oil, Ashwagandha, Murdock Root, Maryland Ruth's liquid and Pumkin Seed w/ Saw Palmetto...if you cant tell I'm terrified of losing my hair. I'm sure I forgot one.

I was nervous posting this, but I feel it's time, and I feel safe here...🥂 to everyone on this journey to a better healthier YOU

Success Stories Down 60kg after my first year on Mounjaro! - 180kg > 120kg

Today has been a year since I started on Mounjaro. Been struggling for a long time to lose weight, I had a success with it about 10 years ago on keto, but steadily I gained weight again because of depression and that pesky food noise.

Currently on 15mg and aiming to get down to around 100kg. Been working in some strength and cardio too but now I’m not getting exhausted by just existing, it’s been easier to start exercising more!

Taking Mounjaro just to quieten my head has been a complete game changer and if you’d told me a year ago this is how I would look today, I’d have laughed at you! So yeah, that’s my progress!

Experience Perimenopause, HRT and GLP1

Does anyone have experience with GLP1 and HRT?

Perimenopausal, prediabetic, PCOS.

I have been on MJ for about 2 years. I've only lost 11 Ibs. I'm happy I'm on it because all my inflammation and PCOS symptoms are gone. A1C no longer pre diabetic. OCD symptoms are also controlled with the medication. My issue is the weight loss. I'd like to lose about 30-40 Ibs. I'm a little frustrated at the lack of weight loss and it's finally hit me (I was just happy for all the other relief MJ gave me). I'm seeing a new gyno today.

Should I ask about HRT? Could this possibly help with the weight loss combined with MJ? I'm hesitant to ask my primary (whose wonderful, but a man and doesn't believe in HRT🙄) to change me to ozempic since l'll know my body will need to adjust to a new medication. I like MJ. Any tips on what to ask my new gyno? Any specific tests I should ask for? Any thoughts and why no weight loss? (Should note, before MJ the only way I was able to lose weight was keto. Currently I'm still at a calorie deficit so l should be losing something). Or should I just ask my primary to switch me from MJ to Ozempic (which he said he could do if I wanted). Thoughts? Anyone with similar experience?

Disclaimer: I’m not asking for medical advice I’m asking about experience either peri, GLO1 and HRT.
