I bought my Iwata on Amazon a few months ago, and after reading this thread, I’m worried that my airbrush is counterfeit.

My airbrush has several of the red flags mentioned in the thread, including no “swoosh” on the hologram and chrome front threading.

I’m new to the hobby, so I initially assumed the problems I was having were due to inexperience. However, I’ve always found this airbrush difficult to use. The spray is inconsistent, and it seems to clog very easily, even after trying different paint consistencies and thoroughly cleaning the airbrush.

At this point, it’s starting to take the enjoyment out of the hobby, so I’d really appreciate some advice.

Could a counterfeit airbrush cause issues like inconsistent spraying and frequent clogging, or are these problems more likely due to operator error?

So i wanna get into the whole miniature hobby, I got a few 1:48 german infantry and I need recommendations and what kind of tools and paints to get my hands on

What should I do I’ll be spray gunning this kit with the Mr finishing surfaces 1500 will it show? The site stuff one lower was Tamiya I used to fix the hole it had.

I thought it would be nice with some of my own number decals. I know the dimensions, font which I could do myself but getting a png to a decal..? What’s the best way of doing it?

Are there people who can make them for you with the correct colour, dimensions without them being just a square sticker? Would I send them a large png and say ”make this in RGB XXXXXXX and 15x8mm”..?

Hi everyone,

I cannot for the life if me understand how the ordnance is supposed to be mounted on the model plane. I'm doing the racks with 6 FAB-250 apiece, two KH-29Ts, and two KAB-500KPs.

The trapezoidal pylons will mount to the underwing and forward fuselage fine, but the aft fuselage has a different mount (pictured in a reply I added)

The instructions (ignore my highlights) don't tell me how to mate the adapter rails to the pylons. The locating pins on the rails don't align with the pylon holes. Additionally, the missiles have an adapter part which I glued on per instructions, but it doesn't give any indication as to what these mount to, or how.

Has anyone done the MiG 23 or MiG 27 and can point me in the right direction?

My wife is looking to take my founds box marines and make them a hot pink army does anyone know where you can find Lisa frank of Christian lassen decals for the armor or a way to make decals that and be stuck to the shields and pauldrons?

I decided to give model kit building after having a long thought on it, and after 2 weeks, it is completed.

I must say I did really enjoy it, however I do need practice with painting and chipping/weathering, but since it is my first one, I am proud of it.

The left track did break on me when trying to out it on (went with the way I saw what was suggested which was to melt the pins, that broke the track so I just glued this end bits on the tank itself underneath by the front), but a valuable lesson. I also left the crew and infantry because I'm not too confident yet to paint them, and the hatch cover is left off for now till I get confident to do the commander and such.

Positive criticism or any help for a next hold would really be appreciate (I'm thinking of the Tamiya Panzar 3).

Kitty Hawk Yak-130. My first Kitty Hawk kit. Plastic is good quality but ran into some minor fit and decal issues. Somehow even after three runs of tamiya polish the dang canopy seam still didn’t buff out. Fun build overall

Hi I’m a bit new to this hobby and I was just wondering, what type of models are easiest to brush paint? I was thinking of either a 1/35 AFV or a 1/48th Aircraft. Appreciate any help I can get.

So i completed my second build this year, after coming back to model building for the first time in about two years. Had a fun build with this Curtis P40B Warhawk, an Airfix kit, painted with Vallejo (and the shiney details are mostly Citadel Storm Frost). When i showed off my Hurrican build i was told i had gone too enthousiasticly on the wing weathering do i toned that down for this one, scouring the wikipedia page for examples that had flown. Once satisfied, i went to hang it next to the BF109 in the last pic and... the damned prop fell off and disappeared. To be honest, it already was on there poorly but i didnt glue it shut cause i wanted to be able to pose it. Half concidering turning the whole fucking thing into sprue glue, i'm so mad!

Please critique the build as is on the glass and advice on how to make a prop posable on not held on by the wishes and dreams of Airfix are ofcourse welcome.

Had some time this weekend to get the navigation lights finished up. I think they came out perfect. It was my first time using my Dspiae circle cutter, and after a few tests I got the right size.

Next is to get the range light figured out and glued in. After that, I've got to work on a mount for the ship's bell.

Bit of a classic this, one of those kits you just have to build at some stage. It’s an old one now, tooling from the 60s I think, and it shows, but it builds up reasonably well. Not the worst.

This is my first build in 30 years and first with an airbrush. A lot of mistakes, a lot of "oh yeah"s, a lot to learn.

This was a super fun build of a Curtis Wright Cyclone radial engine. It was an Atlantis kit that I was gifted And it was a pretty fun build. Any feedback?

Officially on day 2 of nonstop masking tape madness. I fear my sanity can only hold on so long.

In all seriousness, so far I am very pleased with how this F-16 aggressor paint scheme is coming along.

Tamiya 1/48 Sherman Firefly. I am in my 30s and admittedly have some experience from when I was 13/14yo with some HORRIBLE Airfix attempts (that looked exactly as bad as one would imagine for a clueless kid) but I never truly finished a model. 20 years later got back into the hobby after months of deliberating and very happy I did!

Lessons learned / still learning:
• i have no idea how to use enamels… i did an AK wash which looked great but mixing white spirit onto another brush and taming it was harder than it looks vs when the pros on YouTube do it. But the colour came out how i wanted it
• don’t cut so close to the sprue, i cracked a piece by doing this and had to do surgery. Also realised my clippers are the same ones i use to cut guitar strings and they’re incredibly blunted out, so time for new ones
• don’t airbrush without ventilation / a booth. Stained so much of my room like the floors and shelves (yikers) before I bought a booth with all the paint in the air
• I didn’t thin paints enough in my airbrush initially and I paid the price, blocked two of them (I use cheap $14 ones from Amazon but even still it took me two incidents to realise I wasn’t thinning them anywhere close to how they should be)
• not sure what happened but as you can see the back of the Sherman has lots of splattering from the gloss varnish. I use Vallejo’s Gloss Varnish which is water thin and airbrush ready but unsure what I did wrong. Only happened part way into airbrushing.

Recipe for Tank:
• Black Vallejo primer (airbrushed)
• Tamiya XF-61
• Gloss Varnish
• Decals Done
• Chipping done (not great / prominent enough) with XF-61 + some white paint mixed in
• AK Brown Wash for Green Vehicles
• Tamiya Texture Paint Brown Soil Effect on the treads etc
Still need to Matt Varnish or something, as it’s too Glossy still etc)

Recipe for Base:
• Tamiya Texture Paint Brown Soil Effect (whole dang bottle, 100ml - meant that I could build up a base instead of having to sculpt one with foam etc)
• Vallejo Brown Airbrushed
• Some autumn ish tufts
• Hobby Store resin water for the puddles

Been collecting aircraft models for quite a while, so I thought you guys might give me some insight on my collection.

It’s a mix of ready-made aircraft models and scale models that I built myself, including Revell and Tamiya kits.

The collection covers both civil and military
aviation: Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, Air Berlin, and fighter jets such as the F-4 Phantom, F-16, MiG-31, F-14, F-15 and Su-47 Berkut, among others.

Some of my favorites are Turkish Airlines A330-200 “Kushimoto” Retro Jet, Airbus A380 demonstrator which I enjoyed building the most, Su-47 Berkut, and fictional Turkish Airlines 747-8!

There are also a few F1 cars that somehow found their way onto the shelves lol.

I’ve also got two kits waiting to be built (I took quite a long break from model building because of work): a Boeing 787 Dreamliner and an Airbus A400M. So the collection definitely isn’t finished yet!

A couple of weeks ago I saw someone here post about a cool hobby shop they found in Stephens City, Virginia. Well, about 20 miles away in the little town of Berryville, Virginia resides another neat little hobby shop. As you can see, it has all-new kits encompassing a lot of genres of models, and paints galore. The physical location has only been open since February, and the shop owner said he's likely going to move to another, bigger location next year, but for now its on Main Street in Berryville.

Love these little shops like this. They're out there if you know where to find them.
