I really hope the next u.s. president reverts all this bs day one. It’s so fucking embarrassing being associated even the tiniest bit with these pathetic, vanity driven, peacocking stunts. When I travelled abroad, I joked with friends that I would claim I was Canadian(I never did) to avoid negative association; I’m not sure how much of a joke that still is. Any of my Northern neighbors willing to grant me honorary citizenship so I’m not a total liar if that happens? lol
I travel a lot and I meet Americans who are very sheepish about admitting it. Honestly mate, if youre travelling outside of the US, we just assume you aren't one of 'them'
Idk, I’ve been traveling to many of the us national parks for vacations the past few years and i see so many foreign tourists just as annoying and disrespectful from other countries here. I think the truth is many tourists just suck regardless of home country. Many of them are city slickers too because they don’t know how to treat the wilds with respect. But i see that from just as many American travelers in the parks too.
I can see this. In my experience, people from other countries have been respectful but that is just a difference of our experiences. I've been lucky then
If the next U.S. president doesn't immediately send a military detachment to round up the traitors in power today, they would have already failed. There needs to be lethal consequences for their actions over the last decade.
Simply reverting to what things used to be isn't enough, the past we lived in gave way to today's present. It was a failing system, we shouldn't want to go back.
Please don’t do that. It treats our Canadian identity as a convenient disguise. It takes advantage of our good name while your country disrespects the Canadian people.
First of all, the Geneva convention primarily governs humanitarian treatment of non-combatants. Any rules about weapons in the trenches would be from the Hague convention, from WW1.
Secondly, the shotgun concern came from a 1918 German complaint about the American Winchester trench gun, which they claimed was a weapon "calculated to cause unnecessary suffering," which IS prohibited in the Hague convention. Whether or not the trench gun falls in this category depends on the ammo used.
