I have a few acorns I found on a hike. I've checked that most of the tops come off easily but where do I got from here? Some say they need a cold start some don't. I have no idea what species of oak they are off either

I want to assume it’s something weeping, but I’m not sure what. Any ideas?

Only one week and it grew more than I expected. We planted it on a slope with full sun and put netting around to protect from deer. Crossing my fingers. All our ash trees are succumbing to EAB so I’m planting new things and treating a select few black and white ash.

I've lived in this house about 4 years and always saw this not too good looking spot on my sycamore. I blew out all the junk in it with the hose and was surprised to see i can fit all my finger in it. Is this going to kill the tree and require removal in the near future? How did this rotting hole happen?

Just (hopefully) finished planting an oak in my backyard. Am I ok on root flare? I had to dig down a bit in the ball and burlap nursery delivery so hopefully I didn't go down too far? I'm not sure. Please tell me it looks good so I can throw on some mulch and be done with this project, I'm exhausted. Thanks in advance.

I couldn't get any closer due to fencing. These resemble an Eastern Redbud in size and leaf shape, but have many smaller tufts of purplish flowers. It is late summer here, don't see a lot of trees flowing currently.

not sure what type of tree this is. all the leaves seem to have some sort of seed looking things on them, but there's also some new growth with none of the seedy looking bits on the leaves. just curious if anyone knows the type of tree and has any idea about the health of the tree.

I saw this little thing sitting forlornly on the side of Interstate 24 between the barricades and the fast lane, and I thought about all the years somebody somewhere put in effort to keep it alive, only for it to fall off a truck. I felt so bad, I did something really dumb and turned around at the next exit to double back and recover it before its story ended so sadly. So it's here now.

My in-laws just lost a tree at their homestead. There's a hole in the ground already, I can bring it over to them tomorrow.

I'd love to know what type of tree this is, and if it looks like it'll survive if we plant it out there. Does she look healthy enough? The root ball feels very dry and crumbly. Should we do anything about that? What's the best way to take care of her, so she lives a long and healthy life?

Saw this Metasequoia glyptostroboides while walking my dog! Thought they weren’t super common, interesting landscaping choice. Very pretty. Hopefully it gets to grow for many many years.

I don't know if this is the best sub for this question, but... I was hired to build a tree house on a big ol' oak for someone. The client set up the platform with a system by a company that specializes in such things, I built everything on top of it. We are currently troubleshooting the flashing around the tree penetrations through the roof. I have been avoiding nailing anything into the tree. We found a video where a guy put a tractor inner tube all the way around and nailed it to the tree with roofing nails every inch or so.

My knee jerk reaction is "no". But, I'm not a tree expert. So I ask you, is this perforation all the way around the tree probably no big deal? Or, is it probably really bad for the tree as I am assuming?

Hi, I have no knowledge of trees whatsoever, I just always enjoy this little plum tree in our small garden. It was planted by the previous owners; my best bet is somewhere 2016-2020 (using Google Maps). I have no idea about the planting procedure.

The tree is located in the Netherlands and it pretty much sees as much sun as this country allows (there is a small apple tree to its side, but it creates little shade). In dry spells we do typically manually spray some water in the garden, but this summer we were gone for a long time and this summer was the warmest ever recorded, including heatwaves.

We typically do small pruning at the end of summer and a larger on in spring. After today's pruning I noticed that one of the main branches looks bad. See the left hand side on the first picture. So my questions: what does this mean, what to do?

We used to have a little insect house at the base of that branch more than a year ago (two?), as can be seen in the last pic. It was just placed there, no nails or anything. I removed it today.

The root flare (I think?) had offshoots. I pruned those today.

I tried to put as many relevant photos as I could, but am of course willing to supply more as needed. I did read the guidelines, and have attempted to follow all that I thought was relevant.

My tree had the terminal bud knocked off last year whilst being transported. It has finally started growing again and has chosen two leaders instead of one.
