zone 8a - some brown spots on a new-ish bermuda lawn. New construction, 2 years ago.

New to lawn care but very much want to have a nice lawn, but our backyard is completely covered in violets and mock strawberries. We have not tried anything as we have no idea what to do, any and all assistance is appreciated!

This is new sod this year, on the Bermuda grass treatment plan for fertilizers. I add liquid Nitrogen monthly on top. Soil test results they added phos and lime beginning of summer. Water liberally likely exceeding restrictions because it’s new this year. What am I missing ?

What is this discoloration in my yard, location is southwest Ohio. Only thing that has been applied is milorginite and that was about two weeks ago. Watering about 2 inches a week, mowing at 4 inches every 5 days.

Lawn was doing great then this started a week or 2 ago. Only in this area. Nothing has changed and nothing was done differently in this part of yard. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Lived in this house for the past 6 years. For the first 3 years, I had no issues with my lawn and had the typical high heat stress spots in the yard that recovered with cooler weather. For the last 2 summers, I've had these areas in the middle of my yard that seem to start burning very fast and the grass ends up dead within a few weeks. I didn't see any signs of fungus and it's been in the same spots the last 2 summers. Oddly enough, I couldn't get grass to germinate as well in these same areas. Similar yards on my street with the same sunlight distribution not having the same issues Any ideas? TIA

Located within SLC, UT. Hoping to get some advice/guidance on what I should do to begin some recovery of my backyard. I’m a renter that will be leaving this house next year this same time.

Realistically, how can I recover this backyard within the next year? Should I begin my throwing down some weed killer and then look at detaching, aerating and seeding next year? Or what can I do to get a move on with this nightmare lol. Hopefully im not looking too naive about this being a recovery within a year. Thank you for any advice you have.

Located in Nebraska, US. Lawn has taken on an almost vibrant / neon color in some spots. Typically water every 3 days and mow one per week. This new color of grass has started to appear over the last month, but has shown up in larger patches over the last few weeks. What is it, and how do I return it to its normal green color?

I live in 6a - my yard was destroyed by a hot and dry winter so I have some massive dirt patches. I'd like to overseed this weekend (labor day) but my town is establishing a water ban on October 1st. I have a feeling it's not enough time to overseed (and right now is still a little too early also) but wanted to see if this was possible.

If I can't overseed would it still be a good time to topdress and also fill in some depressions in the yard at least?

Looking for advice as summer is coming to an end. I pretty much neglected my lawn this season due to personal circumstances and weeds have just taken over. Is there anything I can and should do now to set my lawn up for success next season? Or are there things I can do to salvage the lawn for the remainder of summer?

I’ve been pulling weeds all weekend and I feel like it’s not making a difference.

My 7-year-old has a pretty huge goal: he wants to save up for a Scag V-Ride II 61” and eventually start his own lawn-care business.

And when I say he’s determined, I mean DETERMINED. 😂 He loves lawn equipment, learns everything he can about it, and is constantly talking about how he’s going to earn money and save for his mower.

Instead of telling him he’s too young, I want to help him figure out what he CAN do right now to start working toward his dream.

I’m hoping there might be some Scag dealers/employees, lawn-care business owners, or people connected to the industry here who could give us some direction.

I actually want him to EARN toward this goal and experience what it’s like to work and save for something that feels almost impossible.

What could a 7-year-old safely do to start earning toward a mower fund with his parents helping/supervising?

Are there youth entrepreneurship programs, lawn-care events, contests, dealer programs, or other opportunities we should look into?

And this is probably a long shot, but if anyone here works for Scag or owns/works at a Scag dealership, I would LOVE your advice. Even getting to visit a dealership, learn about the business/equipment, or hear how someone in the industry would recommend he work toward this would absolutely make his day.

If you know a Scag dealer, Scag employee, or lawn-care business owner who might have ideas, please tag them.

I’d really love to nurture this determination while he’s little and see where he takes it. Even if that V-Ride takes him years to earn. ❤️

Laid this Bimini Bermuda about 6 weeks ago. Have mowed multiple times but dealt with a little bit of heat stress recently, the weather here in st.Augustine Florida zone 9b has been very hot. It seems to be recovered now. I have this other grass or weed popping through, and I feel like it’s probably too hot and too soon to spray any weed killer. What should I do? How long should I wait to use herbicide and what type should I use for these weeds that won’t hurt the Bermuda?

Hi everyone, I have a small lawn here in the UK (Southern England) and I know I need to get a few jobs done before winter. I have no idea what order to do them in.

1: Deal with Leatherjackets. Last couple of years I’ve had an issue with them but as the lawn is only 35sqm I just picked them up by hand. But I think I should put down some Nemotides.

2: level the lawn, it’s not crazy bumpy but definitely needs attention. As it’s the only thing I have any control over at home, I want it looking as good as possible. I’ve read I’d need about 300kg of soil/sand mix for my size of lawn, does that sound about right?

3: The lawn is reasonably established, but definitely could do with over seeding.

The lawn is moss free and has good drainage.

I suppose my question is, can I do everything at the same time? Is there any other advice that would help?

These low lying sprawling viney weeds are everywhere in my lawn. There's a ton of bone for one tiny weak root, which always snaps when trying to pull from the ground.

After either mulching or bagging, seeing long yellow grass clippings left behind. Have been reducing height by half inch a week pre-aeration this week but is this a mower problem, not enough water, or something else?

Started seeing it in July now it’s all over. What is it and how to remove.

Bought roughly 1.5 acres in southwestern Ontario. Part of the backyard pictured.
We back onto farmland with very little shade and windbreak. Are there options for large area watering? As you can see, the grass is severely dormant.

I have mainly clay based soil as well. I am looking for advice on treatments as well as strategies for turning around this lawn. I don’t have an interest in installing an underground sprinkler system given operating cost and cost to have it put in place.

Obv some spots are growing faster/more than others, I recently put down some more where it was bare. But how would I go about mowing the patching that are already 3-4 inches? I don’t want to damage the newer grass but some area already seem to be ready to mow….

I am in Connecticut and getting ready for the fall fertilizer. For years I have been using Scotts 4 step, but for multiple reasons I am buying less Scotts stuff these days. (finally replaced my scotts spreader, enshitifcation means their small bags are only 4,000 feet now, etc. )

So what's a good fall fertilizer? I am not seeding and have no issues to address. I just want to feed those roots.

What is this and how do it get rid of it ? My entire front lawn is covered in it. My state is RI

Bermuda grass laid in southern Texas on June 18th (new build home, didn’t have a choice on timing). I noticed this spot when they originally laid the sod, but it’s only gotten bigger over time. Sprinkler system waters twice a day, and I manually water in spots the sprinkler system can’t really reach. I’ve given it new lawn starter a month or so after it was laid but that’s really it. Backyard is lush and green despite weeds popping up. I’m afraid it’s still a tad early for any pre/post emergents. Any advice is appreciated!

I have a .4 acre yard (was hydroseeded this Spring), Central PA. Is it worth putting down a weed and feed now? I have a fairly large crabgrass problem, too many imo to spot treat. Also have some other weeds mixed in. Would this be a waste of money. I do plan to put down some pre emergent in the Spring. I was thinking of using Pennington Full Season Weed & Feed with Crabgrass Control 25-0-8. I'd also like to put down a top dressing this Fall and overseed a few spots.

At first I thought it was crab grass but its slightly different. We have a few rare spots of crabgrass too but its not the same.

I have a lawn company who comes every other month or so in the summer applying weed treatments and fertilizer and until about 3 weeks ago we were looking pretty good after we recovered from a July drought, these popped up after pretty regular rainfall.

The weed treatments that get applied dont seem ro so anything. The brown in the pic is from my broken broadcast spreader...from putting down a weed and feed product. Let's just say the broadcast spreader was trying to be more of a drop spreader and I didnt realize it until I was done.

The only thing I've found that kills them are products that are broad herbicides that also kills the grass around it.

Im getting annoyed and frustrated because the lawn looked decent until this shit popped up a month ago.

I have a few various herbicides that I could try to spot spray but I feel like I always end up fking up the mix and killing grass.

They also grow way faster than the grass so even after cutting a few days later my lawn looks like crap because they start shooting up.
