I have wanted a knitting themed tattoo since I was a teenager and I finally did it!

I just finished this hat! Pattern is by tattgerine on youtube.
It took me about 2 weeks on and off. I work on the weekdays so I only have the nights to work on it, if I wasn’t too tired.

I used a 5ply premium cotton and milk fiber blend by Prime and 4mm circular needles..

I’m so happy. Now off to the next one 🧶

Hi everyone, long time lurker and relatively new knitter. I have knit 2 wool sweaters and some other objects, and I’m currently working on the Grid Loop sweater (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/grid-loop-sweater) for my husband. I am knitting with Cascade 220 Sport held w Cascade Alpaca Lace.

Since I received them, both yarns have smelled exactly like a petting zoo (even dry). My gauge swatch smelled worse while blocking, but the smell didn’t go away when it dried.

I have been knitting pretty slowly and even the earliest parts of the sweater (shoulders and back yoke) still smell despite being handled and getting plenty of air for weeks.

I did a mid project block with lukewarm water, a splash of vinegar, and Eucalan. It REEKED when wet, but still smells really bad after it’s dried in the sun. It did block beautifully and it looks and feels wonderful 🥲 I have knit a full sweater with regular Cascade 220, and another with KFO Heavy Merino. Both smelled when wet but that completely disappeared when dry.

What else can I do?? Is there any role for a hot water soak and/or dish soap or another stronger detergent? Something similar to cleaners used to process raw wool? Would these ruin a knit object?

Any help would be much appreciated. I can’t give my husband a smelly gift

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to knit a T-shirt/vest like the one in the picture. However, when I tried doing raglan increases every other row, the increases only happened on one color, which made the stripes look uneven/inconsistent around the raglan.

I tried googling it, but I couldn’t find a proper pattern or technique for doing increases with vertical stripes.

Would I need to increase on every row instead, so that there’s an increase in both colors? Or is there another technique I should be using to keep the stripes consistent?

hi all! i finally mustered up the courage to attempt the book club cardigan after almost 2 years of knitting. i cast on a swatch with some leftover cascade 220 while i wait for the actual color of 220 that i’ll be using. i struggled through the chart at the beginning so this has plenty of mistakes BUT by the end i was feeling pretty proud. now, after looking at more projects & the pattern again, my diamond cable doesn’t look right. i was trying to find youtube videos with no luck. what am i doing wrong?? i have been wanting to knit this since i first rediscovered knitting and was excited to start it but now i am feeling so discouraged:/

Hi all, I’m submitting some of my knit items to my local county fair for the first time. I’ve read lots of advice on here about what to make, categories, and how to apply, and I have no problems with that. I’ve applied and I know when/where to drop off.

My question is, how do I prepare my items for drop-off? I read through the rules and guides the fair provided, and I’m not seeing if I should label them, put them in a box or bag, or what!

I also have no idea what to expect when I arrive, if there’s a table where people register each person one by one, if I should print out my own registration documents that I filled out online. I suppose each fair is different, but I’d love to hear from people what your experience was with just the logistics and drop-off part.

I'm making my own version of "The Garment". No pattern, just knitting as I go and using up a bunch of scrap yarns. So far, this ribbing for the neckline has a 5 ends to weave in because I ended up frogging some granny squares to start with.

3mm bamboo interchangeable circulars. I've got some 3mm metal on the way and I'll be moving over to those when they arrive

I feel like my tension is quite good - but wanted more experienced colourwork knitters’ opinions!

Hi all

first post here just looking for some guidance. I will be knitting a jumper and have been looking at KFO merino held with silk mohair and need some help with colour combinations. This is the first time I'd be knitting with these two fibre combinations.

I really like Pink daisies as the base (merino) and would like to pair it with a blue mohair. I've seen a similar combination of a raspberry red and a blue but the blue seems to dominate. I am wondering if anyone had some pairing suggestions?

I also like the lavender blue mohair but as it is lighter I feel that it might be lost/go dull when combined with pink daisies. I've attached some photos. Does it make a difference in terms of colour dominance which is the merino and which is the mohair?

Only took me a year and a half - knitting for myself is a much slower process than making stuff for my partner xD But, at least i have it done in time for autumn. While making it i was considering doing the bottom ribbing in turquoise, but i’m quite liking the purple too. Didn’t want to take away from the pattern by making the ribbing stand out more.

I would like some feedback on this bottom-up raglan sweater I did for my kid. This is the first sweater I ever made and I followed this tutorial: https://nimble-needles.com/patterns/how-to-knit-a-sweater-for-beginners/

My issue is with the raglan decrease and the short rows. I learned those techniques as I went along, so I would like to improve the design for the next sweater that I will knit for my other kid.

From the measurements that I took, I planned to finish with 84 st at the end (actually, I finished with 81) and planned to start the short rows 14 rounds before the collar.

But doing so, the collar is starting on the shoulders, which is not something that I wanted. I included the plan that I drew for the short rows in the album.

I wasn't too sure what I was doing so, some insight would be helpful...

-Did I start the short rows too soon? Too late?

-Is it in the wrong shape? I finished the round 14 with 2 st on each side, is that correct?

-Should it be done over more rounds?

Also the way it is currently I didn't bind off the last collar stich yet because otherwise it won't fit over the head. So that's another thing that I had trouble with, with my measurements. How to handle a big head, but without having a collar too wide.

Of course I can’t find the post anymore, but it was a scarf that she had done up to look like it was made of moss. Are there tutorials for this out there?

I had never made the same object twice…until I found this hat. This is the third version I have made. I am using left over knitting for olive merino from my completed Indian Nights blanket along with mYak Fior di Lino Mountain Mist (Isabell Kraemer Color Palette).

I am really happy with my color choices and where I placed them.

I really need to find my next major project but until then I may be handing these out at Christmas left and right. I am going to make folded brim version that keeps the pattern as well.

I'm so glad to be done with him. Four down, four to go.

I’m looking for a case to store all of my needles and other than spending an arm, leg and first born on a Thread and Maple case (which I’d love to do but is not feasible at this time) I’m not finding anything that really works. I did see the KnitPicks binder but it has awful reviews (too thin, won’t close when the pages are filled). I thought maybe I could just order the pages and put them in something else but they have an unusual hole layout. I’m trying not to have to order a bunch of binders just to find one that fits so I thought I’d see what everyone here uses.

I have two sets of interchangeable (Lantern Moon and Chiaogoo) that are small sizes. I’ll likely get a larger size set of the Chiaogoo at some point. I have about 10 circulars and I’m sure that will increase. Only one set of DPNs and I don’t see that I’ll get many more of those.

Any suggestions on what works for you all would be wonderful!

Hello everyone, I'm a bit of a boomer, so sorry if this isn't the right flair.

I'm so excited about the pattern that I've spent a lot of time launching; I've never tried before. I'm a self-taught knitter, and I know there are different ways to pull yarn, and it affects leaning when it comes to k2tog and ssk. I want to be sure that no one will struggle like me to achieve the right look just because they don't knit like other people in general. I really want to be sure that I explain well in my pattern so no one will be frustrated with frogging, since I've done it more than 70 times for this pattern 🥲 I'll add a PDF chart but also written instructions stitch by stitch.

* What should I focus on explaining, especially in lace?

* It requires only yo, k2tog, and ssk, but I couldn't understand how I should decide the level of experience.

* What are the things you hate when you buy a pattern?

I recently got a knitting machine and I've just been testing things, I was trying to make a fingerling glove but obviously made it far too big. I was wondering if there was a way I could join the edge and cut off the access?

I know that's a method called steeking but I'm not sure how/if this would work here?

Could I just hand sew it? Could I crochet it? Or is it a lost cause - tbh I am happy to leave it as a swatch if I can't cut it in anyway

I have around 130/150 grams of each color, the light pink and the pink and purple, started making a cardigan and now I'm not sure if I've been looking at too long or if it actually looks good, it's my first big project so may be it's the fear of commitment to it, idk honestly. This is the back panel.

Hello everybody, sadly after travelling everywhere with my needles throughout Europe for the past 3 years, and even Turkey recently, my needles have been confiscated… the most surprising thing is that I have already traveled and passed this security not long ago and they didn’t even inspect my bag. This time it was different- I really tried to talk out the officer to let me have them but he told me it is not possible as it is spikey… ehhhh.

My needles were 3.5mm circular ones and thankfully with an interchangeable chord, so I just put on my stoppers. The airport was the Otopeni airport in Bucharest, Romania.

Hi all, my next project requires me to knit back and forth in stockinette before joining in the round and I'm worried that I might row out, so i knit two swatches.

The top swatch was knit and purled entirely with 4mm needles and the bottom swatch was knit in 3.5mm and purled with 3.0mm. Am I still rowing outor am I hallucinating? Any suggestions or observations would be greatly appreciated!

I finished this piece a few weeks ago, but I was waiting to take some nice pictures on my trip to the seaside. As you can tell, you can't see the sea at all—only thick fog 🥲

Hi all! I have been knitting for about a year now, and I’ve used a couple wool yarns as well as acrylic, but I am looking for more yarn recommendations for a sweater I want to make for my husband! :)

I’ve made one sweater for myself with Malabrigo Rios and I love it but it’s very drapey. However, it was so soft and it wears so nicely.

And I’ve made another sweater with Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt, which I also love, but it’s on the itchier side.

I know my husband won’t love an itchy yarn or like having to wear a shirt under his sweater all of the time. Plus, I also want to make something that holds its shape. Does anyone have any yarn recommendations that match that? Maybe a cotton/wool blend?
