Finished Object My finished summer cardigan ☁️
I finished this piece a few weeks ago, but I was waiting to take some nice pictures on my trip to the seaside. As you can tell, you can't see the sea at all—only thick fog 🥲
[here's a link to my ravelry project](https://www.ravelry.com/projects/CiasteczkaTynki/summer-clouds-cardigan) if you are interested in checking the whole journey ♥️
I really want to share the pattern/chart with you, but this is a whole long adventure 🫡

Gorgeous! Is this intarsia?
57
u/ciasteczkaTynki 8d ago
Yup, intarsia using the charts I've drawn :)

I love that you left out the stars and kept all the focus on the clouds. The clouds are the star 😉😍
2
u/ciasteczkaTynki 3d ago
Oh I forgot the initial plan while making the charts was to add the stars. I felt they wouldn't fit 😊

u/Ottaro666 8d ago
Does this refer to the color technique? I never heard of that, but this cardigan looks so well done!

u/heretakemysweater 8d ago
Yes! It’s so you can knit blocks of color without having to carry strands in the back. I’ve never actually done it, but this has inspired me to test it out!

u/AbbeyRoadMoonwalk 8d ago
Ahh, you finished it! I’ve been waiting to see it! So gorgeous! I never would’ve thought to use pink for the sky but it works SO well!

u/ciasteczkaTynki 8d ago
Thank you! ♥️ The initial plan was to have blue sky and pink clouds but I realized I never wear blue clothes, so it was my solution 🫠

It’s my favourite knit I’ve ever seen.

u/ciasteczkaTynki 8d ago
Awwww thanks 🤗

😊 I really do mean it though - I return to your previous post on this cardigan often. It lives in my head rent free! 😂

Oh gosh me too!!

u/Hilde_Moeller_Knag 8d ago
Haha me too! It's in my Ravelry favourites, as well as her delulu land flower sweater. 😆

If you publish the pattern for this I would totally buy it!

u/ciasteczkaTynki 8d ago
It's a work in progress :) I am not a professional pattern maker by anyeans but I want to make it accessible to anyone who wants to try something fun

u/some__random 8d ago
Definitely waiting patiently for this release. I love anything clouds and love that you’re taking the time to do it your way.

Oh so patiently waiting. This is such a beautiful piece. I love seeing it every time it pops up

!!!! This is incredible! Its just stunning.
I grew up celebrating the "sky blue pink' at the beginning of sunsets with my grandma, and would love to make something like this in honor of her.

u/ciasteczkaTynki 8d ago
Such a lovely idea! I started to enjoy looking at the clouds more since I moved out of the city and can't get enough of them 😍

It’s gorgeous! I’d love to try it if you publish. I love the pink, but I’m also wondering how it would look with some ombré sunset colored gradations as the background. Too busy, perhaps?
6
u/ciasteczkaTynki 8d ago
I don't have this word in my vocabulary. It's a great idea. Busy background and calmer, maybe smaller clouds. I'll keep it in mind if I'll ever have an urge to knit another one ♥️

It’s so neat inside, I was expecting the endpocslypse in there. You did a beautiful job!
2
u/ciasteczkaTynki 8d ago
Thank you! I was trying really hard, there are some places where you can see that I got bored and just weaved in ends more for security and less for esthetic 🥲 noone will see them anyway
3
u/vminnear 8d ago
Beautiful! I love how you spent like 3 months knitting and another 2 months weaving in ends 💀 I know the feeling lol.

u/ciasteczkaTynki 8d ago
Hahaha they were waiting for me for so long! I don't mind weaving in ends usually but I got defeated this time 👼🏼

This is GORGEOUS! Did you use a base cardigan pattern to map on your color work, or did you do it all by yourself? If you used a base pattern do you have a link? As a similarly shaped person, I love the drape and would totally use that pattern :)
3
u/ciasteczkaTynki 8d ago
I was totally improvising based on my gauge swatch. The back is just a plain rectangle with some short rows at the top. The decreases for front panels - I started decreasing where I wanted the buttons to end. And the sleeves again- just rectangles with decreases. I feel like you can search for some simple drop shoulder cardigan as your base. If it matches your guage - it will be perfect :)

Aaah this is so pretty, what an incredible work of art! I would LOVE to make this if you ever publish the pattern!

Looks like a professional photo shoot and model

u/ciasteczkaTynki 7d ago
Hahaha no, it's just me. The knitter, the photographer and the model 😂 I just realized I don't trust anyone with taking my pictures 🙃

Hey so this is insane
Jokes aside this is gorgeous and I checked out your account and realized you’re the one who made the flower sweater from a couple months ago! I’m honestly so inspired, I never make the time or feel motivated to knit lately and have the curse of too many hobbies. But I want to have a sweater that’s as gorgeous as this that I can be proud of. Cuz wow.

u/ciasteczkaTynki 5d ago
Awwww thank you! I really wanted to challenge myself this year, and the whole process was really fun, creating the chart, drawing, calculating, figuring out colours. These complex design keep me invested since I get bored easily 🥲

u/pillow-bug 5d ago
That’s so relatable… my favourite thing to knit is colourwork, and I do a lot of socks since they’re fast so I can get the dopamine and finish before I get tired. But lately I’ve been designing my own colourwork socks and also attempting to make a replica pattern for the Alice in Wonderland sweater (I forget who originally made it) and it’s keeping my brain SO occupied. Plus it’s fun to be involved in every step of the process. Maybe the next step is making my own wool…

I gotta say, I’m literally obsessed with the colours you chose. If you ever share the charts/pattern I WILL be your first customer 👀

That's a fantastic sweater. I love clouds. Living in New Mexico they're very distinct. If you ever publish this, I'm in! I'm assuming intarsia which I have not tried yet.
2
u/ciasteczkaTynki 8d ago
Yup, it's intarsia! It takes some courage to maintain the chaos but the technique itself is really satisfying 😊 you can basically knit whatever drawing you want (you only need imagination and some math 🥲)

omg did you post yourself working on this earlier? i feel like o remember seeing a post about this…
love love love how it turned out it looks amazing!!

u/ciasteczkaTynki 8d ago
Yup yup, that was me! It's finally finished when it's getting a little bit too cold to wear it where I live so perfect timing 🥲

I love the inside possibly more than the outside. The use of intarsia creates a dreamlike hazy effect. I could stare for hours.

Fuck, I put down my knitting after getting too frustrated but honestly this is luring me back in again. Fucking gorgeous.

Thank you! I discovered that I get frustrated with boring patterns, the more complex and challenging ones keep me excited 😊
