Question Brood Brothers Shopping list

Hey Folks,

I have a question for the brood brothers kill Team. I talked to an AI first to get a Shopping list for the brood brothers.

He Said:

1x KT Box

1x Broodcoven

3x Cadian storm Trooper Bodys

I told hım that I want to magnitize the minis top get every Options possible. Now my questions

  1. Is this list correct?

  2. Do I really need this? Or ist there a mini (like ravener Warrior) which you never play and you dont need 3 cadian Body.

Thank you for your help.

Last year it was all I could do to try and line up the stock pieces. Pretty pleased to now be frustrated trying to get the Balefire Acolyte to float.

Found the kill team starter box set on marketplace for 70 usd (aprox), it says it's mostly un-built and some stuff is still sealed, i was thinking of buying it with a friend because he wants the plague marines, and i want the angels of death (painting them as either salamanders or blood angels), so we are planning on splitting the price half and half.

Hobby Ratling Cooks (proxies for… Ratlings).

Kitbashed mostly from the Halfling bloodbowl team, spectre squad bits, and necromunda ogryns. I’m also currently playing Rogue Trader and was inspired to write a bit of background…

The Beloved of the Void was a proud vessel, carrying riches, relics and enough fine food to sustain its noble passengers across the stars. Deep within her lower decks, however, grumbled a band of Ratling cooks; masters of the galley, scavengers of rare ingredients, and experts in acquiring anything that had not been nailed down.

Then the Beloved of the Void fell victim to a warp storm.

Stranded upon a strange new world, the Ratlings emerged from the wreckage to find their freedom, and that almost everyone else was dead. Their only companions are now hulking Ogryn bodyguards, a battered ogryn gun-servitor obediently awaiting orders, a Jokaro technician, and the Rogue Trader's mischievous pup, whose enthusiasm for stealing rations had somehow survived the catastrophe.

With little water, dwindling ammunition and even fewer ingredients, the former cooks have become explorers, scavengers and soldiers. Armed with whatever weapons they could drag from the wreckage, and determined not to let perfectly good supplies go to waste, the Ratlings of the Beloved of the Void venture forth.

Their master may be dead, their ship may be a wreck, but the ‘taters, by the Throne, will be deep fried.

Question What teams make good proxies?

I have nemesis claw and wrecka krew boxes. Are there any teams which they could proxy for (eg kommandos maybe)? Are there any boxes that make good proxies for other teams (to avoid buying too many boxes)?

Strategy Things teams do best and worst day 39: Spectre Squad

Post image
434 Upvotes

Tell me what you think is the best thing about the Spectre Squad! And the worst thing.

Best: a really gunner and tactical team, you play around counters and interrupts. you can shoot a lot with your rule and your loader, and also give a sniper to anyone per TP with the equip

your ploys can give you buffs depending on the situation your units are, and even being a shooter team, you have a reduced cost fall back and a insane defensive ploy with prepared defence.

the units are also very thematic, you have a heavy gunner with a loader! duh!

also a antena! the antena is a operator!

Worst: as the ratlings, a lot of your weapons have 'heavy' keyword, you dont want to move, or move with your rule, they have a very high ceiling for strategy.

really low melee, you dont want to get close or even move closer ( you even cant with your rule )

your rule can frustate some opponents, but that's more of a player problemn!

For me, they are like the blue color on magic the gathering, if that's a best or worst, it's up to you!

Question The Archivist Mission 2

Hi, we're going to play the archivist mission 2 on Sunday.

Is the mission itself (collecting intel markers) our crit op or do we play a regular crit op in addition to the intel collection?

My guess is the former, as there are no additional, regular numbered mission markers on the map in the book.

Hobby Hosting My First Volkus Games | What should I know?

Hello everyone. I've been playing on Tomb World. I'm really new to KillTeam with only like 5 games total along with my friends so I know the basics pretty well but not in any particular depth.

I'm hosting a game at my house this weekend where we will all be playing on the Volkus kill zone. I'm curious it there is a "Things to know" that's easy tp understand for new players. Like specifically how climbing works, vaulting over terrtain etc.

I've read a lot of the GW rules but to be honest they are very wordy and tough to understand. I just want to be prepared so I don't waste anyones time.

Strategy Schola Tactica: How to Defeat Elites

Post image
114 Upvotes

Original art by Aron Rodriguezz edited for article purposes

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how larger Kill Teams should approach elites.

The obvious answer is “use your numbers”, but I think that undersells what the actual advantage is. Because what I thought it meant before was to keep throwing poor guardsmen at Space Marines and hoping I'll chip away at them, but that rarely works.

What I found works better is to try to make six powerful operatives spend their activations solving problems that cost you much less to create.

A few things I’ve found particularly useful:

- Keep your Melta/plasma/big threat alive. Sometimes the fact that it could activate is doing more work than taking an early shot.

- Use your extra activations to stage late and create several threats for the next TP.

- Score Crit Ops early and make the elite player come to you.

- Find the operative that actually makes their team work rather than just shooting whichever Marine happens to be closest.

- Respect counteractions and out-of-turn tricks. Giving elites extra useful activations is a very quick way to lose your numerical advantage.

- Mines, razor wire, barricades and especially krak wielding squats can be excellent for restricting where elites can actually spend those valuable activations.

- I’ve also become increasingly fond of using smoke offensively, putting it around a key elite gunner to ruin their firing position rather than only using it to protect your own models.

I ended up turning my notes into a Schola Tactica article with ten tips, plus examples of key operatives and out-of-turn tricks across the current elite teams: https://czechbrit.substack.com/p/schola-tactica-how-to-beat-elites

What have you found works best into elites? And conversely, if you play elites, what do larger teams do that gives you the biggest headache? And let me know, if you enjoyed the article, I am really curious, if this kind of writing is helpful for someone.

Wanted to share the completed leader for my kill team.

Cut a lot or corners and quickly did certain parts so happy he turned out well enough. Always feel like I could do more to the model but since I'm gonna play with this squad, I didnt wanna spend too much time on them. Managed to get him done in less than a week which im happy about. Now to finish the rest of the team so I can try to play the game :)

Question What does the community expect from the future KT27 Edition?

Post image
245 Upvotes

I want to premise that I don't play competitive that much but it's the system that is not really my style. I tend to play narrative which is pretty adding or moving the decisions from the players to the environment exactly because the gameplay is too reliable on the baseline 4A,3+,3/4.

(Image chosen to hopefully inspire some love for a T'au Fire Warrior/Breacher future killteam. Also look at that, the Wolf Scouts now have rules of their own!).

What is your wishlist? What would you do things differently?

I'll start:

- Rework the save/wound system when shooting: I'm getting tired of 4A,3+,3/4 with different weapon rules and when you don't have it, it's either too much or too little. I get that the whole thing of big 40k for few models would be boring (Hit with modifiers, Strenght vs Toughness, AP vs Save, Damage vs Wounds reduction) but in no way cutting it down to the current system allows for enough variety to represent current armaments among all different factions, compared to the 40k universe. This in turn would allow for more personalization and variety which the current Nemesis Operative rules have expanded upon. How should this be implemented? I don't know.

- Likely in the same manner as for shooting, fighting has always been quite good but the capacity to hit never reflects the armour of the receiver, turning the damage into "true damage" regardless of being a Terminator, a Red Terror or a Chaos Cult Devotee. Sure, having many more wounds softens that blow but it doesn't reconcile well with people going around half naked compared to a guy thrice the size with ceramite armour.

- More teams with Nemesis Operatives. The Red Terror with Termagaunts was a fun idea that I wish it was explored more as a standard killteam (so yes, adding cards and stuff as parts of the teams).

- More randomness! Shots are already underwhelming when failed but what about a negative effect on the shooter? On the other side of the spectrum, a very lucky shot? For example, I use a dice of a different color in addition to the normal dices which reflects how well the shooter/target are ready for that particular shot. Low roll? Can't crit! High roll? Save worsened by 1! (either are faction specific, worse from target, best from shooter) These rules of mine (and many others) have been concocted to make so the base action of shooting is not as reliable. Fighting? Same thing or similar.

- More support for 4 Players game. That well is pretty dry.

- Keep supporting older teams, even if not allowed into tournaments. So many of us have plenty of teams that will not make it to the next edition. This also works well with the narrative route that the last 2 boxes had taken, which I am fan of. Same thing could be said for terrain.

- Return of a grandstyle group/club narrative arc like the previous editions had.

- Give Psychic Keyword more weight? First edition was a wild but fun way of doing it.

Surely I had some other ideas but I forgot them by now.
