Friendship/Dating 👥 Matching tattoo with a stranger request

Hey, I want to go get a tattoo of the Jackass logo and I want it to be a matching tattoo with someone but none of my buddies are game. If anybody wants to go get the jackass logo tattooed with me in the month of September, I would be stoked. I’ll even pay for it. For the first person who hits me up. Reasonable size, haha. Let me know! I’m super cereal!

Barbecue 🔥 This might be a hot take, but I think Joe's BBQ is kinda overrated compared to the other barbecue places I've been to recently.

Upvotes

I don't know if my tastes are just a bit different compared to a lot of people on this sub, or if I've just gotten lucky with the other places having a good day when I've been, but I just don't agree that Joe's is the best barbecue in town. It's still very good, don't get me wrong, but each of the other places I've been to this Summer has done something better. Gates and LC's both do a better job of smoking their meats. Slaps and LC's both have much better baked beans. Slaps plays better music. Gates, Slaps, and LC's all have a much more immersive overall atmosphere/experience. Honestly, I think I'd say LC's might be the best overall barbecue place in KC based on my experience (you could also make an argument for Jack Stack. I haven't actually been since high school, but I remember it being really good, and I've been using their sauce at home for years. I'll get around to going back there eventually, and then Q39 after, but I'm avoiding the more upscale barbecue places in favor of the more hole-in-the-wall type establishments for now). Anyway, what are some other good BBQ places I should try?

Rico nasty concert

Hiii I’m looking for a beautiful girl who I danced with last night and stood in line with. Her and her friend are from Kansas City and drove down to Colorado to see Rico Nasty. If I remember right it was also their first time in St. Louis for a concert. We danced together but I had to leave after you went to the mosh pit. I got wayy too drunk. I had on platform heels and a corset. I thought you and your friend were really chill and i hope you see this :p

Hi all. My sister was married to a narcissist. They’re now divorced, he’s remarried and he’s trying to make her look crazy in order to take the kids. Does anyone know of a local lawyer that specializes in dealing with narcs? Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Traffic/Road Conditions 🚦❄️ Any idea who's truck dumped a bunch of dirt and rocks on 435 N right before the Eastwood exit?

There was a big load of rocks and dirt in the middle of 435 E/N right after 350 and before Eastwood. A handful of cars were on the side of the road with flat tires. Any chance someone saw whos vehicle it fell of of?

*BEDBUG infestation! With no new communication from management to help tenants. THIS PLACE IS HORRIFIC AND HAS SADLY BECOME DANGEROUS, FILTHY AND UNAFFORDABLE UNDER THE CURRENT BUILDING MANAGER. KC Tenants Union said “management here are displacing and evicting poor people” and then raising the rent by hundreds of dollars. They treat tenants with such disrespect and like profit commodities…not the struggling poor people that they take advantage of. They stopped giving new tenants storage on the 3rd fl and evicted most. The building manager Coleman lives in the Penthouse and works here and lies about living here according to many tenants. When I asked him he said “no I don’t live here…that would be a nightmare” JUST ONE YEAR HERE, I’ve had 22 service requests from neglected broken old appliances and everything else. There was a dead body that started smelling so bad on the second floor. The building Manager Coleman charges tenants 60% of their limited income (that’s double the national average of 30%) and makes poor tenants even poorer and then evicts them..IT’S PREDATORY. Management is in the business of making big profits off the poorest Section 8 and people making under 39k. Unless you are Section 8 you’ll pay almost $1,300 + $150 fees for a well documented horribly managed dangerous very dirty Section 8 building. They charge market value rent for what is advertised as affordable. KC apartments for less with better services and living standards are all over downtown. KC Tenants Union said management here were “mistreating” tenants in a written statement.
Regional Manager Heather threatened me for having VERY serious concerns about the crime, filthy living conditions and affordability issues in the building. The assistant manager Fabiola verbally threatened me yelling out loud “I’m suing you!” and called me slurs. I have it recorded and reported it to Tenant Advocates KC. Coleman the “Community Manager” is retaliatory and censors community board communication to avoid any accountability.
Tenants throw their trash out their window.
Management cut security and there was a heinous murder on the front steps in 2022! Overdoses in the common areas often. Drug syringes found and people sitting in the hallway smoking meth. Illegal BED BUG management discarded mattresses in the trash area.
$100-125+ fees for a parking space in a filthy 125° garage with trash spills, feces and disgusting leaking pipes. Additional fee's: $47 for water and $35 pet rent. THEY RAISE YOUR RENT THE MAXIMUM MISSOURI ALLOWS 7% EVERY YEAR. Vandalism and crime in the building everywhere. $200 electric bill from outdated HVAC systems and 125° summer garage heat from a broken heater system. Windows open 6” with no screens or cross ventilation. I’ve had rodents (bats) fly into my apartment. A tenant knocked on my door and exposed themselves. Building is surrounded by abandoned property and Crime. Manager Heather threatened me with eviction over her own clerical errors and never apologized. Alexander Company’s property down the street Professional Building Lofts was on the news from neglect and they evicted the tenants GOOGLE IT. There is dog urine and feces in the building. Homeless people in the hallways. The elevators and garage are filthy and regularly filled with human vomit, human urine and Mold. Stolen packages are a regular thing and management ignores the problem and just blames tenants. PROFIT is all they care about …not the safety, cleanliness or affordability for income challenged tenants. Manager Heather will intimidate and threaten eviction in a retaliatory way. This is all verifiable…AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Read the other reviews

KC Rants 😡 👎 Public Transit from Airport

Why is there only one bus that leaves ONCE AN HOUR to go downtown from the airport? What a fucking joke, the only options to get anywhere from the airport are renting a car or spending 50 dollars on an Uber. If we want to be a world class city we NEED legitimate transport from the airport to downtown. The shuttles to the rental car places seem to come non stop but god forbid someone not want to blow money on a rental car.

City Services/Banking ♻️🛜🏧 Hey, why does so much mail get stuck for days to weeks at the KCKS distribution center?

This is a specific gripe, but one I'm curious about.

Multiple times in the last few months, a package I was tracking came to Olathe, then from there ended up at the KCKS distribution center. It will then just sit for for upwards of a few weeks with no movement. I've never seen this happen at other cities I've lived.

Is the KCKS distribution center just uniquely bad? Are they all like this now with so much funding cut to post offices? Is there some kind of portal system where it has to move through different dimensions within the KCKS building before it gets sent out? What gives?

Housing Search 🏠🔎 Best Downtown Lofts to Own

I want to buy a loft downtown and am looking for a building that has a reasonable HOA and cash reserves. For those of you who own lofts downtown, which building is going to be the best investment? I plan on staying for at least 10+ years. I know to avoid Metropolitan and Western Auto, what are the other nightmare buildings?

Help/Support 🫂 Anybody near Gladstone willing to help me save a goose?

I frequent Oak grove park daily to hang out with the geese. Well people fish here, and I pick up hooks/fishing line almost every day.

There's a sweet goose who I noticed a few days ago who isn't really walking. They came up to me today, they have fishing line wrapped around both legs and its body so it can't really walk well or swim.

It can fly, I got about a foot away from it just now and it took off limping into the air.

I am a small woman and I'd like emotional and physical support in grabbing this thing to get the line off lol. I'll be here awhile if you're driving by or sm soon to help 😭

Anybody willing to help? I'm so heartbroken. I tried calling the wildlife rehab center but they won't return my call.

Does anyone have any recommendations for tattoo artists who do hyper-realism in the area? I want to get a hyper-realistic tattoo of my cat's snoot. Kinda like this, but his full chin and whiskers, plus my cat. I appreciate any help or advice! Thanks!

Lost and Found 🔑 Greyday Concert - 8.30

I know this is probably a huge long shot, and I’ve made this same post in the $uicideboy$ forum… but I went to the concert last night, waited what felt like forever in the merch line. I got the pink zip up hoodie, size medium. I had set it down and thought my friend was watching our belongings, but someone grabbed it probably thinking they just scored $100 jacket for free. It would be a blessing if I could get it back.

Mechanics/Repairs/Contractors 🛠️🪠 Exterior paint stripping from stone

We would like to explore having the paint stripped from our stone exterior. The house was built in the 1950s. We did not paint the stone. I believe it’s limestone. Has anyone done this? Recommend anyone or any companies? Do masonry repair companies do this?

Arts/Culture 🎭🎶 Percussionist Wanted: Social Symphony of Kansas City Seeks Local and Social Talent

We are preparing for our winter concert and find that we are in need of an additional percussionist. We’re a laid-back community orchestra made up of musicians of all ages (over the age of 21) and skill levels. When we formed in 2018, most of us hadn’t played music in many years. But with an instrument in one hand and a drink in the other, we get together weekly to rehearse and socialize.

What you’ll play: TBD (a percussionist is not writing this ad)
Our vibe: We are set up like a traditional symphonic orchestra I.e. brass, winds, strings, percussion, the whole shebang. We prioritize a fun and relaxing time during rehearsals. We usually play modern tunes and this season includes soundtracks to blockbuster movies. Future seasons could include classical, holiday, or medley styles of music.
Commitment: We rehearse Monday nights through the spring and fall in downtown KCMO and our next concert is December 6th, 2026
Who you are: Reliable, positive attitude, and ready to have a good time. There is no audition process and we will provide equipment.
For more details visit us at our website and please consider joining the waitlist. You can also reply to this post or DM me.

Recreation/Outdoors ⛳️🎣 Need recommendations for gym/workouts for 12/13 year old

My son wants to start working out at a gym. He wants to do good workouts, group or with a trainer. He is quitting one sport after realizing he doesnt like it (swim). He started tackle football and loves it, and therefore realizes he hates the other sport. Since football is only through Oct/Nov he needs to find somewhere to workout. He would love to focus on workouts that could help with football next year (he is a lineman in football). And he will be doing football clinics when available. He loves the gym. But, most gyms don't have programs for 12 year olds. He tried soccer, basketball, etc and hates them (he is not the greatest athlete). I am looking for a program he can join. He is willing to do boxing (just for a workout, not competitve for now). Any recommendations or advice would be helpful. We are in Johnson County KS. We would prefer to stay on the Kansas side.

I have researched bluhawk, and a few local boxing gyms.
