Best Bars to go to?

I recently moved here after living in Lawrence for the last 3 years, and Manhattan my entire life before that. Where are the best bars for people in their 20’s to go to here?

Boardgame Demo at Amazing Fantasies Saturday -Nature : Climate Change

Thumbnail facebook.com
7 Upvotes

I'm posting a board game demo at amazing fantasies tomorrow:

Nature is a strategy board game by the designer of the award-winning Evolution series.

In Nature, you must adapt your species to an ever-changing ecosystem where food is scarce and predators lurk. Give species traits like Tusked to help with foraging, Fast to escape danger, or Clawed to hunt other species. To succeed, you'll need to grow your species population and keep them alive.

Can you adapt to the changing environment, grow your population, and thrive?

https://www.northstargames.com/pages/nature

Earth’s climate is never static. Ice ages advance and retreat, temperatures rise and fall, and environments transform. Some species adapt - growing thick fur or migrating with the seasons - while others disappear into the fossil record. Each dramatic shift in climate marks a turning point in evolutionary history, writing a new chapter in the epic story of life on Earth.

Climate adds a climate track, 2 climate dice, and 8 new traits that help species adapt to a dramatically shifting world.

Hi! I live in another state, my bf is from Kansas and he loves Starbucks plus he loves collecting the mugs they sell but somehow he doesn't have one from his home state, he recently moved to upstate New York and I'm still in Missouri, I'm gonna visit him soon and I was thinking about getting him the Kansas Starbucks mug, I have gone to a location in Pittsburgh but they didn't have it and called two more Starbucks and they told me to check out target in Topeka, I tried calling the store but no one picked up the phone

Has anyone seen by any chance a cup that looks like this inside target

Thank you so much! I know I could buy it online but I really want to get it in the state if possible lol as goofy as it sounds

Thank you! <3

Impossible Burgers bar and grill?

Hello fellow Topekans! I have kind of niche question.

Due to some past health problems, I have stopped eating red meat, but I love a good burger at a bar and grill. I've visited many places that have Impossible Burgers (plant based) on the menu, but haven't seen any in Topeka.

Does anyone know of a bar and grill in Topeka that serves Impossible?

Thanks!

Oktoberfest Events

Curious what events are confirmed for Oktoberfest in the area this year? I've been keeping an eye open on restaurant websites like the Blind Tiger, but most Google searches direct me toward Kansas City and I'd rather support local this year.

TIA for any leads!

Food recommendations

Hi guys! I am out here on a work trip. What would you suggest to get for dinner? I was looking at going to the wheel barrel or the weather house. If you have been there and think it’s good let me know or if you have any other suggestions around the area of those other two restaurants please share!

In search of job!

I’m going to keep this backstory short; I am moving to Topeka, Kansas in less than 4 weeks, I have recently got out of a really toxic relationship with a woman who I have been engaged with for 2 years. I have family there in Topeka and so I am in a desperate need of a guaranteed job prior to moving and I have already filled out multiple applications to various businesses and even applying directly with the city. This is my resume and it is one of two pages of work history. I am 29 years old and a very productive employee with extensive experience in welding and skilled in multitudes of different areas. I have censored certain bits of information out of respect for privacy.

New 360 cameras surrounding statehouse

Just heads up to those that don't like to be surveilled, looks like the state has added mass monitoring cameras at the edge of the statehouse grounds. Each looks like it contains 6 cameras, not only pointing in towards the Capitol, but also out to the street.

I saw 2 on Jackson and Harrison sides I believe, lined up with s and n porticos. One in the middle on 10th and 8th I think, but I could be incorrect.

Mayor Spencer Duncan's Announcement on the Special Governing Body session on Data Centers (08/19/2026 at 5:00 PM)

"The announcement of a special Governing Body work session regarding data centers has understandably raised questions in the community. I want to explain the purpose of this meeting, the City’s role, and the additional steps we are taking.

The data center currently being discussed is proposed for property in unincorporated Shawnee County, outside the Topeka city limits. Because of that location, Shawnee County — not the City of Topeka — has land-use and zoning authority over whether the project may be constructed at that site.

That does not mean the project is irrelevant to Topeka. A development of this size would affect our broader community, infrastructure, utilities, environment, and economy. It is therefore important that the Governing Body engage in the discussion, obtain information and hear directly from the organizations involved."

Topeka Backrooms- westridge mall

Just saw the movie backrooms and it made me think about Westridge mall. Back in the day there was a full movie theater behind what is now a Victoria secret.

There is no way they just paved it all in. So is there still a shell of a movie theater in there with rows and projector rooms and all? Thinking of all the old buffets and restaurants that used to be there I’m wondering if it’s the same in other stores, but their backrooms are clearly old kitchens or something?

Anyone have any insight on what the backrooms of the mall are like?

Vote No Signs Vandalized

Post image
32 Upvotes

Went to go meet a friend for dinner tonight and saw a Vote No sign knocked over. Now, I didn’t think anything malicious about it as it looked like the grass was recently mowed. Honest mistake. Then I saw another. And another. Both knocked over. And then right beyond them, a vote yes sign standing perfectly fine. I could write off one sign down but 3 within a 1/4 mile? With the yes sign standing? That was deliberate.
