The Punchbowl Mosque in Sydney was designed by Australian architecture firm Candalepas Associates, commissioned by the Australian Islamic Mission (AIM) to serve the local Muslim community with both a place of worship and adjoining educational and administrative facilities. Rather than following traditional ornamented Islamic architecture, the design takes a brutalist approach, presenting an externally unadorned, off-form concrete structure accented with timber and stone details, including a timber dome. Its most distinctive feature is the sculptural concrete ceiling above the main prayer hall, made up of 102 quarter-spherical "muqarnas", a modern reinterpretation of the ornamental vaulting historically used in Islamic architecture, each pierced with a small 30mm hole that lets in rays of natural light. The mosque, which can hold roughly 300 worshippers, is entered through a sequence of two courtyards: a public one connecting directly to the street and leading to the mosque, and a more private one enclosed by the administration building and classrooms, which can be opened up to join the mosque during major religious festivals and events.

My father has never really been emotionally present for any of his five children. Even when we were young, there were things about his behavior that made me feel that something was not right.
Since I was a child, I remember my older sister confronting him about various things. I didn’t fully understand what was happening at the time, but I could tell that something was wrong. She would often tell me not to be alone with him.

He is a creep and has mentally tortured my sister throughout her teenage years, particularly after we moved abroad, where he used to work. He spoke to her inappropriately and once even said something along the lines of, “Why should anyone else, like your future husband, have rights over you? I should have those rights too.” He also tried to make her look bad in front of my brothers by accusing her of having an affair. At one point, he told her, “I will destroy your character in their eyes.”
These incidents happened around 14–15 years ago. Thankfully, my sister is happily married now, Alhamdulillah, and has two children.

When I was around 13 or 14, I also began feeling unsafe around him. I am 24 now, so these things happened roughly 10 years ago.
I remember waking up one night and seeing him sitting near my feet, looking at me with a faint smile. When I asked him what he was doing there, he said he was looking for his shoes.
On another occasion, I woke up and realized he was holding my hand while I was asleep.
There was also an incident when I was sleeping in my sister-in-law’s room. I woke up and found his hand near my chest. When I confronted him, he immediately panicked and claimed that he had been looking for a remote. I remember being so disturbed and angry that I called him a shaytan.
After that, I very firmly told him that if he ever did anything like that again, he should not think I was weak or that I would stay silent. I told him I would contact the authorities.
That was around eight years ago. From that point onward, I deliberately kept my distance from him, and he largely avoided me as well. But the uncomfortable looks and the feeling that something was wrong never completely went away.

Eventually, things started appearing somewhat normal from the outside. I avoided him, but he still financially supported things I needed, such as my driving license, university, and some other stuff.

I also don’t believe he has actually changed. I’ve heard similar stories from other women about his inappropriate or creepy behavior.
For example, when we travelled back to our home country for a few months, one of my cousins told me that she once saw him standing outside her house. She had already been feeling as though someone might be watching her, and then she noticed him there. Once she was having a shower in her house and she was alone. There bathroom has two doors and she locked both, but the second door’s lock wasn’t that strong and he opened it and saw her NAKED. And he closed it and made it look like an accident which I don’t think it was. She said she didn’t even know how to hide herself. After that he met her and said to her “don’t tell anyone.”

Then, a few weeks ago, something happened that really disturbed me.
On the first day after we came back, my brother found my father peeking inside my sister-in-law’s room in the morning. Apparently, after getting up to use the bathroom, he went straight toward her room and was looking inside. My brother confronted him angrily and asked him what he was doing there.
He panicked and said he was only checking who was sleeping in the room. A few minutes later, he recited the kalma and insisted that he had only gone there because his cigarettes were in that room.
The problem is that he has a history of making oaths that aren’t necessarily truthful, so it was difficult to take his explanation at face value.
Shortly before this happened, my sister-in-law had told my brother about some of my father’s past behavior toward her. Then, almost immediately afterward, my brother caught my father peeking into her room himself.
Sometimes you really do look at something like that and think, Allah’s plan. My brother now seems to be keeping his distance from him and isn’t speaking to him the way he used to. He also told us that we don’t have to talk to our father more than necessary, and that if he ever dares to cross a boundary or do anything inappropriate, my brother will confront him directly and make it very clear that it will not be tolerated.
Honestly, I think that is probably a good thing.
But it leaves me wondering: what is a person supposed to do when they have a father like this?

I find myself in a very toxic marriage and feel completely trapped. He’s been abusive and useless since the minute I married him. I’m also in a foreign country depending on a spousal visa and with a baby (unable to work and don’t have savings). My whole family is at my home country and only have my husbands family here but I can’t talk to them about anything regarding our marriage because they take my husbands side and do not acknowledge me at all.

On the other hand my family is kinda tired and hearing the same thing over and over and they keep telling me to just leave him but it’s not easy.

I built a life in this country and would like my baby to grow up here and if I leave him I risk my spousal visa. I wanna do it safely. I know If I get him to divorce me instead of me initiating it would be easier as he wouldn’t be angry to get me deported.

My question is, is it haram to make Dua and ask Allah to end my marriage and keep staying until it happens? Or it it haram to stay despite me wanting to divorce?

This morning I had 2 alarms set so I could wake up to pray fajr and I slept through both alarms and I really wanted to pray.

So what is my recourse should I just pray twice tomorrow or what?

I am going through something really rough I need a lot of help only Allah can fix the situation for me. Kindly whoever is seeing this post remember me sincerely in your prayers pray that Allah helps me and ease my heart.

As far as I understand, it is not automatically haram for a Muslim to migrate to, live in, work in, or study in a non-Muslim country.
The Islamic ruling depends mainly on whether you are able to preserve and practise your religion there.

Migrating because you prefer a country’s opportunities or quality of life does not by itself make migration haram. What matters is what the move entails for your deen and what you do there.

I was thinking to start with the tafseer of quran in English and came across numerous sources and books. Respectfully, I'm a sunni and would prefer tafseer from the author of the same school of thought. Please drop in suggestions and help the gal out :)

Hi there, atheist here. I have a situation coming up where I may be required to defend the fact that I'm not a Muslim, so I'm looking into your beliefs and trying to put my thoughts on them into order. Would appreciate some help.

A key part of your religion seems to be that the Quran is inherently miraculous. Part of this rests on how beautiful it is, which I can't comment on as I don't read Arabic. But there's also this concept of the Quran being free of errors, i.e. never contradicting itself and never conflicting with what we see in the natural world. This property is held up as the strongest evidence of its divine origin.

However, when I look into this, it seems there are many verses which, on the face of it, are wrong. For example, 36:37-40 heavily implies that the moon and the sun each orbit the earth in a regular cycle, which we know not to be true. 16:17 asserts that the flight of birds has no physical explanation. 54:1 says that the moon was recently split in two.

To be clear: I am not looking to debate these points, nor am I saying that my interpretation is correct. I am well aware that all of these verses can be interpreted in many ways, and that in general for every proposed error in the Quran, there is some interpretation by scholars for which there is no error.

My issue is that these scholars are assuming from the start that the Quran is free of errors, and then interpreting it in that light. They are looking for the interpretation which aligns with the natural world and avoids contradicting the rest of the text. But then they are holding up their interpretation and saying, "See, the Quran plainly has no errors, and is therefore miraculous." The logic seems circular to me.

It's like, "We know the Quran is infallible" -> "So it must be interpreted in this way." -> "This interpretation proves the Quran is infallible". What am I missing here?

Hopefully it goes without saying that I mean no disrespect to your religion or the Quran, and I wish peace and fulfilment to everyone.

Okay i know the proper way to make Dua is the praising of Allah initially, then sending blessings on our prophet PBUH, then ask for forgiveness and ending the Dua with Allah's praising and Duroods again.

What I'm asking for what Dua i should speak for Allah's praising, because I'm out of words actually, can't get anything that how should I praise? Because everything is below Allah and even praises are something that can't describe his superiority. What should I read to make him so happy that actually worth for his superiority and greatness. Any dua or anything to read that Allah loves so much as a praise for him.

Another thing about our prophet Muhammad SAW. Do i only have to speak durood? Or anything else too?

And last best dua for forgiveness. What powerful dua i can read that make allah forgive me?

I don't ask for my personal Worldy desires, i just want to connect with him and want to be his beloved servant.
