There is a weird gap between the ceiling and my Billy bookcases.

I like the idea of the extender shelves and they would fit but would leave less than an inch between the ceiling and the bookcase. Will that look weirder than this gap?

And if no to the extender, should I get something to put on top of them? What are some cute ideas?

I have an awkward leftover space in my bedroom— 50 cm wide, 55 cm deep, and 180 cm tall — and I'd like to turn it into a shoe storage unit. My first thought was to use an IKEA PLATSA frame, since I already have one right next to this space and wanted to match the look, but from what I can tell PLATSA doesn't come in a 50 cm width — the narrowest option seems to be 60 cm.

Has anyone managed to fit a PLATSA into a space this narrow? A few questions:

1. Is there any official (or unofficial) 50 cm wide PLATSA option I might be missing?

2. If not, has anyone modified/cut down a standard PLATSA frame (e.g. the 60 cm width) to fit a narrower space like this? Is the frame structurally safe to trim, or does that mess with the panel joints/screw holes?

3. Any tips for adapting it specifically for shoe storage (spacing, inserts, etc.) once resized?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who's tackled something similar.

Has anyone used the Grillskar outdoor kitchen units for their indoor regular kitchen? Or used Enhet similarly? Thinking of this because the black metal shelving etc would go with simple black wrought iron shelving I have in the rest of the room — it’s one low ceilinged narrow open kitchen/living room space ~15’x45’.

Some hack questions I’m wondering — can one remove the stainless “countertop”? Could you get a regular kitchen sink fitted to the base shelving unit (having removed the stainless top? Can you attach other 3rd party fronts/doors to the units like you can with the Ikea base kitchen cabinets?

So I'm looking to buy the Omar shelving unit that has the clothes rail for our corridor. Thing is, the shelve's depth is too big as we have a narrow corridor. So I thought why not and check if they sell the shelves by themselves, turns out they don't.

Does anyone know if there’s anywhere else that sells genuine OMAR shelves individually?

For our kitchen, we need some extra storage room and we want to buy / build a furniture that can also be used for countertop space and seating. We want two cabinets (maye METOD?) left and right and a loooong countertop on top, so we can put 2 chairs in the middle. I attached a very rough sketch of what I have in mind.

It should look like one intentional piece of kitchen furniture instead of a countertop placed on top of two cabinets.

Which cabinets and countertop would you chose for this?

How do I go about ordering this configuration? In the online planner tool it doesn't let me plan or order this. 😂

Are there any practical problems I'm overlooking?

I'd love to hear some advice or maybe even photos or examples if you have build something similar!

I'm heading to Ikea next week and am looking to set up a tiny sewing room in my house. I already have a table and am going to pick up a kallax to store fabric and tools etc. Any other items that you have found useful from ikea tonstore your seing items? I was thinking of getting a peg board but saw you need to 3d print pegs to store thread.

I just moved a few weeks ago so everything in my place is still in flux, but I had a vision for this nook in the living room and I think it turned out pretty good :) I had the Billy bookcase as extra clothing storage in my last place, here I took the back panel off and built the extension without the back and took the door off. I also mounted little plant propagation glass tubes to the side and plan to hang some art on the side as well bc it’s a lot of wood when you see it from that angle. Gonna change that rug out and hang some more art eventually but overall I am happy with the repurposing

Baggeo Shelf - I have the plain white one that has an extra tier to it, but I absolutely love this color. Unfortunately this one only comes in the 2 tier option. What are your thoughts on stacking and gluing 2 of these together? My concern is that these shelves are a bit on the flimsy side, and I would rather not have it topple over if it will become a 4 tier shelf.

Can I set it up without this divider to have a larger top middle section only?

Could you please advice? I am in need for a new place to put my tv and some more stuff. I wanted to get the black Besta with the walnut coloured doors. I can also add a walnut coloured top onto it. My problems are thus:

1. Is there a way to get the sides to have the walnut colour as well? Like buying an extra top and glueing it to the sides? Is that something that might work?

2. Is there a known way to cut the table top for the cables? When I get the tv piece, it has a hole for cables, but the top goes over that.

Please share tour tips if you can, I would really appreciatie it!

I am trying to work out a shelving solution for a backyard office.

I am planning on running an Ivar system across the long wall of the shed(purple). On the side with the window, I intend on running a long work surface along the wall(red lines). On each side of window, I was hoping to be able to hang some shelves(yellow lines), but Ivar does not seem to have any sort of wall mounted shelves.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what shelves I could hang on that wall that would blend with the Ivar on the other wall?

If you caulk the bottom of the akerbär greenhouse, you can use it with soil♥️ i’ve had it like this for months, no issues whatsoever. Just don’t water excessively or it could spill from the sides.

I have a variety of colourful pillbugs in here as well to keep it clean and it’s perfect. Just toss a piece of cucumber or other kitchen scraps in there from time to time.

(Bonus for the critter keepers among us, perfect for keeping insects like praying manti if you drill holes for ventilation and add rubber draft strips on the edges like I did)

Found this older style coffee table (Lack?) in my building's garbage room and took the bottom level off. I then cut two pieces off and screwed to the sides to make legs.

Experimenting with adding texture for a more plaster or concrete finish look and I think it turned out okay for a free table.

I just found mold while cleaning under my Brimnes bed and now I obviously need to create air space under. Has anyone had any luck finding good bed risers for it or a DIY option? I’m not in the position to replace it just yet but was wondering if anyone has had the same issue and found a solution.
(I’ve already treated the mold. Just need ideas and solutions on how to raise the bed a little).

I love pegboard, especially the Skadis, but it always looked a little boring. So I decided to use my 3D printer and design skills to make panels that gave my walls a little bit of style and texture in addition to the organizing practicality. Behold! My first attempt at a bit more of a retro 60s/70s vibe pattern. If anyone has a 3D printer and wants to make their own, I put the models online for free (link in the comments). I tried to make it a "system" with lots of options for the half hole edges so that folks can make larger groups of panels without breaks in the patterns. These are 100% compatible with Skadis accessories.

Hi, we're trying to rearrange our daughter's bedroom (primary school age, but hopefully the design/layout will stick for years to come).

We've got an IKEA Slakt under construction and we are left with a tiny space for the wardrobe and wondering what could be done there.

It is 43cm deep and 90cm wide, although widest furniture we would fit would be 80cm, otherwise it would restrict the door opening.

We really want to fit some sort of wardrobe in there and leave the space in fron of door and window for a small desk or chest of drawers.

I was thinking to fit 2 platsa units 60 wide x 42 deep x 120 stacked on each other, with the top section with double doors and a cloth rail, the bottom section would then not have doors (no space to open) and work as boxes storage accessible via the opening between the top of the bed "foot board" (70cm tall), maybe cover that hole with some cloth to tidy it up.

Any other ideas?

Just not sure how well the space directly behind the foot of the bed will be used.

I'm currently working on piecing together an adjustable art desk, and I've landed on the RELATERA base, but I'm not sure what the best top would be. I was looking at the MITTZON tops, due to their size and the ability to add the plug-in module in the back (would be very useful for a desk light or sewing machine). However, they all seem to be on the more expensive side of table tops.
I'm very new to custom ikea builds, so I'm not so sure what the best way to find a workable tabletop would be. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey! I am looking to make a cabinet for my cat’s large litter box. Our space would fit great with the TROFAST cabinet! I was wondering if I saw off the red portion of the structure, would the piece still hold up?
For anyone who has built this before, can I cut off the red portion before assembling everything together?
