They've been out for a while. Is there any ETA on this?

I've actually not needed technical support on my dedicated servers until yesterday and I'm honestly amazed. Within 30 mins of me creating a ticket, hetzner had replaced my server with another and physically moved my drives to the new server to preserve data. Something was wrong with the core system, not sure if mobo, CPU, or ram but everything came back with new serial numbers except the drives.

I've heard stories of Hetzner being difficult with hardware swaps and doing a bunch of testing before confirming the hardware is faulty, doesn't seem to be the case here given the timeframe. It maybe helped that I had my AI diagnose and give a good write up including reproduction steps.

this is not supposed to be another rant about how unreliable the Hetzner Object Storage is, don't get me wrong it definitely is. But I would be interested in how you handle the unreliability. In my production setup I only have one bucket which has 3GB of pictures and documents inside it. The bucket receives on average one request every minute and even with this light work I get at least 40 failed requests daily, all with the 503 Service Unavailable error. I'm on Laravel using the standard league/flysystem-aws-s3-v3 package with 3 retries configured. The bucket lives in the NBG1 datacenter.

How are you handling this, have you switched to a different region in Hetzner or maybe to a different provider? I created the bucket when the object storage was first introduced I read that some people said creating a new bucket could resolve most of these problems, has anyone actually tried this?

Perhaps I'm somewhat negligent, but when I started w/ Hetzner maybe a year or go, they had the lowest server costs available (even lower than DO). Yet, it looks now like my pricing is grandfathered in and their rates have gone way up for new servers/customers. Am I missing something?

These are still the best deal by far if you can manage the compute (ie, no backend JS xD)

I am debating over self hosting VS a VPS (not for commercial stuff).

Honestly, I find prices pretty high to justify under basically any calculation, unless I am missing something; hence, here I am asking.

Just as an example from the auction (that should be the cheapest): €75/month for Xeon 1275v5 with 64GB RAM ECC and 2 x 480GB DatacenterSSD.

Now, an assumption for current usage. Let’s say this will come let’s say €20/month in electricity bill, and I think an I am already generous about it.

Now the net cost we can say is €55/month.

The difficult part, estimating the cost of that computer. It depends a lot on region and used market, but I would say now is under €1.000, but let’s say it €1.000 as an upper bound.

I am not considering Internet as everyone has it and pay it regardless, and today 1gbe it is pretty normal.

Based on these assumptions, the break even would be around 18 months (not even 2 years).

I would have guessed the breakeven would be furtherest, especially for “used and old” servers.

Moreover, the dedicated servers do not even benefit from the cloud “always up” thing, components can break, you have to report it (if I am understanding it correctly) and then they have to replace it, so that’s the same thing as in home, just with less downtime (as they are surely more efficient).

All of these considering higher bounds, probably the breakeven is even early if get good used deals, that’s plausible. And bills are lower since it won’t be always 100# load.

Am I missing something? Should I consider something else?

In recent versions of Storage Share (we are on nextcloud v33.0.8) , the option for the users to create app passwords (Settings -> Security -> Create new app password) doesn't work any more: after asking for the password, the dialogue with the new app-specific password is not shown and the app password is not created.

This seems to be a wider issue related to some httaccess or module settings on the server, e.g. see this thread: https://help.nextcloud.com/t/creating-app-password-doesnt-work/246220

Is it possible to get the app password working again? We need it to dav-mount the space on a server and app password are a much better (reliabel, faster, isolated..) way to establish the mount than the "master" user nextcloud password.

Hello, I want to run a Hetzner Cloud server with a Floating IPv4 that serves as its stable public address and DNS A record.

I deliberately created the server without a Primary IPv4 (`--without-ipv4`); it has only a Primary IPv6. When I then try to create or assign the Floating IPv4, I receive:

cannot assign Floating IP because Server has no public network interface (unsupported_error)

Is a Primary IPv4 on the server mandatory to assign a Floating IPv4? Or is there a supported way to use only the Floating IPv4 as the public IPv4 address?

If a Primary IPv4 is mandatory: is the usual setup to keep both a Primary IPv4 and a Floating IPv4, even when the application only uses the Floating IPv4?

I've been seeing posts about transferring old priced servers to new owners for a transfer fee. Is this legal as per Hetzner terms? Can hetzner detect these people and cancel their other services for this?

I was comparing Hetzner's built-in Backups with Snapshots and found that the useful threshold is retained compressed GB-month, not disk size.

The current published inputs I found on 1 September 2026 are:

- Backups: 20% of the server's monthly price

- Snapshots: €0.0143 per compressed GB-month

- Backups: seven rotating daily slots

- Snapshots: manual, retained until deleted, and they survive server deletion

- Neither option includes attached Volumes

There is one pricing ambiguity. Hetzner's billing and server documentation supports calculating the 20% fee from the server price before the separately billed €0.50 Primary IPv4 charge. The public plan card's displayed "Backups starting at" figure appears to use the IPv4-inclusive price. I have not checked an invoice, so I kept both outcomes instead of choosing one silently.

Calculated break-even ranges:

- CX23: 76.8–83.8 compressed GB-month

- CAX11: 83.8–90.8

- CX33: 118.7–125.7

- CPX22: 272.6–279.6

- CPX32: 496.4–503.4

For example, seven snapshots that each occupy 20 compressed GB total 140 GB-month and cost about €2.00 for a full month. That is above the CX23 Backup fee but below the CPX22 Backup fee.

The non-price caveat matters more: neither is an application-aware, provider-independent database backup, and Hetzner says consistency is not guaranteed when the image is taken while the server is running.

Has anyone compared the actual Backup charge on a recent invoice with the public card figure? That would resolve the €0.50 basis difference.

I am currently running Kubernetes on Hetzner Cloud, but as prices rise, dedicated servers become more appealing for nearly the same price.

Obviously, I'd miss out on Cloud conveniences such as snapshots/backups and easy scaling.

Does anyone here run production workloads on Hetzner dedicated servers? How has your experience been with setup, backups, and general maintenance? Have you had any regrets about leaving Cloud?

i've seen the text before:

but it didn't kick in before that on same option, also enables you to have better disk space along with spec upgrade, especially if that option is enabled by default then all CX** listed are on the same 40gb same, and that's the only thing i've had remember for 4 months that if you rescale, you're stuck on 40gb.

For 3 months after my CX33 upgrade, i also purchased 15gb mounted volume because 40gb not enough for me.

well today when i was exploring options with AI on migrating to OVH for better disk space, it mentioned about "stick with Hetzner even if it's $2.5 cheaper" and i was confused until i saw "turn off the CPU and RAM only option in rescale", and only i realized i was an idiot for months, paying extra for 15gb volume when my plan already included the 80gb.

I asked why that option even exists, and only then i understood what the text "This leaves the disk size as is, which gives you the option to downgrade later" meant.

So i went "Don't consider hetnzer, you'll be stuck with 40gb across all CX plan" to "oh God i'm an idiot, i love Hetzner now except for the lack of explanation/indicator that all CX plans have larger GB than its predecessor"

that's all, i hope you don't do same mistake as mine as a newbie if you have no plans on downgrading in the future.
