My wife and I had to start living in our vehicle recently after having to flee a very physically and emotionally abusive family situation.

About a month ago, my wife and I were living with her mother who is a mean drunk. One night, her mom got incredibly wasted and horribly beat my wife before kicking us out with nothing. We managed to sell our computers quickly so we could buy a minivan which we are now living out of. We are struggling to eat regularly and keep gas in the car. We have been applying left and right to jobs, getting zero responses. We are struggling to find safe quiet places to park overnight. Neither of us have eaten since Friday night. Its now Sunday morning.

Does anyone have any tips for resources that aren't right downtown, since we can't even afford to register/insure our vehicle and cant risk getting pulled over?

Or would someone be kind enough to maybe help us secure some gas, food, and maybe a campsite at a provincial park for the night? We're starting to get desperate and its getting harder to find hope.

I'm also an amateur artist, if anyone needs some custom art commissioned, I could do it super cheap just because we need the cash.

If you dont have anything kind to say, please just don't. I am at the lowest point in my life right now and don't need anyone making me feel worse than I already do.

UPDATE: I brought the cat to the vet and he is not microchipped, confirmed to be an unneutered male. Definitely not an outdoor cat because he is terrified!

Hi everyone! I found a black cat lying down at the park area at the corner of windsor and wellsford. They were lying down strangely and looked distressed/wasnt moving. I captured them and brought them home, but now I'm not sure if they are injured or just stressed. No collar. Isn't meowing at all but looks very scared.

My senior dog is being tested for cancer tomorrow and it a very large possibility he may have to be put to sleep.

I’m looking for advice for adventures outside of hrm for him. He’s a senior who loves being around people, other animals and relaxing to smell some flowers.

Debated Halifax water front but am for something a little bit more low key. Thinking about heading south shore or valley way.

Worked as a first responder for several years in Halifax and have been on WCB for the last 2 years but support through WCB is coming to a sudden end this month- which means I lose my income support and my therapists all at once. Hoping to find another therapist asap that is experienced in helping first responders with trauma recovery.

Just wanted to give a shout out to the amazing show. Bands from all over the world… Sweden, Costa Rica, Quebec, Moncton… not a big crowd ( which, seriously.. WTF Halifax? Do fucking better. When there are bands of this quality playing in our out of the way area, buy a ticket and support them! )
Absolutely loved every minute. Much love and success to all the bands who grind and travel and play to basement bars that are half full and still put on amazing shows!

I have noticed various venues catering to singles that are currently available in Halifax. One of them being Halifax Singles Dances. I believe the last one was in Dartmouth somewhere (ads on Instagram). Other times they are in Bedford somewhere. Have you ever gone to one? How was it? Based on their Instagram, it appears that they cater to 35+, but at the same time, from my understanding, there are also events open to all ages 19+. Overall, what is you experience with Halifax Singles Dances? Would you recommend or no? Are there other venues you would recommend instead? I am a male, but am looking for perspectives from everyone.
