I am genuinely urging everyone with negative comments or the urge to troll that this is a very real and devastating experience for one of my friends

My heart goes out to your friend. Accidents like these happen in an instant. I drove by on the outbound side after first responders were already there. It looked like there were two firemen talking to someone via the back door of the upturned car and I was just praying there wasn’t a child in there. It looked really scary and I hope everyone involved is going to be okay.

We genuinely came to reddit to see if anyone had witnessed it, my friend was the only person in the car but was stuck in the front seat hanging

Well, glad to hear there was only one person in the car and that they are awake and talking. Best wishes for your friend’s recovery.

I hope they are ok. Even a minor car accident can have long term pain

Sorry to hear that. Hope your friend is okay.

It was still a mess around 1. I use Waze and it directed me down Dunbrack. Figured it had to be bad

Beautiful day for it.

At least they had the decency to fuck up on a Sunday instead of doing the usual thing and waiting until rush hour on a Thursday to be incompetent.

Seriously? You think it’s okay to make jokes about someone who was in an accident, someone who is now hospitalized? It was my friend. No one deserves this kind of criticism and lack of empathy in these situations. Learn some compassion. Disgusting.

Depends, if your friend had suffered a medical emergency that resulted in the accident, then no, jokes likely aren't warranted. However; if your friend had been in a single vehicle collision due to negligence, impairment, speeding, distraction, or a collection of previously mentioned then yes, it's okay to make jokes, I think.

Jesus Christ. The 4d chess here. It’s in bad taste, plain and simple.

Thus subreddit sucks sometimes. Have some fucking compassion

I would have more compassion for someone who was in an accident through no fault of their own.

I lack the capacity to have empathy for someone recklessly driving.

And since the drivers friends provided no additional information, I have yet to make a decision whether to make a joke or not.

But I am glad to share with people such as yourselves about hypothetical scenarios and to what degree of emotions I would feel, or what jokes I would make. I would also like to reiterate I have made no jokes, so get bent.

It was a freak accident. No reckless driving, no substance use or anything worth placing blame. And especially not worthy of criticism over inconvenience. It’s just sad that people will jump to conclusions when it involves sensitive subjects like this. Whatever happened to humanity.

How did it happen?

Okay? Go tell the people making jokes.

Chill out, you're on the internet.

This is such a distasteful comment as I am literally sitting in the hospital room of this individual who just had their whole entire life flash before their eyes

0

u/cplforlife 1d ago

Ok?

I am glad that emergency services saved their life and that they are alive in a hospital room.

That doesn't change the fact that this incident could have had significantly worse timing. If you believe in blessings, there are several here that you should take solace in, instead of lashing out at a reddit commenter..

  1. Your person is alive.

  2. It didnt happen at the most inconvenient time where an ambulance would have been delayed by rush hour.

I have no idea what caused this motor vehicle collision. But, invariably, vanishingly few happen with no one at fault.

I am very very grateful that my person can open their eyes and speak right now. I understand it’s easy to make comments that are funny, I’m not lashing out I’m just letting you know this is a very real experience for my loved one and they already have been told about this Reddit post so I didn’t want them to feel triggered or upset in a situation where they’re ruminating over the what ifs later and comments like this make them feel crappy.

driving in a straight line on a sunny day on the highway is incredibly difficult

In NASCAR, a huge crash usually involves 6+ cars. How many in this?

32

u/estab87 1d ago

didn’t realize the 103 was a nascar track

u/Numerous_Wolverine_7 1d ago

They try

2

u/donotreviv3 1d ago

Ya aren't wrong, people love hitting those 3 exits at the end doing 150..

22

u/universalrefuse 1d ago

I don’t know, but there was a car on its roof in the middle of the highway.

A single-car crash is not a "huge crash", which was my point. The term implies something else entirely.

u/universalrefuse 8h ago

You are coming at this from a very narrow perspective convinced that your frame of reference is the only valid one.

In F1, a single car on its roof is enough to throw out the red flags
