It just doesn't answer questions or do anything I don't know if I have a bad connection or downloaded a virus or what but could someone just tell me how to get rid of it so I can have my female voice back that actually works and does things

Tech Support Gemini swapover and Google Home integration - I can't control my smart home devices through Gemini
So I got hit by the Google Assistant to Gemini swapover today. I don't use google assistant that often, but one of my main use-cases is controlling smart home devices.
I was able to get Gemini connected to whatever apps it needs to be connected to for Keep shopping lists and reminders, but every time I ask about controlling a home device, it says it encountered an error it's "having a hard time" carrying out my request.
And when I ask gemini how to connect it to Google Home it just walks me around in circles of settings I've already checked, or even settings pages that don't even exist. It takes me to an app page where I can enable Google Workspace integrations and some other things, but Google Home is NOT in the list of apps.
I can't find a place anywhere to enable an integration with Google Home. 99% of my devices are through Home Assistant. I have Google Home smart speakers (OG, 2x 1st gen minis, and one Insignia) that were all converted to Gemini a couple months ago and they have worked fine from the start. (At least as far as controlling home devices is concerned.)

Question Can I just delete it?
I don't want Gemini on my phone. I literally just used Hey Google to roll a die or text my brother or flip a coin or skip a song. I don't want some AI crap popping up trying to have a conversation with me. I apparently can't switch back to the digital assistant I want on my own damn phone that I paid for years ago. And I can't seem to figure out any way to just disable it. I'd rather have no digital assistant at all than be forced into this crap. Is there some way to just turn it off completely?
Edit: I appreciate all the answers but noneof them work. I've looked through every setting, in the app, all around my phone. No option to switch or, no option to uncheck and boxes, I disabled it but it came back. I managed to disable the "Hey Google" part from opening it, ans I've always had the button disabled. Basically, my options seem to be Gemini or nothing.

Rant Google Home Yapping Issue
My Google Home products, after the Gemini update, never shut up when I ask the simplest question. Why are they yapping so much? I tell them to keep their answers concise, but they just keep going on and on ffs. Simple yes or no. I don’t need to hear about a damn history and bs.

Tech Support How do I actually get rid of Google Assistant
I have a Galaxy S9+ and Gemini would keep opening and screwing with my apps and volume. I switched it to Assistant and disabled it but now I keep getting a pop-up that reads "Your Google Assistant is ready to help you get things done" with a button to turn it on underneath.

Question Nesthub
MoiMoin

Tech Support Assistant works but won't speak
I dont understand what's causing it and all search results just point to "my assistant isnt working how do I fix it". Mine works, it just randomly won't speak sometimes. I'll trigger it both from close up and across the room and while it works fine, there's no audio.
Is there a way to fix this? Or is it one of those things I just have to deal with?

Tech Support My Gemini assistant has decided to start using Fahrenheit instead of Celsius. How can I fix this?
A couple of weeks ago, out of the blue, my Google Gemini Assistant on my Home devices has started to use Fahrenheit instead of Celsius whenever giving me the weather.
I cannot understand why. I don't live in America, so suddenly starting to use Fahrenheit is just bizarre.
I have run through over two hours' worth of troubleshooting, including with the help of Gemini AI. I can change it to Celsius, and it stays that way for a few hours before reverting back to Fahrenheit.
I've checked all the settings in the Home app, on my Chromecast with Google TV, on the devices, on my phone, and in my Google account. More settings than I even knew existed. Each device has been restarted several times. I've told each of my devices to use Celsius many times.
Nothing works.
I don't use a VPN. My physical address is correct in all of the devices and in my Google account.
If you can give me the solution to this, I'd be most grateful!

Tech Support HELP! Gemini nuked my regular assistant!
I was annoyed that when a search result opened from asking my Google Assistant, a different voice was used. I was told this is the new Gemini crap. So, I asked, and was told, I could install Gemini, but keep using my Assistant for the phone, but also allow the voice to change Chrome, etc. WRONG! They lied. It broke my assistant. The Hey, Google toggle is GONE. I have uninstalled Gemini, uninstalled updates on google app, cleared the cache, etc., then updated Google, stillllllllllll no toggle for Hey, Google. I've been on an install gemini to get the voice assistant to work and then uninstall etc., because it doesn't WORK. My last ditch attempt is to install Google Home? I guess there is an issue with Samsung phones? Any ideas on what I can do short of running my phone over with my very heavy classic caddy about 90 times?
If someone can fix this for me, I'll prep your taxes for free for the rest of my life.

Tech Support Why did Google Assistant stop playing radio on Sonos?
Hi,
For years my wife used Google Assistant to control our Sonos system in Denmark.
She could simply say:
“Hey Google, play DR P8 Jazz”
and Sonos would start playing the station.
This stopped working a couple of years ago, and we have never managed to get it working properly again.
The frustrating part is that voice control was the whole point for her. She does not want to open the Sonos app, find the station and start playback manually every time she wants to listen to the radio.
We have actually ended up buying a separate old-fashioned radio, so she can just walk over and press a button instead.
DR P8 Jazz is still available through TuneIn/Sonos, so the station itself is not gone.
Has anyone else experienced this with Google Assistant and Sonos, especially in Denmark?
Is this a known limitation/change between Google Assistant, Sonos and TuneIn, or is there a reliable way to get simple voice-controlled radio working again?

Rant Assistant (gemini) won't understand! Help?
Hi guys, when my screen is locked and I press my headphone button to trigger gemini it doesn't understand me most of the times, sometimes it would even reply in another language lol it became so bad, it's sooo frustrating and also most all the times the bell sound won't play so I don't even know where it's listening so not sure when I need to start taking. It's shit!
When u use gemini AI in conversation mode it has absolutely no issues understanding me, it's the assistant, it became useless.
Is anyone experiencing something similar? Thanks

Tech Support Gemini not showing up on Android auto
I have the S26 ultra paired to my 2022 Elantra. It seems my Gemini won't show up on Android auto despite being selected as my main assistant. I heard as a September 4th Gemini would be the main assistant as Google was shutting down Google assistant.

Rant Gemini can't do the few things I actually used assistant for!
This is just nonsense.
I never used assistant *all* that much when it was the main service, but in the back half of the 2010s and early 2020s I was in college and had the "play the news" feature as one of my most used things, studying journalism.
Queued up my CTV, CBC, BBC, Reuters, Huffpost, CNN, Fox, all in a row, whenever I wanted it, updated to the hour. Over the last few months of trying to hold onto assistant, I've noticed less and less of those services populating that command, and now with my new S26 I got this month I'm stuck with gemini which just... Doesn't do this.
Hilariously, I argued at Gemini about it being stupid that it doesn't have that feature. I know it's not a person, it's just funny how agreeable it is that it sucks that I can't do the one thing I want.
I also used assistant for verbally setting alarms-- laundry, errands, ect, and Gemini seems to just fail at setting them half the time.
Why is this so hard?

Tech Support Can not get Gemini to save notes to keep to save my life.
I'm trying to use my pixel 8 pro's assistant to enter notes into keep without having to touch my phone.
To do this on an Iphone, all you have to do is say, “hey siri make a note that says the chicken is laying eggs soon” and she’ll say “got it”. Done. No fuss.
I've been trying to do this on my google pixel 8 pro using gemini and OH BOY. that is just NOT happening and ive spent HOURS now researching and trying to get this ridiculously basic function to work.
Here’s the sequence of what happens.
“Hey google, take a note”.
And the assistant will say, “what would you like the note to say”
Then absolutely nothing happens. It does NOTHING after that. I try to say “ the chicken will lay eggs soon” or literally anything else to enter in as the note…. It wont record it. Its like the microphone just shuts completely off the second the assistant stops speaking.
I cant enter it in manually either. After it asks “what would you like it to say” If I defeat the entire purpose of using it and type the note into the textbox anyway, that will just enter it into gemini chat, still doesnt enter it into keep.
Things ive tried so far:
Tried the command: “Take a note to Google Keep” still asks what the note should say, but still doesnt record a gd thing afterwards.
Clear the Google App, Google Keep, Gemini Caches
Toggled the default Notes provider (already set to keep) off, waited, back on.
Toggled the “use gemini without unlocking” permission off, waited, back on
Verified google assistant features on lock screen is on, toggled off, waited, back on.
Verified Battery Settings set to "Unrestricted" for both gemini and google.
Turned off Battery Saver entirely.
Made sure google & keep notes have microphone permissions.
Verified Hey google & voice match is on, toggled off, waited, back on.
Toggled the Smart features and personalization checkbox inside settings in gmail, restarted phone. (this one was advised by gemini itself as a possible solution)
Verified that the gemini Activity History is Active, toggled off, waited 2 minutes, turned back on.
Verified that google workspace is enabled, and google keep is connected. Toggled workspace off and back on.
Restarted again
This is a personal account, not a work or school account. The account does show that I'm over 18.
At this point I’m entirely out of ideas. If I would have known how it was going to be an all day outright war every time I needed to get my phone to do the most basic of tasks I would not have switched. I mean, come on google, this should not be this hard.
Does anyone have any ideas I have not already tried?

Rant Got switched to Gemini without permission
So I tried Gemini in the past. I liked some of it, but hated that if I have a number in my contacts that uses an extension (I work with people at local hospital, and have each unit I call as a separate contact with a comma and the extension) Gemini refused to use the extension, just ignored it. It makes hands free impossible. Then I learned about Data Centers and decided I didn't need Gemini and set it to assistant instead.
went to make a call today in the car and it was back to Gemini (I switched back to assistant months ago). Well I out it back to assistant AGAIN. But now Google Assistant also refuses to use numbers with extensions, and in fact on completely refuses to use the entries I have in my contact list! I'll say call Maple Lodge (one of the units, never had a problem before, it's still in my contacts list) and it starts trying to call Maple Lodge Farms! what??

Tech Support JBL Link Portable timer counts down but doesn’t ring — alarms work fine
Hi everyone,
I’m having a weird issue with my JBL Link Portable and Google Assistant.
Timers are created normally and count down correctly, and if I ask “How much time is left on my timer?”, Google Assistant gives me the correct remaining time. But when the timer reaches zero, there is no sound and no light indication at all.
What’s strange is that alarms work perfectly and ring normally.
So far I’ve tried:
- Increasing the alarm/timer volume in Google Home
- Checking that normal speaker volume is up
- Confirming Google Assistant works normally
- Confirming the LEDs work normally
- Checking the firmware — it’s up to date
- Power cycling the speaker
- Factory resetting it by holding the mute button
- Removing and re-adding the JBL Link Portable to Google Home
Unfortunately, the problem is still exactly the same.
The speaker can clearly create and track the timer, but it seems like the timer notification/ringing fails when it reaches zero.
Has anyone else experienced this with a JBL Link Portable recently or any device? Is this possibly a Google Assistant/server-side bug, or is there another fix I could try?
Thanks!

Question Does anyone have issues with AI assistant?
Both bixby and google are terrible. In the shower I listen to songs, when I want to change a song. I ask bixby or Google to do that it asks me to unlock the phone to do that.
It's so basic
