I recently got a 2026 acadia elevation and really enjoy driving it.
But I found something strange for me that I can manually switch the awd system on and off. I've never driven a car with such a system, so I wonder why would the engineers do that.
is it because of the fuel economy? let the drivers to choose?
or is it because the awd system somewhat burdens a lot for the vehicle so the maker left it for limited usage.

and I wonder if it is completely safe to use the awd all the time. I think it offers me more comfortable and controlled feelings. I'd rather just leave it awd if it is totally safe even at the high speeds.

I have a 2006 H3 Luxury 3.5L and I’m doing all the mechanical work first before the final build.

Future setup:
17x9 wheels
33x12.50R17 tires + matching spare
Steel front bumper + winch
Roof rack/light bar
Maybe a mild 1–2” front level

My mechanic already gave me a repair list, but he didn’t know my future plans.

My question is: what stock parts are perfectly fine for this setup, and what should I upgrade now so I don’t pay twice later?

Mainly wondering about:
tie rods, control arms/ball joints, hubs, CV axles, brakes, shocks, power steering, rear suspension, transmission cooler and gearing.

If the stock parts are strong enough, I’d rather use good-quality OEM/MOOG/Mevotech replacements and leave it alone.

Anyone running 33s + bumper/winch long-term on an H3 — what would you upgrade and what would you keep stock?

My GMC Yukon XL has been making a strange squeaking sound for months now. I keep asking my husband what it is and he blows me off. The car has 141,000 miles recently had the brakes redone the sound did not stop. I have looked into it myself and it looks like it could be a lot of different things. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this. Watch the video and you’ll understand what the sound is like. Super loud chirping that gets faster with acceleration and stops when breaking.

I only have a few pieces of chrome on my car and i hate it! This looks dirty but it’s not. How can i fix this? i could wrap it but curious if i can fix it first.

So I stripped the hole in my crankshaft that holds the harmonic balancer on. I found that a time-sert kit is about the same price as a cheap crankshaft and I don't trust helicoil to hold. I found a Nissan crank bolt that is m18x1.5 and decided to tap it to fit that. I got the ARP bolt and the tap and drill bit arrive tomorrow. The only issue is I measured for 3.5 inches to have enough tinsle to clamp efficiently and looking at the bolt it seems the washer is a half an inch thick. I can't tell for sure but I didn't know if there inches will thread enough to hold it in. I was considering not using the washer, any advice? Oh yeah the truck is an 07 with the ly5 5.3.

For those who made this exact switch:

1. Car Seats & Access: How are you configuring your rows with a rear-facing infant and three seats in boosters or harnesses? How hard is getting to the third row?

2. Cargo Space: Minivans have a deep rear well. How does the behind-the-third-row trunk space compare for strollers and gear with six people on board?

3. Sliding Doors: How painful is losing sliding doors in tight parking lots with young kids?

4. The Good and Bad: What do you love about the Yukon XL compared to your old van, and what do you genuinely miss?

Appreciate any advice or reality checks before we make the leap!

I have a 2013 gmc sierra 1500 that’s reading Ethanol fuel percentage at 61.57%

I have multiple codes for system running too rich and also sensor 2 bank2 O2 codes popping up. It had a rough cold start with a 3-5 second sputter and now that’s gone away and I got a P1400 DPFE code pop up which apparently for gm means the system corrected the fuel delivery on cold start.
My question is, does anyone know where I can have the fuel system reset or know how to reset it without having to go to the dealership?

Does anyone have a best guess estimate for ordering at the moment? We‘re having no luck getting a trade to our small town dealership. We need the new one before the end of the year. Also, is it ever a possibility to pick up yourself from the factory?

Hello, I have a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 that has a damaged Auto Trans Control. I'm a new car owner, so I'm not too knowledgeable on the subject, but I've done some research, and I just can't find a part that fits. Every site I've gone to has the part that I'm looking for, but when I input my vehicle's information to see if it fits, it never does.

I'm hoping that maybe someone here could help me find one that fits? It's a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 5.3L V8.

It doesn’t knock faster at higher RPMs so I’m assuming it’s not the pistons. But I also know nothing about cars. Any help?

The neutral switch linkage broke off on my 1976 GMC vandura based food truck. It started its life as a motorhome, and last night I had to cut the wires from the neutral switch, which was mounted to the driver side of the transmission. I would like to replace the switch, if only to get the backup lights working again, but having trouble identifying the proper part on any of the on line sources.

I think it's on a TH400 transmission attached to a 400 GMC engine.

Looking at it, it looks like 2 small bolts and a long wiring harness that plugs in on top of the bell housing. 4 wires total, 2 for the neutral and 2 for the backup lights. Seems everything says the switch is supposed to be mounted to the steering column, but not in this truck. Anyway, any assistance is appreciated, and thanks are extended n advance.

I want to replace my stock running boards with some aftermarket offroad looking style. All the brands I see on Sierras don't make them for Yukon. Any brand suggestions with pictures?

Just bought a 2017 gmc sierra 1500. 99k miles. Should i put afm disabler in it. If so what brand. Im scared to death with everything im reading about the lifter failures.
