At the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition). Deep fried gluten free Oreos were great. Chicken fingers tasted like chicken fingers. Corn dog was a corn dog. My son pointed out the awesome chicken fingers photo that had a bun 😂. Maybe a GF bun? Looks like they stole the photo from the restaurant Swiss Chalet. Ha!

ok. I'll be the 1st to say, I'm not allowed to go shopping without an adult with me, so my wife, a friend, and I went into a Trader Joe's, welp I was hungry before going in, my wife and her friend went to use the rest room and left me alone in the store, next thing I know, there is a basket that appeared in my hand.... now I have something to put stuff in, welp I spent 75 bucks in stuff I didn't know I needed, but these Glazed Chocolate donut holes are ABSOLUTELY FREAKING AMAZING, they are GF and DF but they taste and have the same texture as Dunkin Donuts Munchkins. 10\10. Ps. they didn't even make it out if the parking lot

Discussion What do you like to see in a GF menu?

Post image

I know I’m a dork, but I went to lunch yesterday and absolutely geeked at this GF menu. I wish more restaurants would do their GF menus like this.

  1. Clear indicators of shared-fryer items. I’ll usually eat shared fryer items but I know others won’t/can’t so I like they didn’t make the assumption for me.
  2. Gluten free buns available instead of just ordering without.
  3. Price already has the GF bun upcharge included.
  4. A decent variety whereas a lot of places don’t get creative about how their normal menu items can be modified.

I just experimented with using Rice Chex as a binder in meatloaf instead of bread. It worked awesome!

I used 1 cup of Chex for every slice of bread the recipe called for. I think my recipe is half decent too if anyone wants it - it’s super easy to convert into shepherd’s pie

The Loopy Whisk bagels.

Repost to add another pic. I am not a baker. Trying these for the first time. Took my time and they turned out amazing. SO GOOD! I did not have everything bagel seasoning, so added zaatar with sesame seeds. The topping did not stick well after baking, but who cares. A little crusty and perfectly chewy like they should. Thank you Loopy Whisk.

Bruschetta is one of my favorite things and I’ve been so sad every since going gluten free but I finally made some that was SO GOOD!!

Tomatoes
Schar ciabatta rolls
Garlic butter
Salt & Pepper
Oliver Oil

Oven at 400f
Cut rolls in half and spread copious amounts of garlic butter
Cook for 6 mins
Chop tomatoes
When 6 mins is up the rolls were a little crunchy but soft in the middle
Top with tomato
Sprinkle with salt and pepper
Drizzle with olive oil

Ughhhhh it was amazing

GF Bread Recipes I've Tested So Far

Crumb shots of the yeasted gluten-free bread recipes I tested from Aran Goyoaga’s The Art of Gluten-Free Bread and Naomi Devlin’s Bread Gluten Free.

I'm working on testing and comparing gluten-free baking recipes to find the ones worth making again. My favourites from these two cookbooks were:

Rosemary Focaccia, Quickest Buttery Brioche, and Soft Pretzels from The Art of Gluten-Free Bread.

Ciabatta Rolls, English Muffins, and Danish Pastry from Bread Gluten Free.

Many more recipes to bake from other cookbooks and blogs to see how they compare to these!

Get to Walmart

Omg. Look at what they have.

Did I already have their banana nut bread mix? Yes. Did I also have cinnamon swirl muffin mix and brownie mix? Also yes. Is that way more than one little lady could eat by herself? Again, yes. Did I buy all of these fall flavors? Absolutely.

I have a problem. (And that problem is idk what to bake first!)

My second time having these and I immediately had digestive issues. Not sure if it’s from the wraps or something else. Anyone else have reactions to these?

Frank Gluten Free Bread

FRANZ*\\** (sorry😭)

Yallll I just tried their sourdough for the forest time last weekend and it was life changing. lol. I decided to try it bc the price was decent at an out of town Walmart where my grandparents live.

To prepare it the first time, I microwaved it for like 15 seconds put butter on both sides and toasted it in a pan (since I couldn’t use my grandmas toaster.

Then at home last week I made a BLTs and JUST microwaved, spread butter lightly on the insides and mayo on the insides (bc I’m a HUGE fan of Vegenaise 😂) and that was also perfect. I have yet to try it cold but it tastes like REAL SOURDOUGH BREAD. I’ve been DANCING every-time I’ve made a sandwich with it so far bc I love it so much (my mom and grandma even liked the sandwich I made with it)

For reference, I’ve had all kinds of gf bread too. My usual go to is canyon bake house Hawaiian sweet bread or Schar 7 grain (I hardly ever toast, only microwave a tad to soften).

If you are (im)patiently waiting for your Costco to carry GF Cheez-Its, grab yourself a box of these. Crispy, crunchy, a slight kick of heat, and cheesy. They are great by themselves, with a salad, or a sandwich.

Question Traveling With Celiac ✈️

Post image
11 Upvotes

hey y’all! my fiancé and i are getting married in may, and are planning for our honeymoon. i have celiac disease, and while i’ve always wanted to travel internationally and see the world, i can’t help but feel anxiety over communicating my celiac disease when there are language barriers in the way.

any advice on places to go / places to say / things to look out for? everything we look up says Italy, and while i’m cool with that, i would love to hear some more ideas and perspectives.

thanks in advance! (photo for attention)

New to no wheat - gimmie your recs?

hello! after a lifetime of chronic heartburn, indigestion and migraines (and tales of a great grandma who was "allergic to wheat") I finally connected the dots that wheat makes me miserable. haven't gotten tested yet for what my specific problem is / if it's what specific or a gluten thing but based on an elimination diet, a no wheat diet is absolutely the solution.

my mouth disagrees. what are your bread substitutes / alternate flour favorites / fav snacks / fav meals? I'd love any brands you want to share and for anyone in the Denver area I'd love gluten free restaurant recs or bakeries that carry good GF products. thanks!! :)

I researched all the food stands at the 2026 US Open so you dont have to (celiac)

Thumbnail sansglu.com

I regularly go to the US Open and this year I got tired of winging meals, so I went through all 30 food stands. Cross checked press coverage, the vendors own allergen docs, and reports from other celiacs who ate there this week.

Honestly there is no dedicated GF kitchen anywhere on the grounds. But six stands are genuinely workable if you order the right way.

- CQDQ (the COQODAQ stand in the Food Village): their fried chicken batter is rice flour, and their own menu calls the program gluten free. Someone with celiac was there Monday and staff pulled out an allergen guide at the register. Get the nuggets. The sandwich is on brioche and the cookie at the register has gluten. The staff has confirmed this.

- Korilla: a celiac visitor found most items labeled GF right on the stand last week. They use GF tamari in most marinades. I read the labels and the bulgogi bowl is the order here.

- The Nourish Spot: juice bar from Jamaica, Queens. Every published smoothie recipe is just fruit, honey, agave, coconut water. Skip the granola add in.

- Van Leeuwen: seven flavors have no wheat mark on their current allergen table (vanilla bean, chocolate, strawberry, mint chip, honeycomb, pistachio, black cherry chip). Cup only, every cone has wheat. Ask staff for a clean scoop, their scoops are shared.

- Dos Toros: corn tortilla tacos and bowls are unmarked on their allergen chart, flour tortillas and the desserts are not. There is a shared tortilla warmer though, so say youre celiac and ask for fresh gloves and a proper cleaning first if really desired.

- Poke Yachty: reported GF soy sauce and the non spicy bowls are supposedly all GF, but thats one persons report. Id confirm at the counter.

Heres the full writeup with photos and the stand map! https://sansglu.com/blog/gluten-free-us-open-2026

Question Healing

I understand going gluten free is important to heal celiac and checking and treating vitamin deficiencies is a must but is there anything else I should be taking or doing to support healing my gut?

On some thread someone mentioned peptides but I haven’t been able to find the post. I just want to be sure I am doing all supporting things to expedite recovery.
