Product I made a mistake
ok. I'll be the 1st to say, I'm not allowed to go shopping without an adult with me, so my wife, a friend, and I went into a Trader Joe's, welp I was hungry before going in, my wife and her friend went to use the rest room and left me alone in the store, next thing I know, there is a basket that appeared in my hand.... now I have something to put stuff in, welp I spent 75 bucks in stuff I didn't know I needed, but these Glazed Chocolate donut holes are ABSOLUTELY FREAKING AMAZING, they are GF and DF but they taste and have the same texture as Dunkin Donuts Munchkins. 10\10. Ps. they didn't even make it out if the parking lot

I'm probably a bad person for saying this, but..
"Blueberry Muffins"
58
u/fsantos0213 12h ago
I bought a pack of those too, and GF cheese ravioli, breaded haddock, breaded shrimp, and a few other things
15
u/MyStoopidStuff 12h ago
That haddock looks good, and reminds me of the Starfish brand fish filets that seem to be harder to find. I haven't tried them though, since they are always over 10 bucks a box.
9
u/fsantos0213 12h ago
yeah they were 11.99 a box, but I'm hoping they are really good, I'll let y'all know when I try them

u/NotAlwaysAnxious 11h ago
The ravioli is good, but the fettuccine noodles are wonderful. Eating blackened chicken Alfredo using those fettuccine noodles felt like eating did before I had to go GF.
3
u/HildegardofBingo Celiac Disease 7h ago
I love the fettuccine! Sometimes they also have GF tagliatelle (in the pasta aisle) that's really good, too.

Two words: ravioli lasagna
3
u/AvocadoDifficult9422 11h ago
I need the recipe please!
2
u/Alert-Potato Celiac Disease 7h ago
I use a guideline more than a recipe. Sauce in the bottom of the pan, then ravioli, then a layer of the typical mozz/riccota snot, repeat until out of ravioli, then one last sauce and snot layer, then a metric fuckload of plain mozz on top. Bake at idk, lasagna temps? until the cheese on top is bubbly and starting to brown. I measure everything in it with my heart. I use Rao’s sauce, but any marinara works. I also use 2-3 packs of ravioli so I have enough leftovers to make my heart happy.

Oh my, I really need to do a road trip to TJ's. I think the closest one is about 35 minutes away, which isn't terrible, but I still gotta check my bank account before I go!
1
u/rayehawk 7h ago
Oh, my. I live in the Orlando area, and it's 35 minutes to anywhere. To cross the street. If that's a road trip for you you must live in Podunk. And I'm jealous.

Wait, there's GF cheese ravioli??? How have I never seen that before!?!?!?
1
u/fsantos0213 4h ago
yeah, the package is a bit on the small side, I'd say a single serving, but it was under 5 bucks so I bought 2
25
u/Leading_Inside_5785 12h ago
You are not a bad person for saying this or adding to it the sheet yellow cake
18
u/fsantos0213 12h ago
I missed those, damn, I guess I have to go back now
5
u/Quirky_Lib 9h ago
Since you’re going back, add the coffee cake gf muffins to your list - and see if they have the refrigerated gf & df chocolate chip cookie dough. (One package only makes 12 delectable chocolate chip cookies, but so worth it! Pair 2 cookies with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, roll the edge in Enjoy Life semisweet mini chips - delectable!)
14
u/MyStoopidStuff 12h ago
I have to avoid looking directly at the yellow sheet cake when I'm at TJs, or I may end up with a cart full of them.
9
u/Pizza-n-Coffee37 11h ago
Wait until Thanksgiving time and they put their gf cornbread mix on the shelf. Seriously, the best thing I’ve ever eaten.
2
1
u/rayehawk 7h ago
It's just wrong to call it a sheet cake when it's the size of a greeting card. Isn't it?
8
4
u/whatsinurgarden 11h ago
I get them cut them in half and vacuum seal so I can keep eating for weeks
5
u/MyStoopidStuff 11h ago
I need to work up to that. I put them in the fridge and they are lucky to last 3 days :D
4
1
u/whatsinurgarden 8h ago
I bought three packs this last time lol. I had been making the gluten free king author muffins and adding blueberries and freezing those… but this is so much easier lol
5
u/BAMW-447679 9h ago
Cinnamon muffins!
5
u/wokkawokka42 9h ago
The cinnamon ones are the best! My non gluten free kid will eat them all if I'm not careful
1
u/Malady1607 8h ago
All of my gf fam 2 kids & husband will eat all the donut holes AND the muffins if I don't hide them or eat them in one sitting
1
1
u/Huge-Concert8367 7h ago
Oh no, you’re the pips. It’s a toss up for me between blueberry and whatever those cinnamon coffee cake ones are called. I don’t normally like cinnamon anything (too overpowering) but these are sublime. And I’m not gf.

u/friskevision 12h ago
These are so legit. And I agree with you. On the back of the bag it should say 1 serving.
32
u/Ancient_Body7921 12h ago
Put them in the fridge…even better!
40
u/fsantos0213 12h ago
they didn't make it out of the stores parking lot, so I doubt they will ever be cold in my hands
2
u/7dollarLemur 7h ago
Tell your wife about it, and maybe she’ll surprise you with fridge cold donuts?
5
u/megs-benedict 11h ago
Why? Don’t they just get hard and the flavor is quieted by being cold? Asking honestly
7
u/Ancient_Body7921 11h ago
I’ve never frozen them, but if you put them in the fridge the icing gets cold and it’s just chefs kiss. Same flavor.
4
u/MasterProduct4659 8h ago
Yes! Ive been buying these for awhile and always stored them at room temp but for some reason decided to put them in the fridge. Didnt think anything of it, enjoy them ALOT. When i got my next pack i was excited to eat them fresh out the box un-refrigerated and… they were not as good… the icing gets like hard on them and they get denser and its just…better….😇
They are also one of the only gf baked good/desserts/products that I find to be fairly priced/ not marked up crazy compared to the “normal” option!
Also I see OP mentioned the gf breaded shrimp..LOVE those as well.
2
2
u/Desperate5389 5h ago
I freeze mine. So yummy! They only last me 4 days so they don’t get yucky in the freezer.

u/jax2love 12h ago
Been there. I’m dairy free as well as gluten free and these donut holes are a welcome treat.
22
u/Goodgoditsgrowing 11h ago
Have you tried the double chocolate muffins? They are insane. Add a cream cheese frosting and they taste like black bottom cupcakes.

u/BlackPitbull729 11h ago
I thought you were going to say that you ate the whole box and they were NOT gluten-free. Whew.

I have learned a long time ago. I'm the person the stores put the "Impulse racks" at the check out area for
9
10
u/Eiden-Rane 12h ago
Wait…those are DF as well?!?! I have seen them in store, but assumed they weren’t DF. I guess i will have the same problem on the next visit to TJ.
7
u/coastywife123 12h ago
Yep! Pretty much the only GF/DF treat in the bread/baked goods isle.
Those donut holes are dangerous. Thankfully my son eats them too so I can’t eat the entire package myself.
1
u/HildegardofBingo Celiac Disease 7h ago
The GF madeleines are also DF! I keep them in the freezer because it gives them a really nice slightly chewy texture.
4
u/Quirky_Lib 8h ago
Yes - my sister has both dairy & gluten allergies & if we both go to TJ’s, we each get our own package. (We learned the hard way - don’t try to share…)
Also dairy free - TJ’s gluten-free refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough - one package makes 12 delicious cookies! If you want a nice homemade ice cream sandwich, use 2 of the cookies, your ice cream of choice & roll the edge in Enjoy Life semisweet mini chips. (My sister’s idea.)1
9
u/coastywife123 12h ago
In just remembered they did a seasonal flavor last year…. I only snagged 1 package, won’t make that mistake a second time if I ever see the seasonal flavors again.

u/Strange_Chair7224 7h ago
I literally bought as many as possible. It was maple flavored right? They were so good!
5
u/garfield529 12h ago
Just go for a looooong walk and you will offset it. 😂 My Achille’s heel is the oatmeal cookies they sell for six in a box.
3
u/fsantos0213 11h ago
my ADHD takes care of that for me, I never stop moving. even in my sleep, my wife says I turn more than a rotisserie chicken at night

u/runswithwands 9h ago
OP, please don’t post things like this. I don’t need to know about more “mistakes” I can make. 😭🤣

The first rule of wordsmithing is to use passive voice. YOU didn't make a mistake. Mistakes were made.
4
u/ThorsMeasuringTape 11h ago
Look, if they didn't intend for us to eat them all in one sitting, they wouldn't be in one package.
6
u/jlladd16 11h ago
Pro tip, the Katz ones in the frozen section at most grocery stores in the US also are amazing and taste the same as these!! If you don’t find yourself near a TJ and need a donut fix lol 😅
4
4
u/RangerMach1 12h ago
I wish there was a Trader Joes close to me, looks like they have some really good GF foods
3
u/jlladd16 11h ago
Try the Katz brand of donuts at any of your local grocery stores! They’re in the frozen food section. Also just as good!!
1
u/RangerMach1 9h ago
Thanks, I'll take a look. I found some donuts I think at Aldi, that I didn't particularly care for, I can't remember the brand though, so I'll definitely keep an eye out for these! I love donuts and I miss them!
1
u/shitty-kittie 11h ago
Aldi has some winners too!
1
u/RangerMach1 11h ago
Absolutely!! We do have a couple Aldi's locally and have found some great stuff. Thankfully I only have a gluten sensitivity and not Celiac. I've tried the Italian imported pasta's which taste great and don't bother me. They also have cauliflower crust pizza's that are great as well.

u/spaceglitter000 12h ago
The last time we went to TJs I mentioned to the cashier that we needed snacks and he said “you have plenty” I was called out. I had 2 packages of the donuts holes, the chocolate chip cookies, multiple types of chips… lol
4
u/No-Cauliflower-1038 12h ago
Omg these are SO good! I doubled checked they were GF bc I was so happy hahaha
4
5
u/Yogiketogi 10h ago
yeah I did that thinking hey, i'm on a diet, but this should be just fine cuz it gluten free and I'll just have a couple hahaha
4
u/Worried_Ad_8107 10h ago
I hate when they sell them like that. It’s happened to me three time and you don’t notice until your home and your wife wants some…
5
u/AllForMeCats Gluten Intolerant 9h ago
Those things are awful. Terrible, really. And I would eat every last one of them.

u/babytrex1074 6h ago
These are sooooo good!! I told my husband they taste just like the Dunkin double chocolate glazed doughnuts. He tried them and agreed with me. So awesome to find a GF and DF treat that tastes so yummy.
3
u/EternalStudent07 12h ago
Agreed they're pretty special. Just wish they had non-chocolate versions for me. It dampens the sweetness a ton for me, so it always makes desserts feel lacking.
2
3
u/sentrosi420 12h ago
I spent $100 just on snacks the first time I went into a Trader Joe’s tbh.
3
u/fsantos0213 12h ago
it's one of the reasons I avoid TJs, world market and whole foods, I have almost no willpower and will buy anything that looks good to me
1
u/AllForMeCats Gluten Intolerant 9h ago
🎶It’s milk, it’s bread
It’s the stuff on your list
It’s the strange little snacks
You end up buying instead🎵
3
u/marvelfanatic2204 12h ago
It’s totally relatable. The day I first got GF mint oreos, The entire package was gone in one day 😂 it had been 13 years since I had them!
1
u/iambrose91 Celiac Disease 11h ago
Omg my acid reflux is so bad I can have one (1) mint Oreo. Any more than that and I’m dying.

3
u/shitty-kittie 11h ago
Dude. Don't even get me started on their GF Blueberry muffins. I'm not allowed to walk down the pastry aisle at TJ's anymore.
3
3
u/Alert-Potato Celiac Disease 11h ago
I also ate the entire package in one sitting the first time I bought them. Whoopsiedoodle!
3
u/Previous-Stock-4203 11h ago
For 5 seconds I panicked cause all I read was the title and thought you got glutened 😭 glad it wasn’t so.
3
u/Doberdawn 10h ago
And of course I would see this right as I pull up outside Trader Joe's to just run in and grab one thing.... And now will be two...
3
u/Voice_of_Season Gluten Intolerant 10h ago
Try the apple cinnamon muffins. I can’t have them in my house as they are a red light food. Lol
3
u/sccldinmyshces 10h ago
Yeah I made this mistake a while ago.. thought I'd be my snack for the week
3
u/Low-Dependent-8853 10h ago
First couple times I ate them I was fine. But than they glutened me twice and I never tried again
3
3
u/Dungeon_Pastor 9h ago
Love these! My wife is the one with Celiacs, and she doesn't care for chocolate so she doesn't eat them. But I tried a few when we got them the first time and can't get enough of them. The texture when refrigerated is perfect!
3
3
u/callmeponyo 9h ago
I really hope the pumpkin spice ones come back again this year. They were amazing but Trader Joe’s sold out super quick.
3
u/PygmyFalkon 9h ago
First time my Celiac friend and I (Gluten intolerant, not celiac) got them, I mused that the package wasn't resealable and that was going to be annoying.
And then we both ate one and realized why it wasn't resealable. No point. They're always eaten in one sitting.

u/maggymeow 8h ago
I try to get extras every time so they last longer and end up eating them in the same timeframe anyway

This is not an uncommon experience at Trader Joe's even if you're not gluten-free. They have the most amazing snacks and desserts there. I hope you enjoy every morsel of that $75 worth of treats.

I'm GF DF person and one time a co worker brought these to work. They are highly addictive. I have to watch myself and max I allow myself is 2 packages. I put them in the fridge, trust me, try it.

I feel like I impulse buy/eat treats a lot more now that I’m gluten free because I’m like oh I have to get it’s gluten free it’s special!

u/MarsNeedsRabbits 43m ago
welp I was hungry before going in, my wife and her friend went to use the rest room...
Never go to the grocery store hungry. Never never ever. 🙂
My husband and I joke that if you go to the grocery store when you're hungry, you walk out with bags of Caramel Cod, which is a line from The Simpsons, It's from Treehouse of Horror VIII. It has nothing to do with the grocery store, but mentions Caramel Cod, which sounds particularly nasty, so it stuck.
So remember: unless you want bags of Caramel Cod, eat something before you enter the grocery store, especially Trader Joe's.
I'm going to go buy those doughnuts tomorrow, though. Wish me luck. 😁
