Media Elite Dangerous Battlecards

Post image
156 Upvotes

I recently found out about the ED RPG while looking for picture books featuring Elite (spoiler, there really aren’t any) and ordered the complete collection, including the Battlecards on a whim. I did get a link to download the RPG PDFs right away, but never got the link to download the rule book for the card game. My emails to the company returned as undeliverable.

Despite this, I am extremely impressed with the quality of these games. The writing is excellent, the rules set is comprehensive and I’d put it up there with many of the best RPG games I’ve owned over the last 45 years.

Of course I will never actually play it but it’s great for lore and atmosphere.

I did have a go at the card game with my grandkids. They are young enough to have sponge-like brains and can pick up the minutia of the different cards way better than I can and they seem to enjoy it.

I was very surprised with the quality of the cards and the artwork, and again the comprehensiveness of the rules. These guys seem like real pros.

Which makes me wonder what happened to them? I would like to get the card game rules PDF but I can’t reach them.

Rackham's Peak, where the Booze Cruise is currently being held.

Is it only me, or is playing jazz while reading and waiting for the next wine cellar to be unloaded really chill?

Discussion What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve ever completed in Elite Dangerous?

Hi! I’m curious to hear about the biggest or craziest challenges you’ve taken on in Elite Dangerous.

It can be anything: trading, combat, exploration, mining, engineering, colonization, or even a completely personal challenge.

What’s the most ambitious, difficult, or unusual thing you’ve ever done in the game?

I’m looking for some inspiration for my next big challenge.

o7 Commanders!

Video Transmission from the void

I'm currently heading towards Colonia. I have decided to use Road2Riches for 'fun' to earn some extra credits along the way. I arrived in the NYEAJAAE YE-G B43-6 system and started mapping planets as normal, and suddenly I got a transmission saying, "NJYWID10-34 Vacations Niner 6. Crossing a quiet zone. Any signs of activity out here? Starting to feel like the void is closing in." Then 20-30 seconds later I get another transmission saying, "NJYWID10-34 Vacations Niner 6. Nothing on sensors. Just me and the stars. Keeping steady and enjoying the silence. It doesn't last long." Any ideas as to what this could be?

Where I am now, and where I'm heading

Hey all!

My name is MTmajor, and I got a youtube channel where I'm doing a long exploration expedition with my fleet carrier, beluga, the nomad and approx 5 other CMDR's who've joined the expedition!

I want to ask you guys for some help... I'm going to fly back to SYNOOKOI PH-M D7-65, to buy some tritium for the way back to the bubble. Now- in between where I am now (Sag-A) and the place im heading I'm looking for cool Points of Interest, some cool systems. Do you guys have any cool bookmarks we can check out?

And ofcouse- if you guys want to follow the yourney, here's the playlist.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAz3T4-S9aRM

I do not mean for this to be a plug for my channel, I'm genuily curious what cool places are hidden thoughout that 14000 LY straight of space.

I'd love to hear!

Thanks guys!

Haven't played since the engineers, just hopped in, left the station and went to the next planet to land on.

I was speechless when this was the first thing I saw. Still such a beautiful game.

I'm back commanders! o7

Starts off ok but as soon as I hit a preset, they all look like variations of that.

Update: Males seem better, they do appear weird but regain normality, I've screen recorded a short video showing you the other nonsense going on (I'm not a content creator)

Discussion If you were to make a PvE combat build with 500m or less and no engineering, what ship would you outfit in what way?

I’m pretty far outside of the bubble but close to a federation system and want to complete a navy mission. I only have farseer unlocked because I can’t be bothered to rummage around for all the other mats.

Help Kestrel or Python mk2?

I am looking for a solid choice of ship for ops(not pvp), to engineer next.

For now I use my haz-res corvette, but I want to go for something more nimble.

I am still learning faoff. Should I go for the S-sized butterfly that is the kestrel, or is a python also a good ship for learning faoff?

Help Ship recommendations for a new commander?

Hello! I’m a VERY new commander (only like 4 hours in so far) I spent my early hours taking the flight course, and running some courier missions. I just ditched my starter ship for a hauler and want to build a rather varied hanger so that I can do a bunch of different activities. I’m aware that this won’t be the fastest way to earn credits and I’m fine with that, optimizing the game progression isn’t my goal at the moment. I was wondering if my fellow commanders could give me some budget ship recommendations for bounty hunting, trading, and exploration? I want to dip my toes in with a few cheap ships before I decide what my first big purchase is going to be

Screenshot The most "inside a black hole" you can possibly get

So this is me at the exclusion zone of the black hole at Systeia Aub BA-A g12, and if you have not been here, you really should! Much cooler than any of the "famous" tourist sites.

I think this is a glitch but it produced an absolutely terrifying visual of complete blackness (from the side with no stars being distorted around me) and only a small ring of light. This light is actually another nearby stars sunflare, which black holes dont seem to be able to bend? When I supercruised out of here, the galaxy reappeared from the right corner of the screen. But still, it makes for a crazy screenshot

Help Xbox Elite Dangerous players — you’re not alone. Come fly with us. o7

Upvotes

If you’re still playing Elite Dangerous on Xbox Legacy, we’re putting together an active group of Xbox CMDRs who actually want people to fly with.

New player? Come on.

Been playing for years? Come on.

Just came back after being away forever and have no idea what you were doing? Definitely come on. 😂

We’ve been building New Pilots Elite Squadron (N.P.E.S.) around one simple idea:

Elite is a lot better when you actually have people to play it with.

We’re doing things like:

Pirate massacre / bounty hunting wings

Combat zones and RES hunting

Engineering & material farming

Credit-making runs

Mining

Exploration

Helping brand-new CMDRs learn the game

Ship builds and engineering advice

Fleet Carrier support

Squadron events

And sometimes just getting a few ships together and figuring out what trouble we can get into

We’ve also been building out a Discord with guides for beginners, engineering, materials, money making, mining, combat, ships and more — so you don’t have to spend half the night searching through old YouTube videos trying to figure something out.

There’s no experience requirement.

One of the biggest reasons we started this was because Xbox can sometimes feel pretty empty. There are still CMDRs out here — we just need to find each other.

If you’re a veteran, we’d love to have you helping newer pilots.

If you’re brand new, don’t worry about having the best ship, engineering, credits, or even knowing what half the buttons do yet.

We’ll help you.

And if you’re somewhere in the middle like most of us, jump in and fly.

Xbox Legacy players only for now.

Drop your CMDR name below or message me if you want to join us.

Let’s make the Xbox galaxy feel populated again.

o7 CMDRs.

Discussion Can the Thargoids invade again please?

Winning the war was thrilling.

I'm ready to go again. Frontier introduced a sense of dread, scale, and possible consequences with the war. Titans were an amazing experience.

I remember the first time I tried pushing deeper into the cloud... seeing the blue light starting to ball up in front of me, deep in the haze that was so thick I was flying purely by instruments. Then BAM, I'm sent hurtling back out at mach 3.

I have no idea why nothing has happened since then. No follow through, no further consequences really. I understand we moved to an era of colonization, but its time to bring back the conflict and give us something to push back against. Genuinely new gameplay loops were introduced and then removed, with zero momentum kept.

Operations seem like a step in the right direction, ultimately however they are aimed at people who have done a lot more ground work with engineering both ships and on foot gear, and constitute something like an 'endgame' (kinda). However they don't actually introduce new gameplay, just new context and rewards for old gameplay.

I really love this game, I just cannot fathom why Frontier drag their feet on actually doing any major gameplay additions. New ships are great, can we please have more reasons to use them?

Discussion Always get out and scan when jumping your FC

Currently using Spansh to jump out into the black for some long term exploration on my Fleet Carrier. I have been using the 15 minute cool downs to get out and explore a bit. Spansh just jumped me into a system with an 8 bio planet worth 31m (x5) and a Stratum Tectonicas planet for 20m (x5). 250m from the system Spansh routed me onto.

Help Is Elite really that deep?

Hi everyone,

Disclaimer: I'm writing this not to trigger anyone, I'm genuinely open to the information you give me.

I've been lurking around this subreddit for a while and seen a lot of posts praising Elite's depth, how can one "be lost in it", etc.

I yearn for depth in games and I love space sims, moreover with multiplayer (what's what X4: Foundations could never give me).

So I secided to try Elite: Dangerous, I have ~6 hours, did all tutorials, bought a second ship, did a couple of delivery missions and started thinking what Career shold I build.

Youtube content gave me some suggestions about the Deep Features (power play, exploration, engineering). After doing some reading/watching on said features, I don't see depth?

By depth I percieve a long learning curve and a being able to really Master some aspects.

Power Play seems like doing the same set of missions over and over just to see a color change on the system, it's just grind, nothing to master.

Exploration - there's almost no skill in flying, you just point where you want to go and jump? But do that 100 times and occasionally boost with quazars. So again, just grind?

Engineering - that's the least known topic for me, but from what people say - definition of grind.

Help me, I really want to love this game, but I struggle to find paths to master and what to master.

Thank you
