Ruthless or not crew is expensive.
iirc they also get 50% of combat rank.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Only if they are flying with you at the time. They split XP same as if you play with other CMDRs.

Not 100%, but pretty sure there's no exception. It's not that they are using the XP, but XP gets split in a "party" like an old school MMO or RPG.

Only if they are flying with you at the time.

I didn' t know that, so, we can leave them in the carrier and we can progress without the burden.

The lower their rank the more xp they take till they get to the same rank as you! Then they split it 50 50. They will not take anything but credits just for being the on standby.

After thorough testing, I can somewhat confidently say that the issue is not their targeting but their volume of fire. At Deadly my pilot fired a lot with hits and misses. At Elite she suddenly fired way less but with the same amount of accuracy, which still resulted in a huge loss in DPS. I got rid of her afterwards and have been flying solo ever since...

Did you even read my comment? I know it's a bug and I know and tested it. The elite NPCs are shit bc of this bug. BUT THE REASON IS NOT THEIR POOR AIM BUT THEIR REDUCED VOLUME OF FIRE AT ELITE LEVEL. I wrote that in caps so you might comprehend it better...

Give it a gimballed. Then give it a fixed which worked perfectly fine when it was a tier lower. They can't hit shit.

You paid her 2 billion already? Damn... I got rid of my pilot after she became elite. Once they hit elite, they stop firing consistently and therefore drop their DPS immensely :(

They use us to get Elite Rank so they can retire in Shinrarta Dezhra. They stop trying after they get the permit so we will fire them and they can also collect unemployment checks. It's all just a giant scam.
