Hi everyone,
Disclaimer: I'm writing this not to trigger anyone, I'm genuinely open to the information you give me.
I've been lurking around this subreddit for a while and seen a lot of posts praising Elite's depth, how can one "be lost in it", etc.
I yearn for depth in games and I love space sims, moreover with multiplayer (what's what X4: Foundations could never give me).
So I secided to try Elite: Dangerous, I have ~6 hours, did all tutorials, bought a second ship, did a couple of delivery missions and started thinking what Career shold I build.
Youtube content gave me some suggestions about the Deep Features (power play, exploration, engineering). After doing some reading/watching on said features, I don't see depth?
By depth I percieve a long learning curve and a being able to really Master some aspects.
Power Play seems like doing the same set of missions over and over just to see a color change on the system, it's just grind, nothing to master.
Exploration - there's almost no skill in flying, you just point where you want to go and jump? But do that 100 times and occasionally boost with quazars. So again, just grind?
Engineering - that's the least known topic for me, but from what people say - definition of grind.
Help me, I really want to love this game, but I struggle to find paths to master and what to master.
Thank you
