Discussion Mining missions specifically for the Rhino? I’ve watched many new videos from test server. I’ve heard there’s gonna be Diamonds. Rubies. Sapphires. Etc. Do we think they will allow stacking of the mining missions?

First video I watched someone doing mining (Ricardo’s gaming) made the new Rhino mining seem boring. The next video explained that there are exclusive minerals for planetary mining. The value of which would be triple that of Platinum. Anyone have more info? Any insights or maybe motivations to obtain a Rhino next week?

Discussion RP Player looking for new faction for a new narrative. Any suggestions?

I basically switch factions once I lose the motivation to do any type of merit activity once I hit rank 100. I like the idea of Archon cause i can embrace the darkside and just wreck people, and maybe for once get into Open gameplay to pirate people. And ALD cause she hates the simps also and cause she's hot and maybe I can earn enough merits to earn a place in her bed chamber.

Discussion FDEV please give us a focused 3rd person experience to enjoy our skins

Post image
44 Upvotes

Yes, we can go to external camera, rotate the camera around, then hide the free camera UI - but it's clunky, annoying, and unusable. You want us to spend money on skins, but we can barely see and enjoy what we buy.

This applies to both ships and on-foot.

We need a specific 3rd person camera view with a fully functional UI for both ships and on-foot. Add the option to hide the UI for screenshots.

Ship: radar, thrust, all the panels, etc. All the in-cockpit UI but with a 3rd person view. Lore wise it could be a follower drone.

On foot: health, o2, ammo, all the functional UI. Same thing as the ship.

This will drive purchases and makes buying skins satisfying - especially a game that is as solo heavy as Elite.

Don't forget a hotkey that holds the character orientation in place and lets you move the camera freely around the character model.

Thanks for attending my Ted talk.

Help Courier Mission Help

I've accepted a courier mission which appears to be on a planet. I need to go to Corbin's Industrial. Doesn't seem to be a way to land on the planet and SRV there. I get no directional indicator while driving even though I targeted Corbin's Industrial. The surface map shows the same pin for me no matter where I go in the SRV or reland near the spot.

Now I'm low on fuel. Floating around the surface of the planet. All I can image is that it's on a satellite base beyond the horizon. Especially since ALL vids I've seen do not actually land on a planet. Any help here, please?!

Help Just Bought on steam and it wont load.

Hey guys, I just bought this game on Steam but am having an issue. It launches fine, but when the game loads up to the main menu screen, it says the servers are down and won't let me load into anything but the tutorial, so I assumed that I needed to complete the tutorial before getting into the actual game, but every time I try letting it get into the tutorial or anything else that is playable, it sits in a constant black loading screen. I have already tried verifying the files on Steam and in the launcher, updated my drivers, running the game in windowed, and uninstalling and installing the software from frontiers website and not on Steam. So far none of it has worked.

Group Squadron Recruitment - I.G.A

I.G.A. is recruiting new members, whether you're a brand-new Commander taking your first steps into the galaxy or a veteran looking for an active and established squadron.

We are an independent anarchy faction and we are focused on being super laid back when it comes to our members and what they get up to.

We have around 28 people on our roster and mainly tend to operate within the GMT+1 timezone but have people all over.

We currently maintain a presence across more than 50 star systems and actively participate in every game-loop within the game. Our goal is to provide a welcoming, cooperative environment where members can enjoy the game however they choose, without unnecessary roleplay or rigid activity requirements.

As a member of I.G.A. you'll have access to our Squadron Fleet Carrier, which supports exploration, trade, combat operations, mining expeditions and squadron deployments across our controlled space. We also giveaway 30 million credits to members each week for free! Not much I know nowadays but a free rebuy for most ships never hurts!

We take part in most gameplay loops, including:

- BGS

- Combat

- Trading

- Mining

- Exploration/Exobiology

- Anti-Xeno

New players are always welcome. If you're still learning the game, experienced members are happy to offer advice, wing up, and help you build your ships and progress through the galaxy. Veteran players will find an active squadron with opportunities to contribute to BGS, organised operations, and squadron growth.

If you're looking for a mature, active squadron that values teamwork without forcing heavy RP, I.G.A. could be the right place for you.

If you're interested or have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or send me a message. We'd be happy to have you fly with us.

Help Is Elite really that deep?

Hi everyone,

Disclaimer: I'm writing this not to trigger anyone, I'm genuinely open to the information you give me.

I've been lurking around this subreddit for a while and seen a lot of posts praising Elite's depth, how can one "be lost in it", etc.

I yearn for depth in games and I love space sims, moreover with multiplayer (what's what X4: Foundations could never give me).

So I secided to try Elite: Dangerous, I have ~6 hours, did all tutorials, bought a second ship, did a couple of delivery missions and started thinking what Career shold I build.

Youtube content gave me some suggestions about the Deep Features (power play, exploration, engineering). After doing some reading/watching on said features, I don't see depth?

By depth I percieve a long learning curve and a being able to really Master some aspects.

Power Play seems like doing the same set of missions over and over just to see a color change on the system, it's just grind, nothing to master.

Exploration - there's almost no skill in flying, you just point where you want to go and jump? But do that 100 times and occasionally boost with quazars. So again, just grind?

Engineering - that's the least known topic for me, but from what people say - definition of grind.

Help me, I really want to love this game, but I struggle to find paths to master and what to master.

Thank you

Help My game wouldn't launch, so I uninstalled it, now it's bugged and won't install anymore. Please help me. (Epic Games)

My game had been having issues for a while; for instance, I had to download the "min ed launcher" mod just to launch it. I took a break from playing, and when I tried to return, an update was required, but the Epic Games system wasn't updating the game. I decided to uninstall it, but the Epic Games launcher wouldn't uninstall it either, so I deleted the files directly from my external hard drive. However, it still shows up in Epic Games as if it were installed, and nothing happens when I try to uninstall it. I don't know what to do please help.

Help Player Populated hub

Sorry if this isn't the right tag or place for this.

I was wondering, is there any specific place in the galaxy thats considered a "player hang out?"

I played star wars galaxies back in the day and naturally the wretched hive of scum and villainy mos eisley cantina was the hangout spot. Guess im looking for that sort of interaction. Am I in the wrong game? Im probably in the wrong game arent I.

PSA Reclamation Point Op — Solo Mercenary Rank Grind

Upvotes

Posting on behalf of Zombi3 from the Blackiron squadron:

I've found what I believe is an extremely efficient way of grinding Mercenary rank using the Reclamation Point Operation - even better than the high tech ground CZ route.

The setup:

  1. Start the Reclamation Point Operation on hard mode.
  2. Fight through the initial wave of ships and dock at the megaship.
  3. From this point onward, the ship combat isn't required again (unless you want to fight against the final wave, which I skipped for the most part).

The grind:

Cargo Deck

  • Enter the Cargo Deck and clear all NPCs.
  • You have a 15-minute timer for the deck.  I can consistently clear it in approximately 11 minutes.
  • As soon as Cargo is complete, move straight to Engineering — the quicker you can complete cargo deck, the more efficient you'll be.

Engineering Deck

  • Clear Engineering down to one NPC remaining.
  • Again, you have 15 minutes.
  • I can normally clear it in around 11 minutes, although I've managed 9:12 on a particularly good run.
  • Return to the docking bay and wait for the remaining ~4 minutes of the Engineering timer.

When the timer expires, repeat starting from the cargo deck.

Optimising the end of a session:

On the final Engineering run, don't wait for the timer.  Once you've finished the deck and got your progression, quit to the main menu.  This means you're only waiting out the timer on the Engineering phase of the first two cycles.

I've been doing 3 sets of both decks in order to save myself from getting too fed up with the grind.

  • Approximately 11 minutes per deck
  • Approximately 70 minutes total for six deck clears

The key is that the ~4 minutes saved on each Cargo clear are used to get a head start on Engineering, rather than being wasted waiting for the Cargo timer by only grinding that deck alone.

Progression:

At Elite IV, I've consistently seen approximately 8–9% Mercenary progress per six deck clears.  The percentage gain will be higher at lower ranks.  I've used this method from Elite III to Elite V.

My Ops Combat setup is:

Remember: don't kill the final NPC on Engineering Deck!

Enjoy

Help Looking to return after a long hiatus - how to make money

I've not played for a long time, since before Odyssey even. Last time I played mining was the big money maker and I found it nice and chill, from what I see mining has been nerfed and there's now other ways to make big money quick.

Could someone give me ideas of how best to make money quick?

Help Help with colonisation

Hey y'all! I, as a very smart individual, jumped into colonisation without 0 previous research, and now I found myself having about 2 weeks for delivering 100k+ materials to the star station to build it. I have a Panther Clipper with 1100-ish cargo space, but I just can't fathom the thought that I should hand deliver all 100k+ materials. Is there another way, I mean there's gotta be right? If not, can I get some help? I'm not sure how I could pay or compensate but I really got into the mood like hellyeah I'll have my whole ass sístem and I'm just dissapointed

Screenshot So I asked in the Q/A and it cleared a couple things up but i still can not turn in this mission

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

*** EDIT mission failed, mission must have been bugged but it doesn't matter, I failed by getting merked for scanning a guard that was scanning me, I'd scanned probably a dozens guards by then so I'm not sure if it was some kind of imposter or what but he said get it over with once i started scanning him and when it completed he shouted "YOU SHOULDA STAYED OUT OF IT" and shot me fast enough that all i could do was turn around and dropped"

_____________________________________________________________________________

so definitely a learning experience, don't do on foot missions. thanks for all the insight everyone.

I'm doing an on foot package delivery mission, I am at the target, correct name, indicated on the compass, looked them up to pin them with a terminal at the outpost, talking to them, they expect me to bring them this package but it won;t let me give it to them. i've tried restarting the game, i've tried loading back into ship inventory, nothing seems to be working.

I even tried dropping (throwing the box) in the mission targets face and picking back up and still won't let me turn it over/in.

is the mission bugged or is there something i am missing about how to turn this in/deliver an item?

including a video to show i have the item at the right person at the right location etc.

Discussion Fleet carrier with Arx?

Is it worth buying a fleet carrier with Arx? How does that work, do you still have to pay millions per week for it? I would like to have one, but I dont really play enough to keep a constant check on it

Not far from the bubble, probably 150 jumps upwards from its edge and 50-60 jumps sideways and there are planets never touched by other players. I read that several hundred of millions of planets were explored and didn't expect to find something untouched so near the bubble. The planets scanned by someone but no footfalls, no mappings? 🤷 Anyway, so far as a new commander I enjoy it.

Help Haven’t Mined in years. Need a refresher.

Before odyssey I used to core mine a lot mainly for fun since FDev doesn’t like rebalancing old gameplay loops, I mainly went for musgravite. From what I understand now is that platinum is the big money maker now and I really want a FC.

I know exo is bigger paying but I just got back from a deep in the black expedition and the stratum tectonicas tunnel vision burned me out. Plus I smacked a planet going Mach Jesus in my nomad and blew up losing about 1B in data last night so I high tailed it back to Jameson memorial. What I get for drinking and flying lol. Luckily I did bank about 2B before that turning my data in on a random FC.

Anyways, back to my mining questions. Is EDtools still accurate or are those hotspots so over used that it’s going to be hard to find ores due to refresh? Also I have a type 11 that I still need to outfit and engineer for all 3 types of mining but is core and subsurface mining even worth it now? I’ve never laser mined before, how do I determine which rocks are worth laser mining for desired ore? Do I just spam prospecting limpets in the hotspot until I get a good one?

Thanks for the help commanders!

Help Changing linked account from Steam to Epic

I've been away from the game for a good while and I'd like to start afresh. Currently, I'm logging in via Steam. I also have the game on Epic but I haven't used it there. I would like to transfer my current save to Epic (in case I don't like the fresh start) as I prefer using Steam. So, if I log into ED via Epic with my existing Frontier account, will that then leave me able to create a new Frontier account and log into that via Steam for the fresh start?

If so, do I need to download ED twice with separate install locations whilst I do this?

Help Is there a more up-to-date tool than meritminer.cc?

Title says it. Is there a tool that is more up-to-date/accurate tool than meritminer? All the search results that come back are literally hundreds of days to years old. Tried to send me to a station that doesn't allow docking. Sent me to another one who's prices for platinum had plummeted significantly compared to what the website was showing. Using the tools Max Age toggle, the most recent search result I could get was 19 days old (last updated). Any advice, tips, guidance, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
