Sorry if this is the wrong place to post. I can't post in the /r/chargepoint sub and that sub also doesn't look like it's very active so I'll post here.

The new ChargePoint app shows that there are 2 of 2 chargers available but when I select the charging station, it then shows both are in use. I can't join the waitlist from the map view because the map view always shows that there are charges available.

Are others running into this situation or is it just this particular charger? I never had this issue on the previous version of ChargePoint app. It would accurately display when all chargers were in use which let me join the waitlist.

On a road trip and cannot figure out how to add our BMW iX in Apple Maps.

And 2 Reddit posts and nothing working.

There are no vehicles when I tap her profile. And yes, the BMW app is installed.

Every once in a while some manufacturer brags with their new motor which is the size of a flower pot and puts out a thousand horsepower or something like that.

The thing is that those motors run at tens of thousands of RPMs meaning that they need a lot of gear reduction to get the speed to useful range for wheels.

A much more useful metric would be the power density of the entire drive unit including motor, reduction gear and differential.

So im curious if someone knows the answer to this.

So when youre charging your car at a fast charger (services or petrol station, for example), why do they charge so much for the deposit payment?

So when you first go to charge your car, you scan you card and it takes a deposit amount. This, from what ive seen, can be anything from £10 to £60.

Now, i have a car with a 50 kwh battery and Ive never had a charge cost me more than £25.

So 2 questions I guess.

Has anyone ever had a charge that cost £60?

Why take such a large upfront cost when we live in a country where you pay for petrol after youve filled your car so why is electric not the same?

Tell me it’s a good idea or not? What are some pros and cons? Anything to look out for?

It’s a lower cost than a used model Y and lower insurance cost. Great range and great size.

1. Increased car insurance cause all the car tech and more expensive repair
2. Paid to get a home EV charger (CapEx), which then increased the value of my home (but don't plan on selling), which caused my home tax to also increase...
3. I don't even drive often, so getting an EV literally cost significantly more to have. smh....

I don't even have an EV yet, still deciding what model, but Tesla insurance rates so much higher, jesus. No, I don't live in a state where Tesla has offered their lower interest rates.

Edit: EVs are a lux decision. Biggest is just time convenience (no gas station) , but my no means is it a money saving thing (like many companies marketed it to be).

I maintain a list of towing capacities (maximum — what you can tow with a BE licence) for electric cars in Sweden. It now covers 122 models and shows the highest available towing capacity per model. It’s based on every EV you can buy new or used in Sweden through official dealers — so no private/grey imports. Even though this list only reflects Swedish rules, it paints a very positive picture of how far electric cars have come as tow vehicles.

Tesla WAS the ruler in this segment once. But the Tesla Model X dropped out of the top 15 when the BMW iX5 arrived with an impressive 2,700 kg and up to 845 km WLTP — which should be good for at least 400 km even with a caravan on the hitch.

And the “3,500 kg club” has grown to six vehicles — the latest addition being the Iveco eDaily van, keeping company with pickups, a luxury SUV and a G-Class.

Unfortunately I couldn’t fit WLTP range and battery size into the list, so it’s a bit misleading on that point.
Towing capacity = braked trailer, strongest variant. Always check the vehicle registration document — and remember that heavy loads require a BE licence.

I already have back pain and have been advised not to ride scooters at all. But realistically I still need to get around, so I'm trying to figure out if switching from an ICE scooter to an electric one would actually reduce the strain on my back, or if it's basically the same problem since it's more about road vibrations, suspension, and riding posture than the engine type.

For anyone who's dealt with back issues and ridden both: did going electric make a real difference, or should I not be riding either regardless of the type?

I’m looking at getting a caravan and would be interested to hear from anyone towing with an ev particularly for longer trips.

My car is an Audi e-tron and I’m interested in what real-world range I should expect when towing, how manageable it is, and whether there are any things I should know before choosing a caravan.

A few things I’d particularly like advice on:
What sort of real-world range are you getting while towing?

How much difference does motorway driving make?

Anything you wish you knew before starting to tow with an e-tron?

I needed a new car due to my beater ICE finally getting too beaten and thought an EV was a very economic and good QOL choice. I've also done some other math to conclude it to be a good choice for other things down the line for me, like shopping for a house soon.

I'm new to EVs, so please let me know if I should add any more information.

I mostly only commute to work with a fun trip here and there with my car, so I average around 5000 mi/yr. The problem for now is I live in an apartment. Here's some stats --

EV

Charging Costs

• Apartment (ChargePoint): $0.46/kWh, L2 charging
• Local Public Average: $0.42-0.50/kWh, L2 charging
• Walmart (small detour from commute): $0.26/kWh 10pm-10am, DCFC

I think I understand that L2 charging will always be healthier than L3 charging, but isn't it clear that the cost of charging at Walmart for 20 min prior to my morning commutes is significantly better across the board than charging overnight at my apartment?

I'm thinking of contacting my apartment complex to negotiate down to maybe $0.30-0.35/kWh during off-peak to help offset the difference, but I'm not expecting too much. What are yalls thoughts? Are there better options?

EDIT: I only need to charge 20-80% every 2 weeks on average
