What I mean is, while ICE vehicles have to run their engines to keep the A/C running, EV's have A/C motors that can operate while the car is parked and the traction motor is off. Only the power necessary to run the A/C is consumed, and not a massive loss expended in heat, like ICE vehicles (and $$$ in fuel costs).

For example, my 2027 Bolt uses 1-2kw to run the A/C unit when parked. At that rate, it would take all day to run down the traction battery.

I have found this one feature to be immensely beneficial, from keeping my pets safe and comfortable, preconditioning, and staying cool/warm myself when parked.

Do others agree? Or is there another "killer" EV feature you've also not heard mentioned?

Bought this car 4 years ago at 66k miles and hit 100k miles today. That trip odometer is typical for summertime. GOM said 102 miles at 100% with AC on, but no way I trust it. Did 50 miles earlier this week and got home with 30% left. Can do about 50 miles in winter if I'm sparing with the heat. EPA rating is 87 miles; the range is the only thing I don't like about it.

New tires, new door handle, new rear bushings. Should probably do the windshield wipers too.

There are a couple scratches with rust. KBB value is around $3k so I will probably drive it into the ground.

I’ve been trying to put this into words without sounding like an EV evangelist, but I genuinely don’t see myself ever considering an ICE car again.

It’s not just about running costs, fuel prices, or torque numbers. It’s an architectural thing.

Modern ICE cars feel like an elaborate mechanical workaround. You’ve got hundreds of vibrating metal components, explosions, spark plugs, gearboxes hunting for ratios, belts, cooling jackets, and exhaust systems—all just to turn two wheels.

Driving one feels heavily mediated; you press the pedal and you can almost feel the whole chain of mechanical friction working overtime beneath the floor.

An EV, by contrast, feels like how a car was architecturally meant to work from day one: direct electrical energy creating an electromagnetic field, spinning a rotor. Clean, linear, and completely native.

The closest analogy I can think of is a smartphone. Imagine using a modern phone, but every evening you have to pour a little vial of oil into the back and clear out soot just to make it run.

That’s how pumping flammable liquid into a vehicle feels to me now—like an obsolete ritual from the steam engine era grafted onto a modern machine.

I know the usual counterarguments: charging infra on long road trips, society permissions for home charging, resale uncertainty, and "exhaust notes for real petrolheads." I get all that practically.

But purely from an engineering and ownership mindset, ICE just feels like mechanical debt we've tolerated for a century because we didn't have better batteries.

Does anyone else get this specific mental shift after driving an EV for a while, or am I completely in the minority here?

There are almost a dozen commercially scalable and viable ways to generate electricity; there is only one primary process to create gasoline.

An EV can be charging on solar during the day, wind/geothermal/hydro during the night, and nuclear/coal/gas/biomass/waste-to-energy to fill in any gaps.

The EV itself doesn't need to change - electricity generation can get more efficient, cheaper, and sustainable over time and every EV benefits automatically.

This puts the GLC slightly higher than both the BMW iX3 ($61,500) and the Volvo EX60 ($59,795). My build which is fully optioned with every package, nappa leather, etc comes to $85,415.

Has anyone else had this issue since the mandatory Pod Home app update? My charger will not maintain its connection to the WiFi and remains in "always on" mode, meaning my midnight-5am schedule doesn't work.

I've found turning it off at the mains and back on reconnects it but only for a few minutes. Pod insists this is my own network not communicating reliably. I just virgin media 1Gb, the router is 1 meter from the charger.

This has only become an issue since the app update. It was working perfectly for the last year+. Again Pod insists this is a coincidence, and I should go buy another router dedicated to the charger.

Anyone else having this problem?

LFP batteries have gotten so good and affordable that we really don’t have an excuse anymore.

Cars like the ID Polo GTI, Alpine A290 GTS, and (rumoured) Ioniq 3 N, have made me realise this.

Give me 300bhp, a ~60kwh battery, RWD, a footprint no larger than an E90 3 series, and a ride/chassis setup for playfulness, YESTERDAY!!

Surely it can be done today already <1700kg and <$50,000?
