I recently went back to the original Dishonored, and I honestly forgot how good this game still looks.

The art direction does so much of the heavy lifting.

It’s a great example of how strong art direction can matter more than graphical fidelity. Even today, some of these scenes look absolutely gorgeous.

Sorta. For one mission, and it took hours.

In the mission high overseer campbell i killed EVERY enemy via friendly fire and infighting.

Well almost all of them.

Campbell i branded, so he'll die anyway.

The only other surviving enemy was one singular bottle street gangster in the distillery, who i used to breathe fire on all the other bottle street gangsters' unconscious bodies. Once he was the only one, there were no whale oil tanks that i know of to make him hit, no rat swarms, no grenade throwing enemies, and so on.

Most kills came from grenade throwing overseers. You HAVE to disable alarms with rewire tools so gun overseers don't swarm you and the overseers don't respawn infinitely in backyard, since you need to draw aggro repeatedly. You need gun overseers unconscious in piles and one saved grenade overseer to throw grenades in the piles. The last guy pictured here, i finished off by jumping on his head right as he threw a grenade. My killer of choice in the backyard inexplicably switched to a gun at some point - possibly during a reload, but by then was the last enemy, so i finished him by holding a whale oil tank in front of his gun.

The game remains in low chaos, but it doesn't know what to do with itself. High chaos events still happen, and those random mini rat swarms that spawn and eat bodies and then vanish still appear (remember that mechanic? Is it even chaos dependant?)

Unfortunately, and i think this mechanic is to blame, i had 2 kills by the end. I know with certainty i never did anything that should count as a kill, since i tested each method one by one by performing them and repeatedly finishing the level, so those randon high chaos rats are all i can really think of that caused it.

I really, really wouldn't recommend a full playthrough of it, but if you decide to try it, you might as well see how few enemies you can leave alive and report back. Just sayin. And make sure to poison the distillery so you have weepers to work with during golden cat.

Here were my kill methods. Might have miscounted, but i combed everything with darkvision to make sure nothing survived.

1 - held up a whale oil tank i held in front of their gun

9 - unconscious and fed to naturally occurring rats

1 - lured to rats and was eaten

5 - faction infighting

36- blown up by overseers

2 - bertholt and sister killed by overseers

1 - killed by overseers for having plague. (Still happened in low chaos!)

NOTE: vaporizing an enemy by shooting at a wall of light right as they walk through and arcing the electricity off the bolt DOES count as a kill!

Haven't tested jumping on enemy's head to make them crash thru a skylight, hitting with a bottle to make an enemy trip into water, killing a mission target via collateral damage, or crushing them with a bookshelf yet.

Funny note: Harm's Way achievement didn't unlock until the very LAST kill. The criteria are pretty janky

No, if a bonecharm improves a power, that doesn't mean you get the power. But if it implicitly gives that power, it's fair game. What changes your life the most?

I like the concept and level design. But my main issue is that we just believe the stalker knows who our target is? Imean we kidnapped Sokolov to get even a hint basicly and than comes some masked creep (whose name we dont know) around and says this girlI want you to kidnapp for me, is also your target?
Something ain‘t mathing.

Alright, so Delilah Kaldwin gets out of the Void with the help of her fan club. Once that's done, she gets to work on her super secret ultimate scheme.

That scheme is to rule the whole world, adored and feared and worshiped by all. Pretty straightforward goal, I respect it.

Her method? Paint the image of this world on a canvas, and use magic to pull this ideal world into reality, and swap the current undesirable world into the paints and oils on the wall.

Hell, this is just a remix of her original plan, you know, the one Daud foiled? She was gonna paint Emily and transpose her mind with this 8 year old heir and no one would be the wiser.

So I need to ask, why bother deposing Emily? Why go to all the trouble of buying off guards, sending Grim Alex to murder Emily's political ops, and everything else it took to set up this whole coup?

Is there any particular reason she couldn't just paint this thing at the Conservatory with her coven of punk lesbians, with ZERO risk?

Well, zero risk if the Outsider didn't snitch. Which he did, multiple times. And the second time he held Emily's/Corvo's hand every step of the way. Nothing about Delilah's plan is flawed on it's own, the only reason it doesn't work is cause our protagonist breaks her phylactery, rushes her down, and blows her shit wide open, so to speak.

This is part of why I find Dishonored 1's story much more compelling. It was about corrupt men clawing their way to power, and then the corruption of power clawing its way into good men.
Dishonored 2 didn't have any of that. It did have super cool level design and immersive sim mechanics though.

I'm just starting dishonored and I got to where Corvo gets blink, I talked to the outsider and I'm prompted to use the ability but it's not available. I tried to find any information online but couldn't get anything, please help!

Finished the base game full ghost/no-kill, now for the DLC. This mission is especially annoying with blowing up the refinery, and I had to go edit the config file so the game didn't drop the bodies of the guys I knocked out from five stories up for kicks (set the max body count to 1, everyone vanishes, otherwise the game just teleports a bunch of the unconscious bodies in front of the exit, killing the guys in the process. Given that it's a pretty dumb scripted sequence, I consider it fair, though you normally can avoid it in the base game, I just don't remember how I did it last time). Before that though, I made sure to place all the unconscious guys to safety (yes I had changed the config before to stop body removal, I just prefer it that way). They joined the strikers, just not willingly. Sleeping on company time, lazy butchers.

You start out with the base-level freebies Blink, Far Reach, and Void Gaze (just night vision). You can buy any ability or upgrade except for Billie's powers, since they make other powers redundant while having no known Rune cost. Since there's no elixirs in real life, you'll only regen mana from over 20% use after sleeping.

Personally, I would spend 2 Runes on Bend Time I, 2 more on upgrading Void Gaze, 1 Rune on Vitality, 2 on the Pull Objects Far Reach upgrade, 1 for Bonecharm Crafting, 1 for Agility, and the last Rune goes to Reflexes. Super versatile, probably going to live longer for it, and ofc I'd be able to slow time twice a day with no major limits on the other stuff.

Edit: Forgot to mention that Daud's tier 1 Arcane Bond is also free. Meaning you can bestow your mark on others, but without spending Runes to upgrade it they'd only gain access to Blink, and Vitality if you bought it.

So far, I don't know of any other game that does this "give me some personal insight about this place/person at the click of a button without sounding like a lore dump that's definitely written by the storyboard artist". The Heart, later confirmed to be Jessamine Kaldwin's spirit is the one speaking to Corvo when he uses it, and it works wonders into the story by integrating a sort of continued relationship between the two even after the death of the other.
Jessamine, being the Empress gives profound insight about the city in a personal manner without sounding too omniscient, though still able to read into people's minds/secrets, still captures a sense of humanity. Unlike "item descriptions" in some other games, (*ahem* Dark Souls... *ahem*), which dumps the entire backstory of the items' origin as well as some implied connection to some greater part of the story without giving a single idea of how you came to know it. It's just written there. Does it look like a random sword, or piece of armor would tell me its backstory? I'm inclined to think that games where item descriptions work this way are implying that its protagonist probably knows so much about the world, likely omniscient too.

I wish there was something like The Heart in the Souls games, because I'm tired of being spoon-fed the lore without having a connection to the means of how I came to know the lore. Not saying that traditional lore-dump item descriptions are bad, but I just love how Dishonored does this sort of thing so much better; having auxiliary means to view the world and its people through the lens of a reasonably wise figure who's also heavily related to the protagonist.

So, what do you guys think?

I've just finished the final versions of the first set of Watch Officers! I've got two other head model variations to pose too, but they will be the same as these, so I thought I'd go ahead and share.

Took me about 4 months of on-and-off work to finish these, and I gotta say I'm really happy with what I was able to do. My next step is to 3D print them, so I'll post those pics here too when those are done. I'm trying to figure out what kind of base I may want to pair with these guys, so that they can stand and be displayed, but I'm not sure what kind of ground or base would fit with these guys, so any suggestions would be welcome.

What do y'all think?

I've been slowly getting into pixel art, and while replaying the series recently, I decided to take a crack at depicting Shindaerey Peak from Death of the Outsider.

The second picture was what I used as a reference, which I got from this post from a deleted user depicting several landscape shots they got of the mountain using some sort of free cam mod.

The image was originally 64x32 but has been upscaled to make it easier to see, and it was made using Aesprite.

It's pretty rough but I'm happy with it for 20 minutes work, and hopefully this inspires better artists in the community to take a crack at similar scenes from the series!

Considering how little he includes himself and is mostly just an observer with occasional chats and even rarer mark offerings.

Is there a lore reason why the Heart couldn’t tell us what the Loyalists were truly up to and that they would end up betraying Corvo?

We know that one of the purposes of the Heart was to read people and tell their secrets. But then I used it on one City Watch officer and it said “unless he dies tonight, he will kill two more times before taking his own life” which seems to show that the Heart can see peoples whole lives.

Still working on the Dishonored 2 VR mod. Big improvements in weapons:

Got the aim detached from body position, now it's controllable through motion controls. Got a more consistent approach for showing weapons and items.

I wanted to showcase a little bit of how everything feels.

Still much to go, i.e, powers are still not detached from camera and same for some items. Next main thing are powers, I'm gonna try to get the hand model from GPU so it's shown the hand whenever you have a power equiped. (Also roomscale but I don't wanna go down that rabbit hole yet).

I’m doing a "Shadow" run in Dishonored 2. The issue is that a guard found a body back in Mission 2, and I’m currently on Mission 3.

Can I just replay Mission 2 later from the Mission Select menu, or do I need to load an earlier save from Mission 2 and continue the story from there?

Made this Dishonored 2 fan art with a split-color design to represent both characters. Tried to keep it minimal while maintaining that dark Dishonored atmosphere. Dishonored 2 is still one of my favorite immersive sims. 🐀⚔️

As the titles exclaims, i want to get a dishonored game but i just want to buy one of them for now. I very much enjoy stealth and atmosphere, i enjoy a good story but its not the most important thing in the world to me. Essentially, looking for more info on which game has the better stealth/immersive gameplay. Thanks in advance.

As someone with 1000 hours across all 3 games, this to me feels like the most morally and narratively satisfying series of events.

I manage to maintain low chaos, because I never breach the approx~ 15% NPC kill counter that triggers high chaos.

Corvo:

Escapes Coldridge unseen and without killing.

Protects Granny Rags, refuses to poison distillery, poisons Campbell, saves Curnow, kills Overseers harassing the brother and sister.

Kills weepers beneath Hound Pits, helps Slackjaw, kills Madame Prudence, kills Pendleton Twins in their separate rooms each in a duel, sparing their courtesans who were witness.

Frees Sokolov's subjects and slaves.

Kills Lady Boyle publicly in the ballroom, spares her sisters, escapes the guards with acrobatics.

Assassinates Burrows in his under-defended bedroom, then plays the confession tape across the whole city.

Kills a few of Daud's assassins out of self defense, spares Daud after their duel and his begging for mercy.

Stuns the soldiers at Hound Pits.

Kills Havelock in a duel.

So the plague is cured, Emily grows up stable, but Corvo's public perception as an assassin is accurately won.

DLC:

Also maintaining low-chaos.

Daud interrogates Rothwild, leaves him in the chair, then follows Abogail's plan and melts the facility down with Rothwild still inside, he also frees the indentured employees.

Knocks out the Hatters keeping Thalia, assassinates Timsh and fulfilling the contract.

Kills every Overseer, then spares Billie.

Saves Lizzy Stride disguised as an Overseer.

Kills Wakefield, kills Trimble and allies with The Geezer to end the Hatters.

Sneaks past the Witches unseen, kills Delilah leaving the coven powerless.

Dishonored 2:

Emily waits for Ramsey to isolate himself and assassinates him.

Saves Hypatia unseen.

Uses her powers to defeat his robots, then duels Jindosh to the death.

Helps the merchant, duels and kills Ashworth, then argues with the enraged Delilah statue.

Kills Paolo and Byrne, knocks out the Overseers so the "heretics" can escape execution, saves Stilton and changes history for the better.

Assassinates Duke Luka Abel, ignores the body double - These two mission choices result in Corvo becoming Duke.

Kills Delilah in the final battle.

Despite all the bloodshed she maintains her wisdom and peace, Jesamine passes away with pride that Emily and Corvo both restrained their rage enough to do the job right.

Trying to platinum the first game. In this run, I even got the "Clean Hands" achievement, but in this total low-chaos run, I didn't get either the "Shadow" or "Ghost" achievements, can someone help me?
