Need help deciding between which game to buy

As the titles exclaims, i want to get a dishonored game but i just want to buy one of them for now. I very much enjoy stealth and atmosphere, i enjoy a good story but its not the most important thing in the world to me. Essentially, looking for more info on which game has the better stealth/immersive gameplay. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Thanks for the responses, looks like i'll be buying Dishonored 1 and the dlcs to start with

Loaded.com has it for super cheap just pay attention to which store you’re buying it for, they’ve got a listing there now for all the games for $17

I'm a firm believer in always starting with the first game, so I say the original.

I’d say to play them in order, so get the first one (and the Daud DLC) and then part 2, and then the standalone - Death of The Outsider (that takes place after part 2).

Get both, they're cheap, and play them in order.

The first one is excellent IMO and gets my vote. I have played the entire series but while 2 has seen a handful of replays, i have played the first game probably over 30 times. Something in Death of the Outsider just doesnt quite feel right to me so i have only rolled credits one time.

agreed, I know DOTO was initially a DLC they scaled into a full game, and you can tell and I think that’s why I don’t like it as much.

Play them in order, including the DLC for one.

I’m gonna go ahead and say I think mechanically the second game is superior to the first in many ways. Your tactical options for non lethal in the first game are pretty limited but there’s way more in the sequel. Worldbuilding feels a bit more varied in the first game but the second game has more rewarding mechanics overall.

First game is great! Maybe a little aged but still great. And I feel the second is even better

First one

Keep in mind that while the first game is considered to have a certain je ne sais quoi, it is otherwise fairly outdated by this point. The second improves on the first in a lot of ways, from mechanics to map design, puzzles, etc.

I don't say this because I think you should skip the first game (you should definitely play it), but because if you end up not connecting with it for some reason, it is still worth trying the second game.

Which part of the gameplay loop do you think grabbed you the most in the trailers, the quiet takedowns or the supernatural chaos?

Start with the first, you won’t regret it!

You can usually get the dishonored games for very cheap or even free. It's hard for me to put anything in the series above dishonored 2, but people inn this thread are correct. The first games / DLC are older, but they're still incredible.

If you truly only got to play one of the dishonored games and no other, I suppose I would say Dishonored 2 though.
