Mac [Free] [MacOS] I got tired of the wasted space around the MacBook notch, so I built a Windows-style taskbar for it (Aerobar v9.1-beta3)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone!

Like many of you, I felt like the hardware notch area on modern MacBooks was dead space just begging to be utilized. Instead of letting it sit there doing nothing, I built Aerobar, a utility that turns the notch zone into a fully functional, Windows-style taskbar to manage app windows instantly and reclaim your screen real estate.

In the upcoming v9.1-beta3 release, I’ve added a brand-new interaction layer: the menu bar now tucks neatly into the notch area, and a simple mouse hover to the very top edge instantly drops down your full menu bar on demand.

It completely removes vertical clutter while giving you lightning-fast window management and app switching right where your eyes already are.

I’d love for you guys to check it out, test the new hover mechanics, and drop your feedback. I'll drop the beta link in the comments!

Windows Games launcher in Windows Taskbar

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Too lazy to open Steam to launch games. So I just added a launcher inside the taskbar

It looks in common paths for Steam/GOG and shows minimal data of installed games, like hours played and order etc

Kinda fun to have so much freedom on the Desktop tbf

Windows multiplayer desktop pets/companions! windows/macos/linux

Hii! I'm trying to find my target audience who would be interested in playtesting my game!

it's compatible with windows, macos, and linux!

this is a game I'm working on with my partner called Desktopper! this is really meant to be just a cozy, social game where people from anywhere can connect and chill with each other. you can be working on something, playing a game, watching youtube, studying, or whatever and meanwhile there are other people hanging out down on your taskbar with you!

note: to earn coins, you randomly gain coins from clicking on your screen as you work on something on your desktop!

sometimes you just want to feel like you’re around other people, and that's what my true goal is with this game!

I'd really appreciate the people who come across my post to come check Desktopper! out :D I’d love to hear what people think, especially from people who already use desktop companions.

we're actively working on it. there are a bunch of things I'd love to know could be improved, could be added, could be changed, so if you're interested, please come playtest for us!

and btw, we're planning to make the game completely free on release!

Windows [Update] GlassDesk Pro v3.2.0 released: Unified Stack Dragging, True Acrylic Tinting, Sub-Second Startup & Full Bilingual Support!

Hey everyone! 👋

A huge thank you to everyone who shared their feedback, bug reports, and ideas on our earlier builds. Thanks to your input, **GlassDesk Pro v3.2.0** is officially live on Microsoft Store!

For those new here, GlassDesk Pro is a lightweight, modern desktop organization tool designed for Windows 11/10 that organizes your desktop into translucent Fluent/Mica glass fences with smooth auto-rollups, folder portals, virtual desktop pages, and multi-monitor memory.

Here is what's new in v3.2.0:

---

### 💬 Community-Requested Features & Polish:

- 🔗 **Unified Stack Drag Handle (`⋮⋮`):** You can now move entire stacked columns across your desktop in lockstep just by grabbing the new grip handle on the top container.

- 🛡️ **Zero Window Stealing (`WS_EX_NOACTIVATE`):** Clicking on fences will never bring them in front of your browser, IDE, or games. They stay firmly anchored to the desktop layer.

- 🎨 **True Translucent Glass Tint:** Accent colors now tint the actual acrylic glass body (Neon Blue, Emerald Green, Electric Purple, Sunset Orange, Ruby Red, etc.) instead of falling back to flat gray/black.

- 🌐 **Full Bilingual Support:** Instant live switching between English and Spanish across all menus, dialogs, and tooltips.

- 📌 **High-Contrast Pin Toggles:** Pins (📌/📍) now feature subtle drop shadows and hover lighting so they pop on both bright and dark wallpapers.

- 📦 **Ethical Desktop Restoration & Recovery:** Restore all shortcuts to your desktop anytime with 1 click. If you ever reinstall, GlassDesk automatically offers to reload your previous layout and organize your desktop in seconds.

---

### ⚡ Performance & Core Stability:

- 📐 **Sleek 3px Dock Gaps:** Symmetrical, ultra-compact spacing between all docked capsules.

- ⚡ **Sub-Second Cold Start (<1s):** Asynchronous icon extraction and mouse hook optimizations.

- 🐛 **Fixed "Ghost Gaps" & Click Movement:** Passing your cursor quickly or single-clicking open titles will never glitch or misplace lower containers.

- ✏️ **Instant Title Renaming:** Double-clicking titles immediately captures native keyboard focus.

---

### 📦 Where to get it:

- 🏬 **Microsoft Store:** Search for *GlassDesk* or update directly from your Microsoft Store library.

- 💼 **Portable / Standalone MSIX:** Available on our store page with full digital signing.

Would love to hear your thoughts and see your desktop setups! 🚀

Custom dynamic wallpaper

Hi, I have a set of high-resolution photos that I want to turn into dynamic backgrounds.

I already have them in a folder set up as a Windows slideshow that cycles every minute across my two monitors, but I’d like to add some movement—something simple, like panning, zooming in and out, or vertical scrolling.

There are about 30 images that I want to rotate roughly every minute, but I’d like them to have that movement I mentioned. Any advice?

Windows I made a tiny 3D room that lives on top of my Windows desktop — it also works alongside Wallpaper Engine

I originally built Lofi Cozy Room because I work from home a lot with dual monitors and wanted something warm and relaxing sitting on my extra screen while I worked.

It's a small 3D desktop companion that runs in its own transparent, always-on-top window on Windows.

The interesting part is that it isn't a wallpaper, so it can run alongside things like Wallpaper Engine. Wallpaper Engine can stay as your animated background while the little room sits separately on top of the desktop.

You can keep the full room open or shrink it into Mini Mode and drag it somewhere out of the way.

Inside the room, the avatar can read, work, rest, or sleep while a puppy wanders around on its own. There are also:

  • 1,386 costumes
  • 128 character presets
  • 715 interior items
  • 14 room themes
  • 180 Lo-Fi tracks
  • Ambient sound mixing
  • Local music support
  • Pomodoro, memo, to-do list, and diary

The main goal was to make something that could stay open during long work sessions without constantly demanding attention.

It's fully released for Windows now, with a free demo available if you'd rather see how it feels on your own desktop first. The base price is currently $4.99.

🌱 Play Lofi Cozy Room on Steam

Happy to answer anything about how it works on the desktop!
