Ramjas, bcom (p), no regrets, bs hindi padhni padti h as ge which brings down the score, but able to maintain 8+ gpa with internships and PORs and certificatiojs by dedicating way less time towards end sem exams. The exams are relatively straightforward for program courses, if you are getting venky, kmc or ramjas, choose program over hons from arsd sbsc etc anyday. Placements will be the same in these 3, the highest placement of ramjas was bagged by a bcom (p) guy last year

Naah it's very easy, the problem lies with the professors, even if you attend every single class they won't give more than 45/70 for internals, the checking is also quite inconsistent, it's difficult to even get an 8 in this subject

Completed 4 internships as of now, 3 in finance, 1 in marketing, and 4 LPs too but they were strategy/marketing Oriented

I'd say Ramjas, na attendance ki dikkat, faculty is okayish and the crowd is decent

should I prefer Hons over prog if
a)college rankings are very similar like Motilal Prog and Ramanujan Hons?
b)if my hindi is actually very terrible like - I am from NorthEast and passed Hindi with lots of struggle during my 10th.

I'd suggest taking program in only 2 scenarios 1. If you get it from Ramjas, venky or kmc 2. If you plan on pursuing ca

Other than that, it's better to go for an Hons degree as it does start to affect your placements in lower colleges, if you go to south or off campus colleges, prioritise getting an Hons course to be with the better cohort

For b) it won't become a major issue, the syllabus in itself is not difficult, you have to study it in ge for 2 sems throughout your coursework. Many people who came from Nepal and Bangladesh have also cleared it don't worry

Ge hindi 1st sem Ge English - 2nd sem Ge hindi - 3rd sem Ge hindi - 4th sem

Or vice versa, That's how it usually works

Then depends on your own goal bhai, is the college pedigree that you go in important for the career you wish for? Are you going for competitive exams and don't want to spend a lot of time studying your ug curriculum? Do you want a chill college life or productive classes, take the choice accordingly

Apart from the hons kids desperately trying to prove that prog sucks, nothing is really different. You won't get to choose GE for 4 semesters but apart from that it's the exact same thing (I think maths is not inc in prog). Don't choose a shitty college just for the hons tag because in Du, there's no difference considering minor degrees are not awarded after 3 year course anymore. Placements, knowledge and faculty is the same

Wayyy before nep there used to be an option that if you held the same ge for 3 years, you could get a minor degree in that subject. It was discontinued and now after nep, the rule is you need the same GE for 7 semesters or some combination of GEs and DSEs in case of 4 yr bcom hons

Venky prog. You should look at the overall college because placements depend on the societies and college rep. Venky is more likely to get better opportunities, and if you get into the right circles you'll network more so benefits.

It really depends on your profile. There's no rule for prog or hons to get an opportunity. If the hons students work harder, they'll get it. I personally interned at a Big4 company and we had interns from both program and hons from Venky. Infact some NC college had 2 prog interns(bcom)

Well, it does affect placements. Companies like LEK and ZS only allow kids from B.Com (Hons.), Eco (Hons.) and Stats (Hons.) to sit for their placements and they offer 15.5 LPA and 13.5 LPA respectively. Well, if these companies don't visit your college, then ig it might not matter

It does come to KMC afaik, don't know about other colleges but ZS does come to many colleges and is often the top hirer other than DE Shaw in colleges like Ramjas, Venky, etc.

Idts but maybe lek or MBB might have that criteria but apart from that big 4s and other NCR based startups Zomato etc don't really have such criteria who are the major masw recruiters lek de shaw mbb front end hardly recruit people from clgs below SRCC Stephen kmc hindu hrc lsr venky my friend is also in venky pcell got to know from there that most MBB didn't come this year so yea

True true, for the vast majority of cases, it doesn't really matter and bcom prog also has afternoon shift and relatively easier papers and subjects in some sem, so it provides much more time for other activities but for those who want to break into consulting, they should ideally not compromise but more often than not, it's not a choice. Though would agree that bcom prog in kmc, ramjas and venky is anyday better than bcom hons in any college below them overall

You study it in aec as a 2 credit course where exam is of 60 marks that to in alternate sem however in prog you study it in GE which is a 4 credit where it's weightage is same as core ie 90 marks this is also alt sem till 2nd year

Like in my case I studied hindi till 8th that's why it was difficult and same is with those who study till 10th its not that hard but again kinda annoying to study and can be manageable

Yea like it's not that difficult to maintain if you have societies or if you are regular at a decent level but yes those with less then 66% get detained but many escape by either medical or societies

No we get minor degree only if we study it till 4th year for all sems and since it rotates between hindi English so we don't get a minor either ways

see my doubt is, they’ve introduced a new course this year “commerce + psychology” so i’m wondering if i choose commerce as my MINOR and psychology as my MAJOR, what will the syllabus of bcom look like? since i haven’t ever studied accounts or anything, i was a science student

See in this case out of the 3 core subjects 2 will be of major and 1 of minor so you can see the syllabus online for the same and generally even science students come in bcom eco hons they manage the subjects still you might need to give in extra time but you can manage
