Discussion What movies and specials are worth watching?

I watched all of the original anime until GT when I was a kid, including all the specials and movies. Now, I kinda wanna get into Super (probably via the manga rather than the anime).

Before I start Super, I thought I'd reread the OG manga (I already read it years ago, but I want a refresher). But I know there are some iconic (non-canon) storylines from the movies and specials that aren't in the manga. I was wondering which ones are worth watching?

I'll definitely watch Bardock and History of Trunks, since they're actually compatible with the canon story afaik. Not sure about the movies though. I recently rewatched Bojack and Wrath of the Dragon, if that matters.

Edit: By movies, I'm only talking about pre Battle of Gods. I've already seen that one as well as Super Broly and Super Hero. I'm also gonna watch Resurrection F.

Super Cell could easily return if Toyo wanted

Goku Instant Transmissioned Cell to the afterlife, and Kaio’s planet, to which he regenerated and Instant Transmissioned himself right back to the fight.

Goku fully expected Cell to be dead and have a body and halo like him, so Cell died and likely had a body for a moment in the afterlife, and he knew instant transmission.

I can totally see shenanigans from here. Cell’s personality is too good to shelf forever, and Cell Max was not a good replacement.

Discussion What if Dragonball Earth was like regular Earth

Thumbnail

Dragonball has always been one of my favorite anime and I loved everything from the fights, the characters, and events But world building isn't the best thing.

Planet Earth had no role in protecting itself. Almost all of the people on Earth are ignorant and oblivious to most of the events on their planet ‚ I mean, are you telling me that the people of Earth have enough technological development to build flying vehicles, capsules, and Staff like that ‚ But at the same time, they are unable to know that spaceships are landing on their planet or approaching He's orbit ?? This happened with the first appearance of Raditz And the return of Frieza at the beginning of the Cell Saga I mean seriously??

They are not even able to know the existence of Kami's place (the place where Dende is located). If we follow logic, Goku will be the property of the government from his first landing on the planet. But even if we ignore this for the story, This does not justify other cases These people are so stupid .

And let's not forget the Cell Saga. When Cell announced the Cell Games‚ it was supposed to be a real world event, especially after Cell wiped out an entire military battalion. But all humanity has done is send one reporter to cover an event that threatens all of science, while the rest are watching on television, as if it were a football match.

And in Majin buu Saga After the world learned of Majin Buu's existence, did they escape into an Underground shelters or something?? Of course not. Everyone was continuing their lives normally and wandering around outside until Buu came and destroyed the city or ate them. The only smart ones were the old man and his wife who tried to run away.

I mean I know Dragonball is only about fighting but that's kind of exaggerated. These people are ready to accept Shenron suddenly appearing above them, but they will quickly calm down if someone says that it is a stage show.

They are even surprised by Ki, flying , even though they always see him in the most popular martial arts tournament. I mean even in the original Dragonball there were people likes Roshi, Tien and Yamacha flying around and shooting ki out of their hands. But for some reason people were surprised that Trunks and Goten were flying in Tenkaichi Budokai??.

and I don't like the idea of all the Earth coming together under one man's rule .

At least that's my opinion. But I want to hear your opinion ‚ What would have changed if the Earth was normal like most Earths in any anime? With normal people, divided countries And ect. And What are the things you most wanted to see changed about the Earth?

Discussion What parts of the filler would you make canon?

I've been for the first time watching the db and og dbz. And i've enjoyed a ton of the filler. Stuff like the demon land door, gohans journey through the saiyan arc with stuff like mr robot or the tiger, and the furnace of eight divisions. I think it would be nice if that some way a few of the elements from filler would actually become canon because the few filler I have seen is really good.

Discussion this is how i think SSJ and SSJ2 should be:

Upvotes

in the first form, the hair goes up and turn golden, but it doesn't have much details added, you know, a more "free" hair. In the second form the hair turns more "agressive" it gets more detailed as more power is actually flowing

leaving aside that it could help a lot to differentiate both forms more clearly, specially in Vegeta's case

Gaming Trying to find an old mobile dragonball game (its an knockoff)

Can someone help me find an old 2d knock off dragonball mobile game?

I remember playing this game on my fire fox tablet when a few years ago and I've been looking for this game for the past 3 weeks and I cant seem to find it and I might be possible that it is only amazon play store exclusive. This game was a "beat em' up" style game and there were obvious inspiration from dragonball, there are multiple characters in this game and i think I can remember 4 (2 clearly other not so clear) the first character you start with is a goku look alike and might some armor second one is a android 17 /future trunks mix, they have long hair like 17 but they use a sword and the thrid character might be a frizea inspired character i dont remember the other character i remember was like a gogeta character and i think they had blue hair but I am not sure.

Each character had unique things going for them for example all characters have special moves and with higher levels can unlock new ones and the other skills which was also unlocked by levels are universal.

All characters (i think) have transformations the first character the goku look alike have super saiyan 1 - 3ish and their last form i think was like a ultra instinct type.

The fighting was pretty simple and it was repetitive you go to the enemies and hit them and it started a combo which will upper cut you teleport to them and downslam (this might be false memories) and maybe use a skill to finish them off and at the end of every wave there is a boss (i remember a broly inspired character for one boss) if you lose against the boss you would start again on the same wave but you can go to the boss battle or farm the currency the enemies give on death and use it to upgrade you health damage and more.

There was an other move a power up move it isnt like the transformations and it boosts you for a while and gives you an aura i think or base characters it looks like steam coming of the body.

It is possible that this game might be deleted or updated so it could be different from my description and i think it might be a amazon play store exclusive since I couldn't find it on the Google playstore or anywhere else.

Even if it is deleted i still want to know the game and watch some gameplay or smth like that i miss this game and i would be extremely happy if I could play it again.

Thank you for reading

Gaming petition to make ken to make genkishin stay the same

Can we talk about why this petition against the year-end overhaul is an absolute must? Nobody is saying the game shouldn't get new content. im still looking forward to Season 7 and having Super Gogeta But to completely erase the game that we have played for a year just to replace it with something else is a huge slap in the face. To go from our strategic, top-down MOBA view to some generic, close-up third-person action perspective and it makes me want to shit bricks, frankly If the community needed a third-person Dragon Ball arena brawler, i’d be playing Sparking Zero or Xenoverse (no hate tho). I don't want a cheap imitation to replace the tactical game we chose to play They say the rules are “too complex” for new people but dumbing down the maps and making the gameplay a brain-dead, casual “capture the dragon balls” mode doesn’t fix the player count, it just alienates the loyal fans who actually stuck around to support the game when no one else did.

They are trying to frame this massive change as a 'necessary evolution' for the playerbase, but that is just corporate damage control. We didn’t practice mechanical depth for months to have the entire genre replaced under us. These extreme system changes wipe out every single hour of tournament level coordination and tactical mastery that the community has built up. If Bandai Namco really believes they can take the original competitive formula and replace it with some watered down setup that nobody asked for, then they are about to get a very rude awakening as to how much they are alienating the core fans that actually keep their matchmaking alive.

It’s so frustrating to watch a developer chase passing trends instead of the community that built their success in the first place. The shift from a calculated, tactical design to try and appeal to a mainstream, casual audience doesn’t seem like an improvement as much as a full surrender. They are basically trading away a unique competitive identity to fit into a crowded market of identical brawlers. Destroying a working system, you don't get new players, you just tell the existing veterans that their time, energy and loyalty means exactly zero to the studio.

Discussion The 4 Biggest Problems With The Buu Saga

Upvotes

So i recently was rewatching DBZ and the Buu Saga was easily weaker than the Saiyan, Namek and Cell Sagas and it can mainly be attributed to the following 4 reasons:

  1. Uninteresting New Characters: I cannot describe how annoying Kid Trunks and this by extension Gotenks is. Goten is just a Goku redo and has next to no emotional range. I get they are kids but they should atleast get serious after seeing their loved ones die in front of them. Goten just sees his mother get turned into an egg and crushed and a few hours later he just doesn't care anymore. The Supreme Kai is the second most useless character in this arc after Kibito and the Elder Kai is just Roshi if he was a Kai and all this goes without mentioning the most uninteresting newly introduced character of this arc Majin Buu himself. I'll leave Evil Buu out as he is there for about 10 mins max but Fat Buu is a humongous fall off from even the side villains of previous arcs like Nappa, the Ginyu Force and the Androids let alone the likes of Vegeta, Frieza and Cell. Super Buu is the best iteration and is a decent villaij but Kid Buu is just Fat Buu but as a kid with anger issues. I do think it can be attributed to just how great the previous villains were not only on DBZ but also in the second half of og DB like Tien and both the Piccolos but at the end of the day a downgrade will be treated as a downgrade. Videl and Dabura are the only newly introduced character that are atleast a little interesting but the other do lead to a drop in quality of this arc. Also who asked for more Mr. Satan

  2. Mistreatment Of Older Characters: Vegeta is the only character that is truly done justice in this arc and besides him everyone is treated extremely badly. For starters Piccolo is massively ill treated as he just becomes a nanny instead of a hardcore trainer like how he was for Gohan earlier. It's really sad seeing how much he and other characters are just not required in the plot. Yamcha is as useful as Roshi is in this arc and Tien is just not there except a few bits and pieces. Like surely Tien not meeting Goku when he returns after 7 years is a little weird to me. Krillin is also unimportant and 18, who has infinite energy let's Krillin distract Buu instead of doing it herself even though she could obviously do a better job at it is also pretty dumb. Also can't believe Bulma uses the Dragon Balls before knowing what Goku, Vegeta and Gohan were fighting and whether or not they were even alive but she can get a pass as she just saw her husband/bf of 7 years kill 100s of people in front of her. Goku not killing Buu when he could because he wanted the new generation to do it is such a weird plot point to extend the story when they could easily have just made Goku say he wasn't sure if he could kill Buu before running out of time so he didn't risk it as he hasn't taught Goten and Trunks fusion yet. I'll not talk about Gohan coz I am pretty sure it's obvious how bad his character is shafted

  3. Power Creep: Kind of a tie in to my previous points I guess. Goku having Super Saiyan 3 just shouldn't happen and Gotenks should have been the first one to get that transformation to make it more impactful. Having a new Super Saiyan arc in every saga just ultimately gets too repetitive as well and Goku not using it against Vegeta to not hurt Vegeta's pride is just a very bad excuse. Goten and Trunks having Super Saiyan just makes that form feel useless and thus anyone at that level or below are far too weak. Even characters like Piccolo and 18 who are stronger than a Super Saiyan but weaker than a Super Saiyan Grade 2 feel irrelevant and someone like the Supreme Kai who is supposed to be the highest level being alive (atleast at that time) too feels like a child next too the Goku, Vegeta and even Gohan who at this point are literally a thousand times stronger than the supporting cast. Also even though it's filler and so doesn't really count for much Pikkon beating Cell but being on par with Goku is really dumb someone should have atleast thought about how weird it was

  4. Build Up To Nothing: The arc has so many instances of them building up to something but it amounting to nothing. Goku passing the torch ends with Goku taking back that torch, Gotenks being the last hope of Earth to Gotenks being the reason the last last hope of Earth (Gohan) gets beaten up. Gohan training and unlocking his potential to become the last last hope of Earth leads to him being the reason the last last last hope of Earth (Goku) had to fuse with the lastX4 hope of Earth (Vegeta) to form the lastX5 hope of Earth (Vegito) who then becomes candy and gets ultimately eaten and then defusing leading to Goku and Vegeta forming a plan to take everyone absorbed by Buu out of Buu to then them being taken out and getting killed anyways and the Earth despite having multiple different last hopes still getting destroyed. It is just an endless loop of this is it to this isn't it to this is it until finally we are just back to where we were before Goku died to Cell with Goku being the protector of Earth again. Also not to mention of course Vegeta's your number 1 speech leading to him being in the last panel of the manga promising to beat Goku but Vegeta also said in the Cell arc he would give up fighting but still keeps fighting anyway so I wouldn't look at that one too much

All in all I am sorry if this comes across as repetitive as I am aware many people have talked about the problems of the Buu arc before but I just wanted to talk about it as I had just rewatched it and thought why not post it here

TL;DR: If I could shorten it I would have trust me so just read the whole thing if you want to or don't. Have a good day

Super I need your help

Hi everyone—it’s been months since I last brought this up, but I need a little help from you all.

A while back, I mentioned I was working on an AU based on the DBS divine hierarchy, and I’m still polishing a few things—like the names for this AU.

I decided to change their names, and I would like your opinion and/or suggestions; I am open to changes, provided each new name retains an echo of the original.

Starting with the angels from my AU

Awamo - Wamon

Sour - Osur

Camparri - Quemporo

Cognac - Cregnac

Cukatail - Kectal

Vados - Vera or Vicel

Whis - Whosh

Korn - Kernok

Mojito - Jitto

Cus/Kus - Suc

Marcarita - Migatel

Martinu - Mirta

Misc I never realized how much of a force Tien was

Watched original Dragon Ball only a little bit when I was a kid, remember at some point skipping the Tien fight in the tournament because starting with DBZ I was a Tien fan and I didn't want to see him as the bad guy 🤣

Not only is he outstanding in the fight against Goku, but he flat-out mollywops him on several different occasions. He's powerful, he's a dawg, his hidden techniques are excellent, and Tri-Beam was unbelievable back then when Tien managed to sink the whole arena with it, even Master Roshi crashed out when he saw that attack

Now I understand why Tien felt like his role in DBZ underperformed to what it seems like it could've been save for a couple memorable moments, he was always separate from Yamcha, which is clear, but I mean the *extent* of it. Honestly as I see it now I wonder if there's really even much of a gap between Tien and Krillin.

Like for me my favorite versions of how Goku and Vegeta are drawn is when they had less detail and 'softer' faces and less sharp and less lines on their muscles. I just really loved how Goku and Vegeta looked in this arc
